      AL Yeah definitely. My first hobby grade RC had a mechanical speed control and it was ok. Until I put a hopped up motor it it. 🤣😂 The 3 step speed control suddenly made it a difficult drive. I had some serious jealousy over my friends fancy electronic speed controlled rig. Technology has come a long way indeed. What ESC are you using the app with, the Axe?

      I don't think the Max 10 has the ability to be programmed with the App unless you have the external WiFi adapter. However it should come with a program card for making the needed changes. If not they are cheap. I have a separate video for using those program cards and the Hobbywing programming box for programming ESC's that require a physical connection to make any changes.

      My apologies for not being clear in the video about which ESC's the App would work on.

    Great video and much appreciated. But I think from my own experience and all the videos and forums I been researching on state that no changes made in the app will take effect on the truck until the power is cycled off and back on. Or another way HW says to work around this is to just turn BT off on phone so disconnects from the truck then turn back on and re connect. I don't think changes will take effect on the rig until power is cycled.

    • @TJsRC
      @TJsRC  Год назад

      I was thinking about this and I was going to say I never noticed this but as I thought about it. Every time I made changes the truck was then powered off before we went out and used it. I may have to experiment with this more to make sure.

    its a shame it seems this system crawls so much better than the mamba x because this is SOOO limited in programing. even the software for the mamba is WAY better. its really nice that in each tab in the castle link program theres a little help icon that tells you exactly what each setting does and how the changes affect the car. theres also more than only 3 settings for each tab which seems extremely limiting.

    If you read the app reviews, a lot of people including myself are not able to connect to the esc via app (i just bought this system and have not been able to get it to work. I have tried on android 10, my old S7 and also an apple phone all not able to connect, i get a message ""please confirm: 1) esc is turned on 2) bluetooth module on your smart phone is activated" which of course are all on.
    Any idea what i'm missing?

    • @TJsRC
      @TJsRC  4 года назад +1

      Vinh Ky I am not sure. The only trouble I had seen was when people tried connecting the app to an ESC that didn't actually have the built in Bluetooth capabilities. The only experience I have is using the App with Hobbywing's AXE system ESC. I followed the instructions and it connected with out any trouble. I guess assuming your Hobbywing ESC either has Bluetooth or the Bluetooth accessory. Double check your connections, is the battery connected and charged then make sure the ESC indicator light comes on when you power it up. The rest should all be up to your smartphone I believe. With the ESC powered check your Bluetooth local devices area in phone settings to see if it shows up if so go back and restart the app. You probably already did these steps but it doesn't hurt to go back through once more super slowly double checking each step. I'm sorry that I can't be more helpful than suggesting the "just try again" method. Let me know if you figure it out or not. I wish I had more experience with it to have better advise for you. Best of luck with it my friend.

      @@TJsRC Thanks for the advice and reply!
      I've got a thread going on with my issue: www.reddit.com/r/rccars/comments/fzk4dy/hobbywing_axe_foc_esc_issues/
      But to summerize, i think i'm arriving that i have the 30112100 esc which is the older esc which can communicate with 540 motors... I do see that esc being able to work with the 550 motor (which i have) BUTT you have to update the firmware.
      So without a 540 motor.. i think the esc won't communicate with any devices or function properly as all the directions do state "connect sensor wire to motor,."
      I think if i can find a 540 motor to have it update then connect my 550 motor calibrate....
      But.. obviously... that's a tough route, ideally... if there's a way to update the esc firmware w/o a motor...

    Hey do you happen to know if I were to up the voltage on the bec to 7.4 in my trx6, will it overload my stock led lighting kit even though it's running through a voltage regulator?

    • @TJsRC
      @TJsRC  2 года назад +1

      Off hand I don't know but to figure it out we just need the model number and or part number of the regulator in order to look up the input voltage specs. If this is stock then the p/n should be printed on it and listed in the user manual.

      It looks like there is a new version of this app in the app store it's called "HW Link V2" I downloaded both the original and the V2 app and was able to get both of them to connect using the default password so try downloading whichever version you don't currently have and see if you can get that one to connect. If it still doesn't work contact Hobbywing support and they may be able to give you some options. Good luck my friend

      Open the App, there's a button in the upper right hand corner that is the Bluetooth pairing button. The ESC must be powered on first or it won't show up as an option to connect to.

      It looks like the ESC automatically records the data. However in order to access it with the HW V2 App you need the OTA program adapter because the ESC doesn't have built-in Bluetooth like the AXE ESC in the video. It does look like you can view the data with the HW LCD program box G2 but the App is so much more easy to use. I found this info in section 5 of the user manual here. cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0109/9702/files/User_Manual_

      The App only works with Bluetooth capable Hobbywing ESC's. If yours doesn't have that option you will have to use a program card or the USB program box. I have a separate video on how to use those if you aren't familiar with them.

    • @TJsRC
      @TJsRC  3 года назад +1

      That ESC does have the Bluetooth built in so you don't need any additional Bluetooth module. Are you using the new Hobbywing app? It's called "HW Link V2" For the app to connect you have to power up the truck, have the wheels off the ground for this, then open the App and try connecting the Bluetooth. The first time you connect you will have to input a password but I believe the default one is in the axe instruction manual which you can find here if you don't have a copy.
      www.hobbywing.com/products/enpdf/XERUNAXER2en.pdf
      Step 4 in the manual does show how to connect the app with the ESC if you want more details.
