This (0:23) is a masterful example of the uncanny valley. It seems a completely normal snapshot of mid 20th century family together in the family room. Mother ironing, father reading the paper and sitting next to sister on the sofa. Like a snapshot, nothing is moving. As we get closer we begin to notice that something isn't right, it's not a snapshot, it's a scene. The family is in these completely non-threatening poses, but they're not moving the way people move. Even when sitting still, people move. These people don't. We begin to feel unsettled. The notion of a normal family sitting in the family room together, but not moving, is extremely uncanny and it begins to give us that sense deep down that something is wrong. Literally nothing overtly frightening exists in the scene. Simply the lack of normal human movement is enough to trigger our stress hormones, priming the most primitive parts of our brains to be on the lookout for danger. The scene is at it's most frightening when the light casts across mother's face and she blinks! These people are alive! (This is foreshadowed by slight movements in sister's face at the start). Living things that are very still soon start moving again. When will these start moving and why and what will they do? The rest of the scene builds on this initial realization and delivers at least 2 or 3 more uncanny valley moments to make this one of the more memorable horror scenes in recent memory.
Love how you can see them beginning to awaken from the whole perpetual torment that plays into what the medium says about it being a place beyond time because they sense his presence - you clearly see the lady blink after he's inspected the room... but watch the nostrils of the first person he examines.

The only thing i never understood exactly it's why the doll girl (killer) would stay in the after life with the family that she killed by herself and they apparently are colaborating with her. It makes the scene looks even creepier, but i don't see much logic here, always thought that her family would be running from her inside the home, trying to escape and getting caught in the end. The way that her family seems to be ok with living with their killer just makes me think that they're enjoying all the process 😂

That episode was from criminal minds
0:00 to 2:20 is my favorite scene out of every insidious movie, it’s just so good. I came back to watch it again.

Clown activities. It's 2:28am...
I know, nightmare fuel
Insidious is much better than the Conjuring
I'm NOT going to lie I found Insidious much scarier
2:03 that was scary and creepy
The one who plays the mother at 0:56, isn't it Bonnie Aarons (the Nun actress) ?

Or maybe their souls are just in a endless loop of the traumatic event😢they probably don’t have any control of it
@RxyaltyFN Your actually right they're in a loop and the family started to enjoy the process of them getting murdered
