Finally, I've been waiting for someone to show me how to take those things off for 2 years... I painted them on the car and I did a really shitty job that took me 2 days... I can do it the proper way now, thanks bro!
Glad I could help! I spent a ton of time trying to find the right way to do it and decided to just figure it out. Figured this video would help quite a few!
Did you ever make the video where you reinstalled the trim after you painted it? Curious to know what size rivets to get and how easily the 2 pieces of weatherstripping you removed goes back in.
Great video, thank you so much, very inspiring. I have to do mine, it's an RS4 but I guess it is more or less the same, I will remove the roof rails too. Do you recomend painting, anodising or powder coat them? Many thanks
@@konstantinmoraglis5300 I sanded them and primed them then sanded again and painted. It’s cheaper to get them painted rather than ordering them already blacked out.
Where is your body shop? I did exactly what u mentioned. Ruined the rubber seal on the glass with a pressure washer. So I got a new quarter glass off ebay. But I'd rather have a body sho0 like yours replace the window for me. Like I said already have the new window with the rubber on it. Just need someone to do the labor.
@@chasingcars2948 thanks for the replies. I need to replace mine because i got the chrome wrapped and the guy doing it cut the seal with his blade. Was it hard to put back in place?
Thank you! B pillar isn’t too bad to remove. Just remove the kick panel with the s5 logo and then pull on lower piece first. You should be able to get them loose enough without taking the seatbelt out. You’ll have plenty of room to run wires and hide them.
For the door trim do you mean the window trim? I did take that off as well and got it all painted. The window trim is also a pain to get off because of how tight the clips are locked in.
To remove the rivets I just grabbed them and pulled them out with pliers. Some won’t come out so you can just hit them with a punch and clear the hole for the new rivets.
Whats the name of that rubber piece you took off after you took the door trim?I have wind noise in my car and I just notice that rubber were the window spouse to seal to when its up its missing!
The window trim for the door around the window is probably the most difficult part surprisingly. I’ve done it 1000s of times on other cars and this one has been the most difficult. There’s clips on the bottom side of that piece so you have to roll the window down and there’s a tool that allows you to get under them and pry them up just enough without breaking them or damaging your glass.
This video is probably the only one in the world on how to do this
Hopefully it helped! I couldn’t find it anywhere so decided to make one. Like and share please!

If you’re going to take them off I recommend painting them. It’s going to look better and last way longer with actual automotive paint as well.
@@chasingcars2948 Thank you, I guess it can be done with an aerosol paint, I was thinking primer it first.

Is it possible to buy a replacement rubber seal that sits inside the trim? The one you pulled out at 5:45sec?
Great question. I’m sure you can although I’m not sure what it is considered. I feel like it is difficult to mess that piece up unless it gets lost.

@@lukaszM46 the chrome is very easy to replace. Especially if you’re buying new chrome and you don’t have to be as careful about bending anything.
Great tutorial, just subscribe. Have you done a B pillar removal? Trying to run a rear dash cam. Thanks

Dude did you make a video on how to take the door trim off?
Also did you end up painting them?

Thank you, good job bro)
What did you do with the rest of the rivet? You drilled out the heads but the rest is left in there. How do you take it out?

That piece is considered the door weather strip I believe.

so what size were the rivots?
I used Aluminum 1/8” diameter rivets with a 1/8” grip. I bought them from Home Depot.
