  • This is a very detailed video on how to perform a fuel tank tuck on all Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ. I'll show you all the differences from the early 99-01 and the late models 02-04 and will cover different ways to perform this tuck.
This is also a great video on how to remove the bumper cover and how to lower the gas tank.

Martin your putting these Chrysler Engineers to Shame. So to give you a place for a Spare Tire they Drop the Fuel Tank to a location that looks about as unsafe as you can get. Chrysler should have Tucked the Tank and gave a small donut mounted like they did in the 2000 XJ. Or do what they do now Delete the Spare Tire. All they did was leave themselves open to some serious Law Suits. Then the access Door to get at the Fuel Pump is something all Auto Makers should be doing. What a Nightmare Job just to replace the Fuel Pump.

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  4 года назад

thank you, Charles, yes they should have known and probably did. Many auto makers now have the access panel under the back seat.

Yes, an engineer. I asked a lot of mechanics on RUclips to help me solve the faults in my 2004 Grand Cherokee.
Which my brother gave me from the United States of America.
In fact, I told him at the beginning not to buy me a jeep
The reason is that it is a car that is not widespread with us, and its agent demands very high prices in the price of spare parts and does not provide them completely, and the company is a Jeep company, a company that does not care about the future of its cars in our country, the Republic of Yemen, located south of Saudi Arabia.
What is important, my brother bought it, and when I saw it, it was a beautiful car, we customs it and took it out of the enamel at the end of 2012, and when my brother drove by it, he was amazed that it was very slow and heavy to walk and said its money was fast. I took the car from it and used it to this day.
I discovered that it had faults as a result of faults and that it was considered a higher conversation, as I had Japanese cars that had no computers or sensors, and I could not understand them and I thought that I would overcome their faults by finding alternatives to their parts, but I knew the work of computers and sensors and their connection to each other makes it very difficult to compose alternative parts
    I will continue ..
One of the most important faults is its fuel dispensing in a very large way, in 100 kilometers it spends 20 liters
The second malfunction was the gasoline vapor, which was causing the gasoline odor to spread inside the cabin
Other holidays are very slow torque
The third malfunction turns off its engine for a few seconds while it is walking
    Just seconds.
The fourth malfunction is the smuggling of hot gases from the engine to the radiator, as a result of the fans stopping, so the engine overheated badly before
The important thing is now, I want to know how to make the parts of the evaporation system generously, how I can discover the faults in it and how to install them correctly.
The truth is that the company is trivial in many matters
For example, when the fans have stopped, there is no substitute for their work. If you are not careful, do not realize that the fans have stopped until the head of the engine has been struck.
Gasoline vapor has many confusing parts and is tight for maintenance
Likewise, the gasoline pump needs to be removed from the tank
Fuel filtering is complicated and not the same as other cars, so it is not available or available and is very expensive.
    There are no benzene pellets
The plexus and its strings do not dissolve easily
The raw materials for the pipes inside the engine are very poor
    Harden and crack.
The car has plastic bumpers and there are no towing hooks to drag anything
The headlights are difficult to weigh, and the color of the glass becomes opaque
There are a lot of ridiculous things these companies do not want their cars to spread so they leave matters to their greedy agent.
Imagine the price of headlamps or headlights and taillights sells them for 1150 dollars, while in America they are all for 250 dollars
Many talk, thank you for your patience
With you was Muhammad Ahmad Al-Danoun from YemenImportant faults followed.

I have a 2002 and when I read about this after I got my Jeep I was really disappointed how Jeep handled this whole situation. Their only fix was to add a tow hitch after market. And I don't see how that adds much protection. If you can do this, my question is why didn't Jeep recall these years and fix it? I know, "money" - but, what about Jeeps' integrity? Outside of this issue, I absolutely love my Laredo. Not the gas mileage though. LOL!

    Hello just saw your video
    I live in Pahrump
And I just took possession of a 02 grand Cherokee
With the gas tank out for a bad fuel pump
But the replacement they acquired looks the same but does not fit
It seems like it’s to big for the whole
It does push down to the correct high but will not fit in hole the gasket seems to thick or the dia of the head is to big
Have you heard of this before
And how often are you changing these pumps

Had an 04 and gave the step daughter the jeep and she did nothing but beat that thing it had 330k miles good running straight 6 hard shifting transmission 4wd worked great still. She came home one day and I could hear something coming down the road it was her and she was dragging the gas tank behind her!! 😑😬... I mean what a mess idk how the hell she didn’t blow up, it had a thin steel bracket that rusted out that held the plastic tank up in there. So with ratchet straps I got it back up in there n it even kinda raised it.

MAYBE IT WORKED CAUSE THEY HAD THE FUEL RESET BUTTON IN THE TRUNK SO IF HIT IT WOULD SHUT THE PRESSURIZED FUEL SYSTEM DOWN. BUT ANYWAYS. That's exactly what I don't like on my 01 GC. The gas tank is mounted so low to the ground. Wish I could do this to mine. Just wanted to ask you, have you ever used a Superchips tuner on a 01 GC 4.7 non HO before? Thinking about buying one to boost the HP a little and to eliminate the speed limiter too. Not that I plan to drive over a 100 mph though. Thanks Martin.

    • @martinbuilt

A thicker plate will reduce the drum effect but only a little. You could use 3/8 angle iron and weld an X to the bottom of the plate would reinforce the plate.

And personally am glad it is where it is because on the earlier model Grand Cherokees it was under the hood and I don't much care for that because I have been trying to clean up the engine Bay by doing wire tucks and relocating the battery and power distribution center.
Know if you Are doing a fuel tank tuck You could relocate it to the top of the fuel tank and put a plate across the tire well
