    The video doesn’t do that bike justice-it’s gorgeous in real life. I should know, I own one. Yellow ( light mustard) is great has that British 60s vibe. Forget about performance n speed that’ll just get you killed- It ain’t a race track out there. This bike is so much fun to ride! Comfortable, smooth linear acceleration, good exhaust note, and just love the heel toe shifter- Classy touch. Brilliant choice!! enjoy your new bike. Cheers Allan So Cal

    I’m picking one of these bikes up next week. I’m neither a new nor a small rider but the reason I’m getting one is that it’s more or less a full size bike with a small engine. Most of the small displacement bikes we have here are built for women and small men. It’s more fun riding a small bike fast than a big bike slow, as long as it’s a comfortable ride.

    • @motopicnic

    Great bike! I bought a Royal Enfield Meteor in Stellar Blue myself in February and love that thing! For a newer rider it's the best combination of power and utility. And I am looking to enjoy the rides and not tear my face off with speed. I've seen one too many videos of idiots splitting lanes and going way too fast and I'm deliberately placing myself at the extreme other end of the spectrum and gladly so. You enjoy that bike! Since February I made 3k miles. And I love it truly. Very comfy, even for a 6ft 3" guy as I am. Thanks for posting your review, it was an interesting look at the motorcycle. The Royal Enfield brand and their motorcycles are big sellers here in the UK. For quite a while now, British and European riders have had to progress through a series of motorcycles, starting from 125cc upwards for several years before they can get on a big motorcycle. It helps riders get experience before buying a motorcycle that would otherwise be too big for them to start on. It can take five or more years to progress through the system. It probably sounds restrictive to the American audience, but it saves lives. The 350 Meteor on this side of the Atlantic is a good seller to people in the progression system, or older riders looking for a lightweight motorcycle.

    • @motopicnic
      @motopicnic  2 года назад +2

      I agree it’s a good system. We just didn’t really have it available to us except in dirt bikes. These little street bikes are just now hitting the US and, as a result, we are starting to see a lot more women getting into riding, which I think is fun. But even my son in law is seeing the value in starting small. Now he’s been bitten by the cycling bug. (There is a video with him coming up on a Honda NAVI)
      Royal Enfield is doing great things these days. And of course, we love their heritage.

    • @motopicnic
      @motopicnic  2 года назад

      Yes it can. We are fortunate (?) here not to see rain for months at a time. But what is always slick here are those black tar patches over the cracks. Those get sketchy on some twisty roads around here, especially in the heat.

      This bike is very agile in tight traffic scenarios. I’m sure that’s why it’s been so popular in large cities. But in our traffic here, where we are used to bikes between 500cc and 1200cc and 80mph speeds, the ability to see the bike “keep up with the bigger fish” in this context was impressive to me. I don't know why people still considering meteor as British Vibes..Bro it's 100% designed,manufactured and produced in India though I know some models of royal Enfield carry British legacy like classics but this is not true for Himalayans,meteor and other newly produced bikes...i have no issue with association with British but we Indians have emotions attached to RE our father,grand father used to ride the same n pass on to their 3rd generation that's why no matter what other companies are offering we always go with RE and when someone says it's British we feel bad bro..though designers are from British or USA or from any other countries but that doesn't matter bro we Indians also work for companies based in USA/Uk as a designer or CEO or chief architect but that doesn't mean that we should start calling that company as Indians.... I know RE was a British company but now it's a subsidiary of Indian company now from so many decades i. e. " Eicher"- 'famous tractor producing company'...so it's my request kindly have some corner of respect to Indians also 🙏

    This is the thing I've always wanted in expensive bikes. You see I'm from India. My father had a 100CC simple bike in India with similar gear shifter. It was super damn easy and accurate, I never got confused using the gears. But later we had the trend of new gear set-up which you could apply only through your toes. It's really bad. Putting the Bike on Neutral is next to impossible lol😂
    .
    We should be able to shift both ways through our toes or heels.
    .
    The problem with one side shifter is that you really get confused at times, you're unsure whether to upshift or downshift. Two-way shifter eradicates all chaos.

    • @motopicnic
      @motopicnic  Год назад

      It’s an M1 endorsement on the existing driver’s license.
      You need to take a written test and then a riding test that includes a circle where you must stay in the lines, etc.
      The best way is to take a 2 day course on a weekend, in which you can use their bikes and they teach you many techniques. If you complete that course, you do NOT need to do a riding test at the DMV. You just do the written test at the DMV and show them your completion certificate and they give you a license. 👍

    What' about the freeway?
    Also...the diff between the Meteor and the Classic? I'm an older beginner, deciding on a bike.

