Teresa S sometimes it really is a chemical imbalance and we need medicine. I never would’ve thought it would work for me, but it did. As someone who went through this very struggle, (although I didn’t have support) when I got the medicine, I started being able to help myself

With depression you can have support and love and even God but depression for me at least you can be happy and everything but all it take is one moment of bad or sadness and it takes over like a domino effect and it just adds on and all those happy moments and support you have just disappear and all you think of is the sadness of whatever is bothering you. At least that's how it is for me I'm not suicidal or anything like that but that's how depression affects me

I found your channel through the Phil Collins video and had to go back. There's something so honest in all your videos. It's inspiring to see how you look into each song, even songs you might not normally like and search for the good in them, and the reason they reach others. It's really unique and something I wish was in the world more. I lost a mom young, went through childhood abuse, infertility, a sister murdered, had a child with cancer, job loss, a disabled spouse, depression and anxiety, all fighting through poverty. Every day is a challenge but for the people around me along with fulfilling my own potential, I'm working on finding the beauty in each day. Thanks for what you're doing.

I still cry when I think of Chester. This particular song saved me. And I'm sure many of his songs saved many people because when you hear in the lyrics that someone else feels as awful as you do, you know you are not alone. I have C-PTSD from a life of unimaginable tragedy and Chris Cornell died on my birthday here in my hometown of Detroit and then we lost Chester. All so eerie for me. I just wish someone had done something ANYTHING to get him help. He could have saved many more people.

Linkin Park has been my favorite band since I was 9 years old (27 now). I heard in the end on the radio and a couple other songs and then got Hybrid theory album. I saw them LIVE when I was 16. The stadium was huge and it was packed. They blew me away. Some of the songs from there earlier albums I have a hard time listening to now bcuz they bring out so much anger and depression that I felt in highschool. I still love them though. After following there music for so many years it has been quite a ride. They grew a lot as a band from each album. When I heard that Chester killed himself I was shocked. I never took this song seriously. So sad man. Cant imagine what he was going through at that time.

18 seconds of pure eargasm right here... Almost every song he's written is about his pain and struggling with depression and substance and alcohol abuse. And although he had help from pretty much anyone and everyone in his life (from his band mates and especially Mike shinoda to his family) he was still suffering...

  • @DerangedVoices

Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Sometimes certain things like going through traumatic events can cause it. Like with Chester. Him and I have a lot in common on what happened to us as children. I suffer from severe depression and anxiety. I can't really talk to loved ones, because 9/10 people just don't understand depression unless you suffer from it. I've survived two suicide attempts in my life, and the only thing I pray for is release from this life and these demons inside. Listening to Linkin Park has really helped me get through some very tough times.

I was raped, beaten, treated like absolute trash. When I became emo people made fun of me even more because they thought I was evil. I came to school with cuts on my arms, overdosing on depression meds to numb the pain, and listened to rock music because I was so angry. I would scream and punch walls just to feel alive again. I overdosed on 67 pills and somehow was saved. I'm still struggling with feeling like I deserve to be here but I'm 32 now and I'm working hard to be here and to love myself.
It hurts me to know chester couldn't make it through no matter how hard he tried. His death really broke me because I related to their music so much. I felt like someone else understood just how I felt in this life. Rest in peace Chester. I know you are in a better place and finally at peace. 💔

  • @KelliReimer

When I was first diagnosed with clinical depression this is how I felt 100% Thankfully I have a family/friends who were their for me and wouldn't let me go.... I am a believer, unfortunately when I was at my worst, I had a hard time relying on the Lord. But in hindsight the Lord never left me, at times for me that is the hardest thing that I try to accept... Because of Gods Grace... I take antidepressants to help prevent me from returning to the pit of despair, but depression is something that I have realized that I will always have to deal with.
Anyone who feels like giving up, I echo, please ask for help!! It is not a sign of weakness to ask for help, family, friends, help line, anyone!! YOU ARE IMPORTANT, YOU ARE LOVED, AND YOU ARE NEEDED!! Much love!

Energy cannot be destroyed only transformed. The countless millions he helped raise them out of their darkness, pushing them through to the other side by force. You cant be that selfless without a price, there was no helping him. He put the entirety of his being into making sure not a single soul who could hear his voice succumbed to the void. Its no wonder he screamed so loud. I think he knew exactly what would become of him eventually and chose to be the shield for an unfathomable number of people to get through to tomorrow knowing his day was coming eventually. Job well done chester. This man could scream the end of the world away. Few can match the severity of this kind of sacrifice for the impact it would have.

You have such a good message. Depression is real, even if you don't want to, talk to someone. Isolation is the worst for depression.

Chester had past childhood trauma an divorce an drug an alcohol addiction but had gone to rehab several times. At time of death he was outpt rehab due to relapse in Nov 2016. But no drugs an tad alcohol in system at time of death. So depression was the black dog he could not escape. Chris Cornell was his great friend an he died by suicide in May 2017. Chester couldnt get over it with everything else. Just wish he had called someone. LP journey is not for weak. Its emotional an deal wuth real issues. Rt up to last album #7 One More Light. ALOT of Humanitarian aid done by LP. How many musicians do that now adays? Take their millions an help less fortunate or disaster areas? People are so selfish now adays. Everybody hates everybody. As long as u b a decent human an help others I have no prob with you. Thats why we b put on this,earth..to help others however God see's us to do it. Yep u will like Hybrid Theory#1 album an Meteora#2..

