its not quite on a disney or universal level bc they just dont have the visitation or funds to make animatronics or simulate environments on that level but dollywood is about as close as it gets. id say its at about a seaworld level of theming or maybe just a touch better which for a park in a city with a population of 6,000 thats insane to think about
Unfortunately the food isn't great for people with allergies/intolerance/restrictions, I believe Disney are still the kings in that department. I know theme parks generally aren't known for being places you go for the food, but still.
My mother worked at Aunt Grannies, my step-father was a metal worker at Craftsman Valley, and I was a lifeguard at Splash Country. Dollywood works really hard to give the best experience possible.
We are Disney/Universal diehards and just did our first visit to Dollywood during the pandemic in October (cancelled Disney and went to Tenneessee for the outdoors). We were really, really impressed. We rocked it open to close and look forward to coming back for a longer stay. I also utilized their disability program and they took such great care of me. A+++. So proud to call Dollywood my home park. I’ve seen it grow from a small country park to world class resort destination. It’s my favorite park in the world.
It's so weird to say that I've grown up with it...when I first went, the only rollercoasters were Thunderhead and Tennessee Tornado, plus Blazing Fury and the VeggieTales coaster if you want to count those without much in the way of expansion Then they added Mystery Mine and every few years or so it's just major expansion/addition one after the other. The only really questionable one I feel is the removal of Dreamland Forest for Barnstormer. I always felt like that beehive house drew more people than the Barnstormer, even when it was first introduced...
Dollywood is one of my favorite parks, me and my wife love going here. I agree with you that you don't have to rush to do anything and you can take your time and enjoy the atmosphere, which is part of the reason it's a top 10 park for me, granted if Lightning Rod is open, I'm making a b-line over there before it breaks down
It’s likely because in the 80s, everyone was trying to copy the 50s. Diners were all pink and blue, men were trying to bring back “greasers” and talking like John Travolta, 50s and 60s cars were back in. Similar to like how now everyone is trying to bank off 80s nostalgia now.
My cousin is in a management position at Dollywood and he told me that there is no Festival of Nations at least this year. Another casualty of COVID. He also stated that the re-tracking of Lightning Rod will be done by April.

I've stayed at both her resorts, DreamMore & Heartsong Lodge and I love them both.
I love this park and really love the area! Don’t go here to just visit Dollywood but make time to spend in Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg, the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and Cherokee NC! All of these are just next to each other starting with Pigeon Forge which a a great hub of shopping, food and entertainment! Up next is the beautiful Gatlinburg, a smaller town than Pigeon Forge but completely walkable! Here you’ll find LOTS of unique things to do and see! There’s also a great arts and crafts village here. Up next is the Great Smoke Mountains National Park which is simply magical and HUGE! It’s also completely free to visit. Drive through here and you’ll enter North Carolina and just on the other side of the park is Cherokee NC. Cherokee like it’s name is home to the Western Band of Cherokee Indians which is a federally recognized tribe (which I am btw and a member also), here you can visit things like the museum that teachers the history of the Cherokee, meet and speak with Cherokee people, visit the living museum which has many artists, craftsmen, and see how we as a people once lived. You can also purchase authentic handmade works of art that are made right here in Cherokee that will directly benefit the tribe and community. And if gambling is your thing theirs a very nice and BIG casino here for you to enjoy. I’d highly recommend for ANYONE to visit this area. To me it’s the most beautiful place on earth and with so much to do you could very easily spend weeks here and still had not seen everything!
I'm a West-Coaster. Did a road trip in 2019 with a stop at Dollywood. I loved it. I think Dollywood is probably the best theme park I've ever visited, and I'm in the land of the big D, Knott's, and Magic Mountain. And I had lunch at the BBQ, a hot dog with brisket. The prices were very fair.
I grew up in Knoxville in the 80s, 90s. Went to Dollywood more times than I can count as a kid/teenager. Moved out of state, and went to Dollywood for the first time in 20 years last year. The growth and additions are astounding. It’s a totally different park, but still has the holdover Silver Dollar City rides. What a great park! The traffic is horrendous though.
My 16 year old absolutely adores Dolly. She was so jealous when she found out I visited there twice as a kid. I can't wait to take her. It is, in my opinion, the nicest amusement park in the country and it being in Tennessee is just icing on the cake.
something worth mentioning is that Dollywood is actually looking at bringing back mountain slidewinder. The only reason its closed is the long walk to it doesn't meet accessability requirements. The ride is still completely intact and they have everything they need to reopen the ride its just a matter of solving the massive walk to the station.
