I was pregnant in school, I was 15 years old and had my son at 16 years old. My son is lovely and I have a degree, been living alone since my son was born (since I was 16) Iv always worked and I'm quite ambitious but all my life I have faced nothing but discrimination due to being a teenage mum. In all my job roles (corporate jobs banking law etc) everyone is your friend until your 18 years and you tell someone your child is 2 years old and as my son gets older it has got worse. My son is nearly as tall as me and when we are out together and people ask my age and they look at my son like it is my brother but his my son but I just laugh at discrimination just like
Racism I realised these things will never end. I was full time at college working and a full time mum aged 16.

I swear I'm not crying..such a blessing that boy! You didn't talk about ur dads reaction, I understand hmmm. The African community can be so close minded sometimes. Imagine how many young girls have had abortions cos of fear of their parents reaction and the community. And these same parents and community that "judge"us don't teach and talk to us young girls about having safe sex and relationships. You are very strong and brave for keeping Koko regardless of what people said and I applaud you for that. Keep winning sis!!

A while ago, we spoke on sc about how cool your mom is and not like the typical Naija mom, this pretty much proves it. I was pregnant at a young age too, my mom was obligated to help before my son was born. When I went into labor, she spent the whole 10 hours calling me ashewo and yelling at me, saying that's what I get for having sex. Mind you, I was 19, working (I was in the Navy), and in my own apartment where she was staying with ME. Your mom is a true gem! Great story, big deal then but not now. Koko is adorable! My kid is in college and I couldn't be prouder.

That's the thing about African parents, although they want the best for there children they have a very bad habit about pride and if they don't like something there don't try and compromise. I'm a black women and I was a young mum but here in uk black British parents are understanding even though I was 16 years old (my son is 10 years old) where as African parents don't really want to accept teenage pregnancy and they don't understand that their 'shame' can Destoy ones self esteem and leave one feeling useless. That's why some African women don't deal with the parents because of that reason.

Golden states warriors bandwagon Destroyer I was not thinking about the government when I fell pregnant 1) hence why I have a degree... I have never looked to the government for nothing 2) what you are saying is very stereotypical as you believe people think about the government when they have a baby in the uk... sorry but when the rich get pregnant they don't think about the governments and it depends on you as a person and your aspirations and if you are from a family who have relied on the government all their life... for me I'm a very ambitious well educated women and the government never once came into my mind and even when I had my son I never involed the government I did everything my self worked never claim benefits, for a degree, rented my own house all as a single mother. Even know my son is 10 years old I have never relied on the education system here although he goes to school I teach him over what they teach them... the government can not suppress me and thanks for your opinion.

A beautiful story. Koko is so handsome. Unfortunately, I went through this as well, even though I wasn't a teen. I received the most unwelcomed reaction. On track for medical school and pregnant, is not fashionable, I guess lol My story is way too long to share. I appreciate your courage in sharing this with us. The most hurtful part is, our parents consider us to be an embarrassment and disappointment. I was a bit extra and had twin boys though lol. I love them dearly, I almost died have having them, and they almost passed away too, as they were premature. My family didn't even care to come to the hospital, to see if we were alive or dead. I wouldn't change a thing though,no matter how my family continues to reject us. We will make it in this life. God be the glory!! Shame on African/ Caribbean parents for exhibiting this behaviour.

Oh my goodness! You've got me in tears, especially the Mummy and Son moment. All his questions and curiosity. You've done an amazing job, you should be proud. I had my first at 23 and I still wasn't prepared, I still felt too young. No one is ever prepared for having a child, so when God says it's time...its time and you were even given the date. May the creator continue to guide, protect and grant both your needs and dreams. So beautiful ❤❤

Soo beautiful ❤️🙏🏾. I can soo relate. Had my son at a young age and my parents kicked me out just because of that African pride. Had nobody. But now he's 3 and I'm preparing to go and study my midwifery degree 😁. Just got to thank God for everything like literally. None of us know why things happen but at the end of the day God has a plan and purpose for each of us and even though it may not be a straight forward journey we'll get there in the end. I think that's even the beauty of it all cause it just makes you appreciate God even more. Much love 😘❤️

When I tell you our stories are almost IDENTICAL it is crazy. Even as old as I am I was so scared to tell my family lol because I know the stigma and taboo pregnancy out of wedlock holds in our culture. This video could not have came at a more perfect time. @Black Grace...abeg which one of us is not susceptible to sin? I'm not saying sex outside of marriage is the correct thing to do, but at the end of the day we are all human and no one is perfect including yourself. Things happen in this life and it is not up to you, who I can guarantee has committed your fair share of sins, to pass judgment on others. You are entitled to your irrelevant, passive aggressive opinions at the end of the day...be blessed.

Loved this video. I wasn't looking for it but it showed up in my feed. Never even saw you on RUclips before. Made me cry. Confirmation that I need to record my pregnancy story. You did and are doing great. I've subscribed, can't wait for your labour and delivery story.

The ending was very heartwarming! Your story is amazing and the fact that you didn't give up on yourself and didn't care what others will think. THATS EVEN MORE AMAZING! This is what it means to understand your purpose and destiny. 💕

Thank you for sharing this! I can't imagine how hard it was to talk about this. People see all this success but there IS a process to everything. You're truly an overcomer and a great mother. I hope future young mums are inspired and given hope that everything will be ok.
