Pay your shoveler 30 bucks an hour and you'll find one. You may take a small loss but you won't feel it when shoveling gets done on time every time. It's hard work. Pay the man/kid.

95% of the time its rear plow as most of my route doesn't require salt. Thanks for watching!

Ive given up on shovelers! Luckily most of our accounts now, we can either get up on them with a truck or just back drag the walks into the lot then just plow it away. I still have a handful of places we have to shovel but luckily my plow guys dont mind doing them and I pay them the money I would give to a sidewalk guy on top of their plowing rate. The last time I had sidewalk guys I paid a flat rate per property and it was very, very lucrative for them, on a normal 2-4" storm they would make somewhere around the 300.00 mark in about 5 hours so roughly 60/hr using all of our crap (shovels, salt, blowers) but I guess they liked sitting at home just existing!
We always get around 10 shovelers to come to our meeting and by the end of the season we might have 1 or 2 left.
Have you ever tried a backpack type blower on that light snow on the sidewalks?

I do realize I'm a bit late but i just saw this video just a suggestion for your side walk clearing maybe get a more mature and responsible person with one of your skid steer or track loader your walk way are wide enfeoff to do so it would be ease-re and faster and the issue of no call no show should accrue less often Just saying Yves from Canada

nobody wants to Shovel these days or work for that. I do 50% of the shoveling and have to plow too, but i get paid my plow rate when I shovel since I'm supposed to be plow guy so what 3 guys are getting to shovel I make that shoveling, so its a win for me
