I don't understand when it's said without initiation it can cause damage. I came across the Gayatri Mantra by accident before I knew anything about Sanskrit language. I found the sounds drew me in everytime it popped up on my RUclips channel and I found I was making the sounds without knowing a thing about the language or meaning. The more it drew me in is when I looked it up.
My life became a new life with this Mantra yet I wasn't initiated into it.

I am a Buddhist (Hindu) because ALL Indians were Lord Buddha's followers about 2000 years ago.
All so called sanatan Dharma is of Buddhist origin.
Lord Buddha is a reincarnation Brahma Vishnu Maheshwara all merged.
We, the meagre Indians drifted towards superstition and blind beliefs.
Maha Mrutyunja Mantra is the proof of this. It says oh Lord liberate me from the life cycle full of Janma Mrityu Jara Vyaadhi.
Lord Buddha simplified the same as the ultimate enlightenment.
Buddhism is not a religion, but the way to follow for a happy life.

Before drinking water, I always pray with Gayatri Mantra (Om Bhur, Bhuvah, Swa...), and my water literally responds to me with waves in it and I smile at my water and then drink it. I have been doing this for a year now without missing even once. Just by doing this, (according to people around me) I have become so sweet person. People around me love me for no reason. Actually, 70% of our body is Water. So always drink Mantrafied water, that will always put you in bliss.

Sri Uday, thank you for this wonderful explanation. To my fellow viewers and commenters, thank you for sharing with us also. I am a citizen of the USA, and I often feel poisoned by the experience of living here - I turned away from the Christian Church long ago, seeing it as corrupted by greed and pride, spreading false messages. I renounced any and all feelings or thoughts of the Divine for over 20 years.
Then I received a very clear vision of what I interpret to be Garuda, then Ganesha... I tried to deny still but I kept getting these feelings... Especially for Lord Shiva, I started getting a strong feeling of reverence for शिव. I don't know how to connect with a guru and my mistrust of "priests" runs deep (I know this is probably not the best comparison but I don't know much about gurus). I have just learned that Krishna is known as jadguru, guru of all the gurus so I will appeal to him directly. I feel the same way about Gayatri: if my sibling gets between me and my mother, the natural reaction is to try to walk around and go to her.
I feel no ill will towards people who disagree. May we all have the courage to face punishment for wrong action and make the necessary changes in our lives.

I do have one concern: because of Sandhi when you are presenting the individual words of the mantra in isolation (for explanation) their spelling and pronunciation may vary from when they are spoken in the mantra. Since non-Sanskrit speakers are probably not aware of this issue they may become confused about the correct pronunciations. I think it would be very helpful to briefly explain this issue.
