Yes, I really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing. We’ll be cycling Dieppe to Paris next month, but soft as we are, there’ll be no camping! All small hotels and chambre d’hote. We will also be following your good advice in making each of our days in to easily achievable distances. I am looking forward to the rest of your trip reports.
That sounds amazing! I hope you have a great trip :) Haha, I don't blame you with avoiding camping. It means your bike is a lot lighter from carrying less gear and you can't beat a comfortable bed after a day of cycling!
Great video and music. You’ve wisely learned at a young age that chasing a set mileage each day should only be used as an approximate marker, and adjusting to suit the day is how to do it. It’s all about the journey, the destination is just a byproduct! Cheers 👍
Thank you :) I agree! I use to chase longer distances, but found myself racing there and not appreciating my surroundings. I really enjoyed myself this time as it was a much more relaxing experience :)
Love your attitude. Last September 4 of us cycled from Dieppe to Paris and back using the L’Avenue Verte. W3 stayed in Versaille for 2 nights and cycled into Paris. We found Paris to be VERY cycle-friendly. We were fortunate enough to be able to stay in hotels along the way. Best wishes……….Duncan McLean.
That sounds like a really cool trip! Paris on the whole was really straightforward and had a large number of bike lanes :) Thank you for watching and commenting on video Duncan :)
Although we followed the Hirsch route along the Avenue Verte from Dieppe to Veraille/ Paris we came back using an app called "cyclers".......Very good, worth a look.
Love the video, very inspiring. I would love to copy the route but I struggle with route planning. Would it be possible for you to share your gpx file. Keep safe keep cycling and keep inspiring.
I've heard of people scheduling in non riding days and then taking them as the oportunity arises (of which headwinds can be one) e.g one/two days in seven. Really important to have flexibility and to follow up the interesting stuff en route. Thank you and enjoy. PS Eurovelo routes can be useful.
Thank you for your comment! I agree about having the flexibility. It allowed me to stop and see some really cool locations and as you said, I could alter my plans due to unplannable circumstances. I definitely appreciated it when the temperatures were at 40 degrees Celsius haha! I will look into the Eurovelo routes :) Thank you!
On my longer trip this year I won't have much choice haha! I always resort to campsites as I like to have a shower, but not many of them are going to exist in places like Kazakstan 🤣
Mate I’d love to do a cycle tour round France as I’ve been motorhoming it. It’s just so beautiful and geared up for exploring. My only concern would be loneliness. How did you get with this?
France is amazing for cycling, and I would recommend it to anyone :) Personally, I'm quite introverted and enjoy the solitude at times. However, I never felt short of opportunities to socialise as on a bike you're out in the open and can just stop and talk to people. Also, people will often approach you out of curiosity in camp sites and out in public just because you're cycling. If it's a big concern, then it might be good to try it for a few days. That way, it might not feel so daunting, and you'll hopefully realise it won't be as bad as you think :)
I at least took about 10 different 20 second clips of the day, but sometimes a lot more depending on where I was. My advice is to not take too much footage, as it can be a nightmare when you have to edit the video. (Speaking from experience haha) I'm happy you came back :D thank you again for watching the series and I'm happy you have enjoyed it :)
Really enjoyed first video - well done! Trek 520 ? How are you finding it and what month did you travel. Sorry for all the q’s! Look forward to following your journey.
Thank you! No need to apologise for asking questions. The bike is a Trek 520. Personally I really liked it during this trip, which was the first time I used it on an extended bike tour. Its very comfortable, reliable and sturdy. The only issue was some loose bar tape, which is not bad. I'll do a separate video about the bike soon :) The trip was also a lot of fun, as France is such a pretty country. I travelled during August! So a bit toasty haha. Thank you for commenting and watching the video :)
Hi there. I have taken part in cycling marathon 1500 km in Ukraine. Are you going these days cycle somewhere from UK? If yes, I'd love to ride together.
Hello! That sounds really cool! I'm currently doing an around the world trip and I am in Istanbul. If you are ever nearby along my route or when I'm back, it would be lovely to have some company 😀
@@Geocycling1993 Enjoy your superb trip. It will be great to head out with the company. The weather in the UK I assume is much better than in Istanbul)
@@Geocycling1993 I honestly have no idea I was just jesting, I looked it up on google maps and it does seem pretty secure though, double fence and cameras and all. Cool shot though !
That's understandable, France has many Municipal campsites which can be pretty reasonable. Beyond that, the French are relatively relaxed about wild camping compared to its neighbours. You can also use warm showers, but I have found this to be time consuming and can be unreliable!
Probably a false sense of safety on my part haha. I know theft can be an issue on campsites as well, I guess I prefer the philosophy of out of sight, out of mind.
I think with your music, you should listen to Debussy, Ravel and Satie and perhaps Vivaldi? Because that would be better with most of the landscapes, etc. Influenced by, not copying. Just my opinion.
First time watching you. Nice content but would be nice if you didn’t aim the camera up towards the sky when shooting your face, the backlight makes your face a dark blob. Other than that keep up the good content.
I don't have an Instagram account set up at the moment, however I am planning on setting up an account for the pictures of my future trips. I'll post the link when I make one :) Ah amazing news about your planned trip, the best of luck to you!
Great video! Don't beat yourself up. It's really good. Really enjoyed your content. Keep it up! 💪🚴
Thank you 😀
What a great find thanks to the youtube algorithm. Great job and i’m looking forward to watching the rest of the videos.
Thank you for your comment! I'm happy you enjoyed the videos so far :)

Snap Duncan! We are about to do exactly the same Dieppe to Paris trip, in exactly the way you did it!

I really like the Jean Michelle Jarre style music you have created.

Like your music great and very talented. thanks for sharing. What daw do you use. cheer brian
Thank you Brian :) I use Logic Pro X as a DAW, I've tried others and always preferred Logic, as it has a large selection of instruments.
Wild camping next time? 🙂

Jacob, you're forgetting that the king of france then had the beautiful house and garden, whilst his people were destitute!
I can't exactly remember what I said, haha, but you are correct 🙂 they didn't take very kindly to that little issue!
Casually flying a drone over a secure area (that compound in Sangate ) ^^
Oh no, is it a secure area? I thought it was just something industrial? :O