Dollywood is an absolute bucket-list theme park of mine for many reasons including but not limited to: Landscaping, Dolly Parton, Lighting Rod, and the food.
I've had a season pass for over a decade. I've seen their changes, some for the worse, but most for the better. Unfortunately, a medical condition is making me stop riding certain coasters, but I still can come for my favorite season, festival of nations. I try to eat all the food and see all the shows. One last thing. CINNAMON BREAD!!! AMAZING! Quick tip, the bakery on Showstreet also sells it and has a much shorter line.

As a kid in the 90s, my dad's family would get together at Dollywood every Mother's Day weekend. I haven't been there in several years, but would like to go back at some point when I have a chance.

The best part of this video is the narration telling you about the parks layout. Be prepared for walking uphill for a good bit of your time there. There are spaces to rest and of course plenty of refreshment vendors, but if you are elderly, perhaps less mobile than a few years ago, take extra time to move around the park.
I am really impressed with the progress of Dollywood over the years. I would really enjoy coming to the park and experiencing their roller coasters. Cool video.
Not really because the other major surrounding parks (Carowinds and SFOG) both have one I would rather have a Mack or S&S Hypercoaster at Dollywood than a B&M imo
I just took my family for our first visit to Dollywood and the surrounding region, partially inspired by this video. I loved all of the coasters, except Lightning Rod which was down the whole week we were there. The water coaster was also down, which means both headliners weren't open during our visit. That being said, we had a blast and love both days we spent in the parks. My son, a timid enthusiast with very specific sensory needs, discovered he loves Dragonflyer and wants to ride other coasters of that type. The cinnamon bread was also as amazing as you said. My addition to the park would be a sky chair ride from the front to the back of the park, perhaps weaving through Flying Eagle. Thanks for the awesome videos, and I hope you review Iowa's new park at some point.
I just got back from Pigeon forge, Gatlinburg, and all the town's in-between all the way up to the Smokey mountains. I got to go into Dollywood. Yes the food is great. Rides are amazing. Good kids area! I felt like a kid again! But closes at 6 due to Covid.
Definitely one of the tops parks I want to get to one of these days...after all this BS is over with... in California , we were going to go to Lagoon Park this last June for the first time...but we couldn't do that... Maybe next year will just take a big road trip and hit Lagoon , Holiday World , Dollywood , Silver Dollar City and then the Florida Parks...then hit all the rest on the way back...Places like Indiana Beach that I donated to and go check out my brick I bought lol
Taking my first trip here this year, along with trips to carowinds, michigans adventure, SfGAm, and a few smaller parks. Possibly KD, BGW, and a couple parks in Pennsylvania as well.
the STEAM TRAIN actually started the park. It was REBEL RAILROAD as a stand alone heritage tourist line which was bought and expanded into a theme park. I love it
Jukebox Junction is themed to the 1950s, I've always thought they could do an area next to it themed to Hollywood and call it Dollywood Studios. It would be a great place for a dark ride themed to Dolly's acting career. Who wouldn't want a Dolly audio-animatronic?
Really Great Video! Thanks for doing it so professionally and without any extra baggage 👍😜 back to the roots 🌱 of your channel... Clean, clear and very enjoyable.
Can't wait to get out here for opening day! Also hot take, I always take the path by craftsman's valley to hit Barnstormer, Daredevil Falls, and Blazing Fury first in the summer! Keeps you nice and cool in the loop without water rides plus there is never a wait in the morning for those. Also you all need the kettle corn at SDC or Dollywood in your life! Been lucky enough to be a passholder since I was four and even after a couple of moves I always make it back to Dollywood.
I went there in 2009 when I was 4. Since then I have been going there every year even though I don't even live close. Its crazy to see how popular it has gotten!
Do they still have those huge skillets grilling corn still in the husk? I don't know why but that's one of the few vivid memories I have of Pigeon Forge. That, the slidewinder, treehouse golf, and dudes riding ostriches at the Dixie Stampede
My home park (I live in Western NC at the TN border)! It's been insane seeing it grow since my first visit in 2005. The customer service and overall laid back feel of the park is what keeps me renewing my season pass every year.
I been to Gatlinburg,TN about 5 times and have never been to Dollywood. I believe it because there is so much to do there. Hopefully the next time I go to that area I will go there.
Wow! I havnt seen Dollywood since I was there in the 80’s! It’s really grown💥😮 I had a good time back then, and I bet I would now too. Awesome place. 🌷💥
I went this year during the flower festival with the umbrellas, when I was living in Tennessee for a short period of time. I was blown away with how well they ran lightning Rod, got six rides on it. Also totally agree with your assessment on Thunderhead, I kept hearing it was a middle of the road GCI. But they have done great work on it, I got like three or four rides on it, almost always on the front. Iiiii... missed out on the cinnamon bread...
