This was sick. I’ve been told learning merch design is in demand these days, and seeing how you came up with this in a couple of minutes without any tedious drawing and planning or complicated processes is inspring. Thanks for the inspiration & the video🤞🏻
Appreciate this channel a lot especially being a graphic designer def going through that wall sometimes and need inspiration I def come to this channel.
3 question. 1-Where do you get the shirts and hoodie mock-up? 2- how to change the T-shirt mock up colour? 3-how to make save all the design as a vector file for printing
1: You can find them online just by searching something like "black t-shirt template" or "white hoodie mockup". Most of them you'll have to pay to license them, but if you're just using it to see how it looks, you can always save the image or screenshot it. 2. When he's showing you how to change the color of "evolution" in the video, you can do the same thing for the mock-ups or look up different colored mockups online to license. 3. Vector files are only available in Adobe Illustrator and not Photoshop. Illustrator is a bit harder to use if you're a beginner in my own personal experience and all the things he was doing in the video are more meant to be done on Photoshop anyway. Depending on the company you work with, you don't need a vector file to do printing either. A high-quality JPG or PNG can work as well, you just have to make sure when you are starting a new project to make the dimensions higher for a higher-quality print. Keep in mind though the images you choose to use for the design should fit within this because sizing the images up will lower the quality.
@@catpokerlicense for mockups it doesn’t really matter if you’re just looking to see how it looks. If you’re making them to showcase than any HD resolution is good. I usually will do 2160x1080 for example, depends on what you’re using it for. Now, resolution on the actual files that you’re going to use to print on real t-shirts is completely dependent on the company or person you are printing the shirts through. They will tell you what resolution is needed usually or you can ask. But, it is usually a higher resolution because obviously you want your art to be printed in high resolution haha
@@YunginYu thank you so much! I figured there would have been some sort of industry standard for what resolution translates best to print(idk if it even works like that)
@@catpokerlicense there isn’t really actually! All I can say is that you should always do a pretty high resolution. When I design logos I usually start with at least 2000px by 2000px for printing and you can adjust to your needs. Especially with photoshop since resizing up on photoshop will almost certainly distort it unlike illustrator where its vectors and resizing doesnt affect it much. But, from my experience every company basically has different dimensions (max and min) required for printing as well as format for the designs. This is coming from someone who’s worked with countless companies on a bunch of projects of 100+ items of apparel, so if you have any other questions just let me know!
Hey Charley, thanks for this video. I'm confused by one part. At 13:00, you delete the white background using color range. But it looks like you first created a new layer with just the black on it? Can you tell me what you did there because this step was skipped over in the video. Thanks!
I most likely deleted the background so I have a transparent design. I added a new layer with a solid black background so I can toggle it on and off to visualize what the design would look like on a black bg.
@@ByCharleyDean i had the same issue. At 13:00, a new layer appeared and you deleted the white background but it's not working here. And also the video skipped at that part. Can you please check and tell me what you did there pleaseeeeeeeee. Your tutorial is amazing by the way.