    • @motopicnic
      @motopicnic  Год назад +1

      These are great questions.
      The bike is freeway capable, but it’s not meant to go 65+mph all day. This bike is great up to 50mph all over the city and can do 70mph for a while if you’re not to heavy. But you won’t be agile and able to pass like a bigger bike.
      The advantage of that is it sips the gas and has a big tank. Great commuter and great bike to go look at the scenery. And super easy to ride.
      The meteor is a relaxed, cruiser seating position.
      The classic is like sitting in a chair, like older wwII bikes. The new Hunter 350 is a more modern and slightly more aggressive riding position, easier to stand up over bumps etc.
      You shoukd sit on all of them. If possible, ride them.
      Another option for not much more money is the Himalayan. More power, easy freeway, comfortable upright position and capable of dirt trails.
      … And that’s just Royal Enfield bikes!!
      Just get a bike that’s not so big and fast that you’re holding it back. It’s more fun to ride a smaller bike to its limit. Don’t let the fear of a big bike get in the way of you enjoying your ride.
      A Honda or Yamaha will probably last longer. But you can buy 2 of these for the one of those, and these come with a 3 year warranty. They are a good value and they ride Well.
      Welcome to riding. It’s awesome. The people are great. The mental therapy is worth it. 👍

      Yes, the gears are standard, like every other bike (1 down, neutral 1/2 up, 2 up, 3 up, etc…)
      The difference is the shifter mechanism. Pushing down with your toes to shift down (normal) but in this case, you can step on your heel to shift up, rather than put you toes underneath and lift up. It’s easy to get used to. I love the fact that it has tubeless tires. That means you can actually go somewhere on it and not have to worry about flat tires. This bike is like travelling back in time: a 350cc engine that makes only 20HP.
    It reminds me of a Honda Rebel 250cc from the last century.
    It's too underpowered for a 350cc engine on a almost 190 Kilograms motorcycle (+/- 400 pounds).
    Like that was not enough, the worse part is its price tag.💸💸💸
    A 125cc bike can go as fast as the Meteor 350 and it costs way less. I know, it's not meant for speed but with a 350cc engine it should be able to make overturns at ease in the XXI Century, something i can't imagine this bike doing, just like a 125cc one.
    This Royal Enfield Meteor 350 is a contradiction itself! Although i love it, it looks beautiful and egonomicaly made, unfortunately it costs way too much for the little power it can deliver. I thought i could buy a 2nd hand one but its users ditch this bike to buy a powerful one way too soon, after buying it and thus, they ask for a price just a little below its original price tag without taxes and legal fees.
    For that price one can buy a modern Honda Rebel 500: same fuel consumption, but way more powerful, and similar insurance/taxes.
    So, it does not compensate buying it 2nd hand either.
    Royal Enfield is trying to establish itself as a premium brand like japanese motorcyle brands, but with this last century-inspired-engine, a price that only wealthy spoiled boys can afford it, it feels too greedy.
    Have a great week! Ride safe! Greetings from this side of the Atlantic.😉

      It’s all relative. Next to a Harley Davidson Road Glide, or a BMW GS1250 it’s tiny. And out here, that’s what we see everywhere. So this bike stands out.
      But it is balanced well and does feel lighter than it is. It’s a nice bike.

    Small bike? this is big for Indian standards? This is one of the biggest bikes I see in the road in india

      Yes, you are right about that.
      Over here, it is one of the smallest to even be legal on the freeway, so we did this video to give context for the North American riders. And shorter riders here do not have a lot of choices, so we are very happy to finally see this Indian built bike in our market. Well done, India!

    Maybe the Triumph is just the wrong bike for her altogether? If her knees are against the hot bits, I don't see how that changes with experience.

      That’s correct. I think that’s her “buddy bike” now… lucky friends. My brother was in town and rode it with us the other day.

    How do you buy a 1200 cc bike if you never rode any bike ??

    • @motopicnic
      @motopicnic  2 года назад +1

      😂😆 exactly….
      Although, the very smooth 1200cc Bonneville is VERY different than a GSX100R for example. It was very controllable for her, just too heavy. In fact, the clutch is easier to work for on a bigger body because it can power through everything and you don’t have to shift as much.

      @@motopicnic dude you get what I’m saying though ..! I got money therefore I will buy a plane because I love the way the F-35 jet fighter looks 🤷‍♂️😂 and of course the sales guy at triumph didn’t give shit that this woman might kill her self before she actually learned how to ride 🤷‍♂️👍