Jukebox Junction: 80's era? Wow. Showing your youth there. It is clearly, obviously and in every way themed around the 50's. Not even close to the 80's. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
On the topic of pathing at Dollywood, they need one that connects Craftman’s Valley to Wildwood Grove. They used to have Slidewinder which brought you up the hill that wild eagle sits on from the Craftman’s Valley side. The only problem is that it would be a very steep uphill climb and downhill descent to get to Wildwood Grove. I’m sure it’s not even possible but a tunnel through that hill would be incredible. One thing that’s guaranteed about a Dollywood visit is the minimum 5 miles you’re gonna walk 😅
@@MrDeanvalentin you can trust that I’m not the biggest fan of Sea World, but it is beautiful. I will still choose Kings Dominion I’ve BGW any day of the week because Cedar Fair is a better company, and I personally have more nostalgia attached to that park.
I'm gonna be going to Pidgeon Forge tomorrow! So excited to try out some more proper coasters! My first was Mindbender at Six Flags Over Georgia back in 2015.
I actually think SFMM’s is quite cool. It’s a flat park, except for one hill in the center of the park. Pretty interesting if you ask me. Although Dollywood’s is also great.
TAYLOR!!! Update on aunt granny’s: It is not a all you can eat buffet any more. It is not a family style all you can eat restaurant. It still has all of the same tasting food and great service. They did also remodel the inside of it!
So I usually go to Dollywood every year, but haven't went in 2 years. I was like I will just watch this for memories, but now I am bummed because I didn't realize they took out Mountain Slidewinder. I loved that ride! I was hoping to take my 2 oldest daughters on that when the pandemic calms down... Oh well. We still love Dollywood!
I meet Dolly Parton cause my brother was heavily sick he was gonna die but he beat whatever he had but she is such a angel she paid for the whole trip 🥺 wish I was a little bit older to remember it
Younger people used to Magic Mountain having no theming but Six Flags theming might be surprised to learn that MM used to have an area exactly like Craftsmen’s Valley.
I really need to visit this park. It looks superbly well done with a great coaster lineup. I live in Virginia about an hour from Busch Gardens, and this, along with Carowinds, Hershey, and Busch Gardens Tampa, are the four major parks that I hope to visit this year. And don’t forget about the giant new next coaster coming in 2022 or 2023 (I want a Mack Xtreme Spinner)
Dollywood is my # 1 park that I have ever visited, and nothing else even comes close. The coaster collection may not be as good as places like Cedar Point or Magic Mountain, but it's everything else that they do that puts it over the top. I especially love it when parks put on great shows, and Dollywood is among the best.
This is an exceptionally well produced and considered review. Off to the Kennywood review next, which I was going to request if you hadn't already posted.
Great review, this park really does have a ton to offer, not all their coasters are amazing but they sure have something for everyone. I look forward to more coaster and park reviews in the future.
Also what’s interesting to in some parts of the park espically Christmas time when it get really cold u can feel it get colder. Craftsman valley is one.
Just came back from Dollywood for our wedding trip to Pigeon Forge. Great overview, but my one complaint is that you called the Lightning Rod Pavilion an 80s theme 😂 it's the 50s my guy. Still, nailed everything else. We love Dollywood!

This is definitely a park I’d love to visit one day! Dolly Parton is a national treasure, and there is no doubt the park is just as radical as she is!
I grew up coming to this park a week or two a year and I really took it for granted. It's an incredible park all-around.
Wow Thank you so much for editing it in 21:9! watching it with ultrawide screen was priceless :D
I just got back from Pigeon forge, Gatlinburg, and all the town's in-between all the way up to the Smokey mountains. I got to go into Dollywood. Yes the food is great. Rides are amazing. Good kids area! I felt like a kid again! But closes at 6 due to Covid.
it’s sooo amazing, i don’t know if it’s just cause i live close but it’s so comforting and it feels like home !!! 😊😊😊
Been goin here since I was little..im 37 now and still love this place....

Lmaoooo same with Walt
We go to Gburg/Pigeon forge as a family but we haven't been to Dollywood yet. Happening next year 100%. Great channel.
I couldn’t ride lightning rod because when I went it was out of order for some reason In 2018
Definitely one of the tops parks I want to get to one of these days...after all this BS is over with...
in California , we were going to go to Lagoon Park this last June for the first time...but we couldn't do that...
