What a SHOCKING episode! :D I'll be doing a lot of work on my 1957 404.1 Mog brakes next summer(non functioning master cylinder, one broken wheel cylinder and one leaking one) So all the information I get about adjusting/ working on the 404 brakes is very welcome :D Also very interested in seeing what other adventures you'll get into!
@@ArmyTruckTom Yeah! You better watch what you say! If I unsubscribe you'll loose something like 10% of your viewers! Just Kidding... Don't take me too seriously either. 😋 I've always preferred metric actually.
Zo..... I thought lets repair my not functional handbrake. Removed both drums and found driver side the cable was not connected. Repaired and put that drum on without that much of a problem. Then went back to the other side. Even with the screw you are tinkering with in the video fully screwed in, you can see a lot of the spindel on the left side which you should normally not see, the drum is not going on. Any good idea's what I am doing wrong? I also checked "palletje" for the handbrake to be in the correct position.
It's good to try and get a functional handbrake. I realy hope you figure out why the drum isn't going back on. it's a bit difficult to tell what might be the problem without seeing it, so i'm afraid i can't give you more tips on that matter.
I believe that only works with brake cylinders that will automatically adjust them self. The brake cylinders we have on the Unimog need to be balanced by hand. Long story short: no we didn't 😂

1 in = 2.54 cm approximately. 😊

Do you put the truck in reverse and back up 3 this to auto check the adjustment?
I'm not sure what you mean by this.
Tom hear in the US we put the vehicle in reverse and back up and stop 3 times this helps automatically balancing brakes right and left at same time

Are you adjusting the handbrake in the video?
