After Ghostblusters2016, Terminator Dark Flop, nu Star Wars, nu Star Trek,Cleopatra,The Woman King, woke Buzz Lightyear,woke prime time legacy network television, I've come to the conclusion that Hollywood doesn't want any of my money anymore.
Close, it's a culture/propaganda war. They want to influence new generations for big big money later (enslaved like the Chinese). Worrying about profits in this process would be a waste of time.
They stopped telling stories and started preaching. When people rejected the preaching they started lecturing us. It's that simple.
Besides being woke, visiting Disneyland requires a small fortune for a family of four.

the sad part is, fans are ready to forgive Disney and patronize them again. All they have to do is be politically neutral and create passable to good entertainment. They wont do it - they are lost, seemingly permanently.

Thing is, they know that. They know the hostages (IPs) they have are worth a lot culturally, and that people are wanting those hostages released. They will keep on injecting woke BS until people don't have that connection and the IPs are no longer cultural touchstones, thus their podium dies. The only way we end this crap is to ignore the movies entirely and create something new. Then we will have to gatekeep to prevent this from happening again.

Star Wars, Fox, Marvel, Pixar, ABC, ESPN and the once treasured Disney Parks, IPs and Imagineering. They've marched through each of these institutions and purged leadership, talent, creativity, merit, innovation, value and any interest in genuine success from their ranks and their goals. To say nothing of purging their core divisions of Walt Disney himself. ... and they're still working hard at it.

All the Disney movies combined haven't paid for the cost of purchasing the studio let alone the movies themselves.

Disney bought SW then threw out Lucas's treatments for the next films. Imagine buying the recipes of a world class chef. And when he hands you his plans for more, you throw them away and decide to wing it.

The biggest part of this was where fun came into it. It's obvious when people are having fun doing what they're doing, and it's equally obvious when they are not. Somehow, disney has lost sight of the very most basic, bedrock item in their existence: They are here to entertain us. Nobody wants to pay entertainment prices to be lectured on how horrible they are. If you're not getting entertainment from your entertainment, it's not entertainment and "people" WILL go find some, somewhere else.

A relatable hero overcomes challenges, does battle with the enemy, saves the princess, and everyone lives happily ever after. Characters in the story must go through hell and suffer for our entertainment.
Woke storytelling:
Courageous social justice warriors, working at a noble billion-dollar corporation, must do battle with the evil enemy - their paying customers. Lifelong fans must suffer the desecration of beloved characters, and millions of normal people must be smeared as bigots in real life in order for cosplaying social justice warriors to act out their messianic fantasy of bringing the Gospel of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to the world.

Does anyone think the newest star wars trilogy made more money than Lord of the Rings? and LotR claimed they didn't make enough money to pay some of the major lead actors their due. Some of that issue is still winding through the courts of appeal. But disney claims they made a bundle. 🙄

Didn't what happened with The Marvels also happen with the most recent Indiana Jones flick? I seem to recall it did so poorly with test audiences that they had to rewrite and reshoot four or five times just to get something the test audiences didn't hate (they were still less than pleased with the final outcome), and were still filming with less than a month to go before the film was scheduled for theatrical release.
Not sure how a Star Trek fan like Bill could think Disney owns that. It’s Paramount, though it’s rumored to be up for sale and long-time production partner Bad Robot is interested in buying.

@@veganconservative1109 I think the plan/rumor is for Sony to buy Paramount Global and someone else, like Bad Robot, buys Star Trek. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen since Bad Robot are the ones responsible to the current state of Trek.

You guys are wrong. When you buy an asset like lucas films the cost moves into the value of the buying enterprise. Cash is an asset Lucas films is an asset. You exchange cash for an asset. That expenditure is not the same as a regular expense like paying for labor. That asset if it depreciates must be expensed over time. If it does not depreciate like land then it remains on the books at full value. Basic accounting.
When the original Star Wars came out, I sat through 16 showings of it. I saw all the original Star Wars the minute they came out. I have seen exactly 0 of the Disneyfied Star Wars AKA Woke Wars. For me they didn't ruin the franchise. For me it just ended.

Paramount owns Star Trek, not Disney, Bill. We would have seen a Star Trek/ Star Wars or Star Trek/Marvel crossover event if Disney owned Star Trek, so thank the good Lord for sparing us from that abomination. Although it's only a matter of time before we see an attempt at one of those two.
There is at least one X-Men/Star Trek crossover in a book. I've never read it, and I never will.

Star Trek has always been a bit pie-in-the-sky liberal...but what it has become is WAY left of the vision. If Disney had went with a story for Star Wars that was essentially George Lucas's vision, they would have made $2 BILLION per trilogy movie...EASY! But, they went with the JJ Abrams (I generally don't dislike his work)/Rian Johnson chaotic, woke, stupid nonsense debacle that we have. When half of your cast for any movie are essentially useless characters (nothing against the actors themselves!) and just there for "diversity" quotas...you get crappy movies with marginalized characters that people don't care about--and a bunch of pissed off fans! Wokeness ruins and torches everything it touches.

I was just watching the 2004 BATTLESTAR GALACTICA series. You get some decent battle scenes, but only in between the woke garbage and gratuitous sex....Starbuck is not a female...it was very hard to choke down, and I only watched a few minutes of the original so I had little to compare the 2004 version to.
