Not at all. Yoga means union with your inner divine and the divine outside and in each being. It means thw ultimate union. And vipassana meditation has been my best discovery in being in union. Meditation is the 7th limb of the 8 limbs of Yoga. The other yoga practices you are probably referring to are yogasan, pranayam, pratyahar, kriyas. These are cleansing practices that "prepare" and "purify" the body to experience this oneness. Vipassana helps experience yoga aka oneness at all times with continuous practice. There are more modified versions of the yoga practices that aren't authentic and create more Rajas in the energy field and thus take us away from feeling oneness. So we have to be careful in knowing what to practice and how to practice it. Hope I have answered your question.
