For anyone asking about the rivet size. The rivets for the regulator and panel are 1/4. The small one he grinds down is probably 5/32 or 3/16. I brought the exact rivet gun he's using from Harbor Freight for $20. It comes with 10 1/4, 3/16, 5/32, 1/8, and 3/32 rivets. So, you'll need to buy extra 1/4 rivets.
RESEARCH! great video for sure, but after watching a couple other videos, one showed removal of handle. I realized it was better to remove outside handle and 3 door latch screws to eliminate the risk of messing with the white plastic tabs that you pushed inward and the 1 rivet you ground off (5:29) that are very difficult to put back. It looks like you had to rivet the white plastic tabs to stay in.( see at 13:54 ) it also eliminates the need to remove the wire harness to the handle. I think it saved time. Still great quality video. Couldn’t have done it with out you. Big Thanks.
Thanks for the video, you saved me lots of money, the dealer ship wanted$2600.00 to replace it,it cost me,tools and the regulator mechanism less than $300 to get it fixed by watching this step by step guide.Thanks.
My window was stuck all the way down, I used some gorilla tape and stuck some pieces onto the glass and was able to pull it up. I then taped the window up until I was able to replace.

Having difficulty reinstalling the plastic plugs. They video at 13:00 cuts away. How are you holding the part on the backside? When I try to knock in the plugs the part pops in also? Any help would be appreciated! Other than that. They video is great and detailed. Saved me a lot of $$.
Great video.. I'm just curious on why you changing a window regulator and motor that obviously works perfectly. 99.999% of us watching are trying to change a broken part so how to get the window up when the parts are broken would be a really helpful video
This was a great video I'm doing a broken one now I usually work on gm and am still in automotive school. But I appreciate your attention to detail you basically did the job for me 😁

I've ordered the replacement part from you. I think it was asked but not answered: please identify the rivet sizes used, both for the regulator itself and the door panel? Also, my window is down, and of course can't pull it up and tape it now. Any tips for removing the aluminum panel without damaging the glass? That kind of stuff would help these videos a lot. Grind the rivets maybe? Thx!
Right off the bat.....if your regulator cable broke and glass went down into the door, youre not gonna be able to get those first bolts out. The glass slides down so far its near impossible to slide it back up.
Hi I am in the middle of replacing my regulator. Can anyone tell me the name and size of the fasteners that he points out at 5:00 mark and also the part that he grinds off at 5:30.
ok... don't hate me... I spent a good hour trying to get the white plastic "rivets" back in and it was a no go. I used a few zip ties and went through two holes at a time and secured them through the front of the aluminum panel. Everything holds and everything works.
It would help to show the video of how to reset the automatic window settings right after this video. Or edit that part into this one. Redoing all my work because I did not know that the window needed to be programmed with the engine off and hold the up button for 30 seconds and then the down button for 15 to 30 seconds. IF THE WINDOW GOES UP AND COMES DOWN ABOUT HALF AN INCH IT MUST BE RESET OR THE CABLE BREAKS AND YOU GET TO DO ALL OF THIS AGAIN. . .PRO RIVETER NOW!!!
Nice work, but Kind of Pointless video, replacing a regulator that still works. Please show how to remove the glass when the regulator is actually broken stuck down and does not roll up at all.
My problem also but in the end I decided to drill out the 5 rivets that hold the regulartor to the inner panel thus freeing it from the panel. Biggest remaining problem i have is understanding how to remove and then replace the 3 plastic rivets.
@@billkirkpatrick2054 Thanks for this comment, carefully drilling and then chiseling the regulator rivets seems to be the only solution to getting to the glass. Just be careful and don't "drill through" the rivet or bad things may happen to the glass :)

How tight should the 10 mm "U Channel" bolts be torqued to, or should they be tightened all the way down?
Thanks in advance

Could you send the link of the video showing how to remove the outside handle? Thanks.

Thanks a lot for this detailed video , I successfully replaced broken regulator of my 2014 E350, 4Matic - Cheers
What size were the rivets bro? Any recommendations on tools to have too?

I watched a few video's on this subject, and yours by far was the best! Thanks...
How did he get his hand behind that panel for those three plastic pins

you can see that hes holding it with hes hand and a friend is kocking them in with a hammer.
Awesome video. Just finished the project - saved me a bunch of time and some money. Again, thanks!

What size of rivets are those?
Deadass
so what was the rivet size? 1/4" or even larger?
Great video! Does anyone know the Rivet sizes for the regulator?
Great video, regardless if its broken or not its the ENTIRE job. Others have no common sense i guess. Great job.

I can not get that black tab to pop out, I've been fighting with it for 25 minutes
Should do a rear one or is the same concept even though you have the shades in the rear ??
yeah ima gone head and make an appointment to have it done lol. You had me until you started drilling rivets and pulling wires

Careful drilling of the regulator rivets (but not drilling "through" those or the others) was the solution.
Will the part for this particular Mercedes fit a 2012 Mercedes Benz GLK 350?
Any one know what size the rivets are? thks..
Having a really tough time with those 3 plastic rivits around 13:00 anyone find a way to do these? Been trying for over an hour
thank you for this video sir ! much appreciated, hello from Miami, FL , fi ever in Florida, LKM to buy you a drink

I tried this and it didn’t work, are there any more details other than what you wrote?
This video is missing some VERY important information regarding linkage for your door handle.
Save time. Just remove the speaker and get old regulator and new regulator through the speaker hole. No need to remove rivets from panel.
Nice work, but Kind of Pointless video, replacing a regulator that still works. Please show how to remove the glass when the regulator is actually broken stuck down and does not roll up at all.
It helped me? Half of mine was completely ripped out and coiled around the motor.
Removing the motor sometimes will allow the window to be lifted up if its stuck at bottom. The motor can be removed from the front with 3 screws

Thank you bless up
Done right!
It got easy until he started drilling. 😂
