First EP of Philadelphia indie/alt rock band Palm. Digitized because it appears this is out of print. They are very much still active and releasing new material on bandcamp. Got some classic era Sonic Youth vibes off this among other things. Good stuff.

Sometimes I miss their rawer, mathier stuff, but I love their new poppy stuff too
Its amazing how talented they were at there very first release. I'd argue there new stuff is more technical and on a further music level tho. Definetely a happier poppier sound but also more distinct and specific to them. I'd say that forced hand may be the most technical(mathiest) of what they've written. I talked to eve about them ever playing it live and she said "I hate that one it's so hard to play." Hahah this e.p. is amazing tho I cant believe I'm just hearing it. I thought ostrich vacation was there only release before trading basics cause this isn't on bandcamp

Why did they pull this off their BC?, it sounded so unique compared with their new stuff
When they said they were both mostly self taught I felt almost defeated. They could come up my favorite music I've ever listened to, as I struggle to improvise any kind of actual rythm. Sometimes it clicks but i end up putting the guitar down.
Maybe you're just not talented at music.

3D, something to try don't improvise rhythm, just play a single particular rhythmic figure in a repeating pattern, get in the center of it, own it. That can be the basis. of subsequent expression. What Palm is doing here results from sustained dedication over years, and a commitment to ensemble
