    great video. the landing area drill is the best improvement I have made with my chipping. This drill was in you skills improvement program and I thank you very much for helping me improve. I have taken the drill described about and now standardised a 6m carry on every green and determined the roll out for 6, 7, 8 ,9 W 52 56. Then I write it down roll out on a score card. By using this method I can adjust to speed of greens at every course I play. helped me chip close on 3 occasions yesterday to win my pennant match. Thank you

    Being a seasoned veteran of your excellent advice, these are thankfully no longer on my hit list! Had a good round yesterday shooting 88 (good for me, 36 stableford), whilst only 30 miles up the road were covered in snow, we managed to avoid it. Played with half a set as we had to carry, and other than missing my favourite fringe chipping club (6iron), probably played better as made better decisions - I'm sure the weakest club in the bag is the brain. Have a great week!

      You have come a long way Adi.
      Great score yesterday. I'm glad you got the round in.
      Simplifying your choices does help.
      People are often amazed at their scores in events like a 3 club event.
      That 6 inch fairway between the ears is indeed our greatest challenge.

    Good solid tips! One thing I like when the course is right -- especially in the warmer months with firm surrounds (depends on each course) is putting from that distance too. I played a lot of golf with my Pop in my teens, he was around a 12 handicap and had a lovely blade putter (which I've kept since he passed) that he was very crafty with -- even in a firm bunker without a lip! He was very handy in an Ambrose team event to get a "safe" shot with that putter and if it's the right course setup, I still remember him doing that and often putt, or use a mid-iron very much with a putting stroke.

      Honestly Dean I would putt from that distance (in those circumstances) every single time.
      I would do this not because I can't chip very well but it gives me the best chance of holing it.
      I have done my own research and development (for me) on this and the putter wins every time.
      I have made many videos on this in the oast and will continue to do so.
      But this was a chipping video not a shot selection video.
      Thanks for watching and contributing.

    Excellent advice Brian. I now use a hybrid as you have suggested previously. Thanks David

    Excellent video Brian on common chipping mistakes. I'll have to admit I've had my share of chipping mistakes lately. I have always chosen a landing area of approximately three feet on the green. In viewing this video, I think my error has been in my set up. I don't always go with the upright putter set up and there in lies my problem. This will change! Thanks Brian for the "heads up!"

      Thius video is no match for your secret weapon of course David.
      I hope the sun is strting to come out and dry up your course.

      @@fitzygolfpro Ah the secret weapon is now in my Grandson Joshua's bag. Still very wet and no buggies but he found a course open today and played 18 with his mates. He shot a respectable 92.
      Struggled with his chipping and resorted to his p.wedge.After Sunday lunch took him to my garage and suggested the one length hybrid. So it now has a new home. We sat and watched your video regarding driver and woods etc. So now he's fully clued up about release. Funnily enough he'd mentioned topping woods and hybrids. So he now has a locker and WWBD on the door!
      He's busy arranging golf with his mates when they go to Tennerife this year. Apart from Uni the golf bug has bitten him hard I am pleased to say.

    You mentioned pitching, is it similar with regard to the toe down/heal up club set up that you explained for a chip?

    • @fitzygolfpro
      @fitzygolfpro  9 месяцев назад +1

      no not at all Darren.
      They are totally unrelated.
      Chipping is related to putting and pitching is related to a normal golf swing.

    Il est vrai qu'a choisir, je préfère le coup roulé, que de me servir du lob shot, sauf si un obstacle m'y oblige, sinon je joue le coup roulé pour rentrer la balle et au pire un seul putt , c'est l'objectif.
    merci Brian, bonne journée et bon golf.

    Just use a hybrid club; much easier!

    • @fitzygolfpro
      @fitzygolfpro  9 месяцев назад

      As far as shot choices go I agree with you in the hybrid or the putter.
      Regular views to this channel know how I feel about keeping the ball on the ground for these shots.
      I would putt from this location every time.
      But the video was about chipping from that spot.
      Thanks for watching.
