    Very helpful. Was trying to completely understand if Thunderbolt 3 & USB Type C are interchangable even though they use the SAME PORTS (I blame apple lol). I had a hunch it wouldn't work but good to know. Thanks for the video!

    Thanks man! I went straight into the USB-C trap :(

      Make sure you’re actually using a Thunderbolt cable and not a USB-C cable. Also download the most recent software for your product at www.BlackmagicDesign.com.

    I have a mirrorless camera (Sony a6400) to set at 1080p/30fps to do Zoom conferences. My budget is $300 (but I would spend up to $500 if necessary). D you know how much m-jpeg compression matters for my situation versus an uncompressed stream going out of a capture card? What product do you recommend that is very low latency and as high-quality image as possible for the purpose of Zoom conferences at 1080p30 (although I am guessing Zoom will compress it)? I considered the Magewell Capture HDMI Gen 2, the devices in this video, the Elgato Cam Link, and the Blackmagic ATEM Mini. Thanks for any help.

      Streaming and compression go hand in hand. Uncompressed is best suited for the editing, compositing, and color grading realm. Try different compression schemes and see how they look in your end product.

    I have the original Ultra Studio Mini Recorder (not 3G) and it has a mini display port connection with a Thunderbolt symbol. What's up with that? My PC has a thunderbolt (USB-C) and a Display port connection. I can't get it to show up in the Desktop video app.

    Maybe you could reply with instructions how to connect a SONY DSR-45 deck connected to a new Mac with this device. I've got it hooked up, have the correct cables, but the software doesn't recognize there is anything connected to the Recorder.

    I am using Thunderbolt 3(0.8M) and Mac book pro2016 to test it, but it still can't recognit it (the led light is on), I don't know why, if I using the cable which is Mac book pro original power cable, it said that it isn't Thunderbolt cable
    I also have a Asus Z690 Hero PC, it has Thunderbolt 4 port, but it still didn't work

    Im having a problem with audio going through. I have a program feed ( audio and video) going from an ATEM television studio and I have it connected to a Mac. I launch the livestream software we use here and with nothing playing im getting a static feedback buzzing type noise on the software. I check the audio going into the ATEM and it's showing no sound is going through (-infinity db) , but for some reason I'm still getting a slight buzzing sound on the computer. I can over compensate and play our audio much louder then the static, I just don't know what to do to get rid of it.

    Would this black magic ultrastudio 3G recorder work on the mac mini mi chip computers? If so, you would need a thunderbolt 3 to USBC adapter, right?

    I have a 2016 MacBook Pro. I tried to see what thunderbolt i had but couldn't. Now, I have a TB 3 adapter IN THE 3G, and a thunderbolt 2 cable going to my MB Pro (just in case it isn't TB 3). Neither my HDMI camera nor my SDI camera will show up in OSB. Am I doing something wrong? Sorry to assume you can or will help, but thanks either way.

      A 2016 MBP should have a Thunderbolt 3 port. This video is using a 2016 MBP.

    • @Sandyaudiovisual
      @Sandyaudiovisual  3 года назад +1

      No. It requires a Thunderbolt 3 port. A Thunderbolt 3 port is also a USB port, but a usb-c port is not a Thunderbolt port.
