I remember at a pride I went to years ago there was a single woman protesting holding up a banner outside a church. After a while people were lining up to kiss in front of her and take happy selfies in front of her banner. She was on the verge of tears. I almost felt bad for her but then remembered that nobody was forcing her to be there, she was stubbornly standing her ground against the very existence of the people in front of her, who weren't even talking to her or insulting her, just pissing her off a bit. It was a strange sight, sad and wholesome at the same time

She's like most other pride protesters, I would define them as religious extremists who think their god is all that matters and anyone who strays away from what they believe is right is a product of Satan and should be shamed or even suffer a worse fate. Look, as someone who used to be apart of the lgbtqia+ community, I don’t think throwing insults is a great way to combat homophobia cause at that point, they are going to associate the community as people full of anger
Obviously no good argument ends with an insult, but these people don't come to converse. Not productively, anyway. It's usually the same old back and forth that does nothing, other than tire everyone involved. You can't reason with a wall. And for the few that do wish for more diverse views, they aren't often seen doing this, so might aswell get a good laugh.

And for me specifically, I don’t enjoy the sexualization of the ace community. Since I am apart of the asexual spectrum, I was confronted with a lot of those within the lgbtqia+ that attempted to “change me” by making uncomfortable advances. And whenever I pass or ignore them, they get angry with me. I love the message about loving yourself and be how you are, I really do, but with what I’ve have experienced and what social media shows based on the algorithm. If anything, my views of the community is just simply grey. I hope you understand, and if you read this, thank you for reading.
Edit: this may come off a bit passive aggressive but I am a bit peeved. “Used to,” is past tense, please don’t twist the meaning. I enjoyed the time when it was all about the love of others and being who you are, no matter who the person is. It’s just the change in the community that have made me leave, that’s all.
