    Love the attention to detail. Cant believe how many "out of the box" reports I have seen...... dread to think of what the report consumers think. Thanks for sharing Bas 💥💥

    Another great video thank you Sir! Also just done a great new hack on the slicer visual to make it look/act modern and more app like. Thinking out the box and surprised nobody has thought of it! Happy to share if of interest. Basically it shows the fieldname within the slicer if nothing selected and if something is selected then it shows the field name above the slicer and the selction within the slicer as normal.

    Thanks for the interesting video, designing the backgrounds and so on is always one thing that I find hard as I am not creative enough to have any ideas as to what the report should look like beyond being easily readable and fit for purpose.

    Looks great Bas, but curious how you deal with the scalability of updating/maintaining reporting using that kind of design? Seems like I'd spend half a day building a beautiful report like that and as soon as I post it someone would ask me to add a graph or a slicer that would screw up the whole thing so it goes from a simple request to a complete redesign.

    • @marcing3364
      @marcing3364 Год назад +10

      Good point, but it depends on the type of change. Adding new chart into existing page is not very time consuming, because only PPT rectangles (placeholders) and Power BI visualizations needs to be resized. Adding new page will require to completely rebuild top menu bar, which may be time consuming.
      I love content provided by Bas, but this report and many other stunning Power BI reports are more like Gems in Personal Portfolio Crown rather than business use cases :) In normal corporate reports environment easier (cleaner) means better. Adding extra flashing elements into background may steal Users attention, which should be avoided. Data should play major part in report, not background. However I have to admit report created by Bas is gorgeous :)

    • @bryanbradford9421
      @bryanbradford9421 Год назад +5

      @@marcing3364 Great points! I'm mixed about the extra flash part. As a data purest I get not wanting to detract attention away from the data but I also think the nicer a report looks the more users will adopt and interact with it.

    • @marekklucka4407
      @marekklucka4407 Год назад +1

      Good point from both of you. Generally when we create some report, the less, the better. Clutter and fancy visuals take away the main point that the end user should focus on. We realized pretty quickly that business users mostly want really just the average/sum and the basic aggregation in most basic way (often in table lol) and the more you do with the data, the worse for them is to orientate in it. We say, if everything is screaming with colour of importance, nothing is important.

    • @bryanbradford9421
      @bryanbradford9421 Год назад +1

      @@marekklucka4407 LOL, you're so right, I can't tell you how many fancy visuals I've had to go back and replace with a simple table/matrix.

      You can use bookmarks to hide or show additional functionality too.
      I usually keep in the works pages in desktop from being uploaded, so you screenshare while developing and provide filea at first- and then update in service only when it reaches a point of clearly adding more value.
      You have to decide for colleagues what is sorth exploring, exploiting or evolving though.
      Sometimes building those pages is more about trust and learning than functionality- so don't mess up working pages at first, and instead explore vX.2 versioning in desktop to preserve the original model's integrity.
      Sometimes we break things while learning! :D

    Hi @HowToPowerBI,
    Love your videos❤
    What is your solution to make "clear filter" button visible on the dark background?
    Is there a proporty to change its color?
    I'm refering to little ikons on the top right corner of slicer.

    Great dark themes. One problem with dark themes though is that if the user zooms focus on any dark theme visual, the white/light elements disappear because the focus option only has a white background. Maybe MS will fix this some day but its just an annoyance. But I do prefer dark themes.