What a roll model you are for the young and older alike! In this day and age to see and hear you even speak much less talk about needing God in our lives and dare say a Christian? Bravo X’s infinity! Believe this... he has a huge plan for your life young man. You are a rarity. Young mind with an old soul. That’s precious and you revealing such personal and usually “voodoo” remarks and your fan base grows stronger and stronger. Look at the big picture here. You are reaching so many because you dare to open yourself up to all of us knowing full well of the lashing back...yet I see mostly nothing but positive reactions. That is a GIFT. So it’s really three fold.... your reacting to videos that have touched so many of us (the older generation) and inspiring your generation and the younger behind you. Linkin Park put you onto a different persona of reactions and some very very deep emotional binds we all deal with. Let me personally say a big fat thank you for the shout out to God and being Christian. As LP reveals in so much of their lyrics he’s looking for something to feed his soul. “What’s wrong with me” we have all pretty much asked that. So what’s the harm in believing someone up there loves all of us... warts and all....there is none. HUGE SHOUT OUT TO YOU AND YOUR BROTHER! What you guys are doing is much much deeper than you may even realize. Much much love to you both ❤️😘👍🏼👌

Just came across this and had to comment, depression isnt just a lack of love. It's much much deeper than that, it's a blackness that even the brightest of loves cant seem to rid of. No matter what when you wake up that black shadow is hanging over your bed. Fighting every day to do the simplest of tasks, finding reasons to do what needs to be done. Being trapped in your own mine with the confusion on why you cant escape and why you cant be happy like everyone around you. And all that drives you further in to darkness. Spoken from someone that has fought it for over 15 years, I've literally been at the end of a loaded gun seci ds from taking my own life. Depression isnt a simple fix, it's an every day struggle.

I’ll be very open so you can understand some more. I personally suffer from bipolar 1 with mixed episodes which comes with severe episodes of depression and mania, somethings at the same time. My episodes can be very long. Sometimes over a year. I do get support from Psychiatrist, Therapist, family and tons of friends. But sometimes it’s not that you don’t think you are loved or people are there for you or you are worthy, it’s that you just can’t take anymore feeling the way you do, kinda like he said. A trait people with bipolar can have is thoughts of suicide. I did attempt it around 27 years ago when I was around 19. I also had to go to the hospital multiple times over the last 15ish years in fear of harm. And around 3 1/2 years ago I was in a mental hospital because I feared I was going to attempt again. I take meds, and have tried so many, but they don’t work. Like I said, I talk to a psychiatrist, therapist, I have great family and friends who support me, but I also have something that is breaking me down especially when it goes on too long. And sometimes, especially people with mental illness who know these feelings they have whether major depressive disorder, bipolar, schizophrenia, etc. are going to keep coming back, sometimes in a fit of desperation they follow through because they can’t see any relief in sight because they are in so much pain. But all you can do is try to make it to the next day. And yes, talking to someone that day may be what helped, but it might just push it off a day or a while. But if you see someone who’s behavior has changed ask them how they are doing. There is no harm in asking. They may not even realize it themselves yet. Sometimes I don’t notice until there is a disaster in my apartment and my apartment is usually like a show room. But this is not a feel bad for me or sob story. You asked for comments about it so here’s mine. I’ve been dealing with this for about 30ish years. BTW ❤️ what y’all are doing. I love all types of music myself. My mom was in a band. My suggestion is OZZY Crazy Train. Stay safe!!

Sadly, you can have all the love and support in the world, and still be dangerously depressed. It's an illness, and unfortunately our loved ones aren't medicine, aren't a cure. No matter what they say or do, you just KNOW that they're faking, lying to you to make feel better. If it made sense, it wouldn't be an illness. It means a lot for you to advocate for mental healing, you're such a empathetic and passionate young man. Thanks.

after what you said at the end i am going to say for the first time i talk to myself every day to try and find a reason not to end my life (as after the 6 th attempt i made someone i love a promise ) but the voice you speak of tells me to go ahead and do it the world would be better off without me ! So i tell no one and cry inside and fight to control the dark path i am on . They say there should be light at the end of the tunnel i have not seen it for over 5 years !! Away thanks for letting me finally give voice to my darkness , nobody usually wants to know they say they do but they don't really

@@TwinsthenewTrend thank you i kinda got that vibe from you maybe that is what inspired me to break my silence . You seem to be a very empathic person that cares for real .The good thing about the state i am in is that i have been able to talk down many others on the ledge about to take their lives because i get it (i do fib and say things get better and hope they do ) i also give help to anyone who has fallen on hard times kids kicked out by family at 14 & 15 years old is common here they then couch surf so they have a safe place in my house and help to sort themselves out . But still the ticking bomb is in my mind and has been since i was very young when i first tried at 13 it never stops