Possibly KD, BGW, and a couple parks in Pennsylvania as well.
plan to go the the water park at Michigan’s Adventure as it's the best part of the park.
the STEAM TRAIN actually started the park. It was REBEL RAILROAD as a stand alone heritage tourist line which was bought and expanded into a theme park. I love it
Yes. That is correct. My dad went to it as the Rebel Railroad and has been going back ever since.
Jukebox Junction is themed to the 1950s, I've always thought they could do an area next to it themed to Hollywood and call it Dollywood Studios. It would be a great place for a dark ride themed to Dolly's acting career. Who wouldn't want a Dolly audio-animatronic?
Just there 4 days ago from Chicago. Wish I lived closer. Love the entire park. The whole theme. Jist family friendly.
Really Great Video! Thanks for doing it so professionally and without any extra baggage 👍😜 back to the roots 🌱 of your channel... Clean, clear and very enjoyable.
Couldn't come up with anything else to say about Dollywood myself! This park is one of those rare parks that I'd call truly perfect.
I have been going to Dollywood almost every year since 6. I am now 28 and still love going, planing my 2021 trip now
Absolutely beautiful. I'm so thrilled that it's my home park.
Blazing fury traumatized me when I was like 5 years old LOL
I love Dollywood especially at Christmas time! It's probably my favorite all-around park!
Bro I also live near the tn border about 15 mins away
I been to Gatlinburg,TN about 5 times and have never been to Dollywood.
I believe it because there is so much to do there.
Hopefully the next time I go to that area I will go there.
Wow!
I havnt seen Dollywood since I was there in the 80’s!
It’s really grown💥😮
I had a good time back then, and I bet I would now too.
Awesome place. 🌷💥
Well, there is nothing like finding yourself in a Coaster Studios video! Awesome!
Dollywood is what Seaworld and Busch Gardens wishes they were.
Which Busch Gardens are you referring to? BGW is still voted most beautiful park in the world, although I think that’s rigged.
@@scottnelson9 BGW is a beautiful park but the company as a whole wishes that they could operate at the same caliber as Herschend family group.
@@MrDeanvalentin you can trust that I’m not the biggest fan of Sea World, but it is beautiful. I will still choose Kings Dominion I’ve BGW any day of the week because Cedar Fair is a better company, and I personally have more nostalgia attached to that park.
@@scottnelson9 BGT is better, case closed. BGW is for losers.
Nah just sea world
I feel so lucky to have Dollywood as my home park, it feels like a second home to me I love going
I watched this at 1.75x speed and got the gist of the park in under 10 minutes. Thanks for making the video! It was very good.
I got lucky on my visit with everything open and how it had extremely low crowds.
Same
I'm gonna be going to Pidgeon Forge tomorrow! So excited to try out some more proper coasters! My first was Mindbender at Six Flags Over Georgia back in 2015.
Blazing Fury was my all time favorite as a kid.
Dollywood’s terrain is like six flags magic mountain but better
I actually think SFMM’s is quite cool. It’s a flat park, except for one hill in the center of the park. Pretty interesting if you ask me. Although Dollywood’s is also great.
I hate that about MM
The ninja climb? That is brutal

TAYLOR!!! Update on aunt granny’s:
It is not a all you can eat buffet any more. It is not a family style all you can eat restaurant. It still has all of the same tasting food and great service. They did also remodel the inside of it!
I am aware, I ate there this past year in the new style
4:15 also him “we got to be the first ones in line for lightning rod
So I usually go to Dollywood every year, but haven't went in 2 years. I was like I will just watch this for memories, but now I am bummed because I didn't realize they took out Mountain Slidewinder. I loved that ride! I was hoping to take my 2 oldest daughters on that when the pandemic calms down... Oh well. We still love Dollywood!
I meet Dolly Parton cause my brother was heavily sick he was gonna die but he beat whatever he had but she is such a angel she paid for the whole trip 🥺 wish I was a little bit older to remember it
Been going to Dollywood since 05. It’s grown so much
Younger people used to Magic Mountain having no theming but Six Flags theming might be surprised to learn that MM used to have an area exactly like Craftsmen’s Valley.
I’m gonna visit Dollywood tomorrow. Now I’m hyped!!
I’m going to Dollywood in a week and I can’t wait!
The Dollywood cabin are also amazing. Above It All was the cabin we stayed at, wouldn’t change that for anything.
Just came back from Dollywood for our wedding trip to Pigeon Forge. Great overview, but my one complaint is that you called the Lightning Rod Pavilion an 80s theme 😂 it's the 50s my guy. Still, nailed everything else. We love Dollywood!
