Traveled to Los Angeles for a few days and tried out United Polaris domestic Business Class and compared it to Jet Blue's Mint. Here is my review of the food and flight.

Been watching on and off for awhile I tore my achilles heel a month ago and was bed bond for a bit and started watching again so I want to say thanks for all the great videos I’m a retired chef and foodie and your videos always make me smile to see someone’s genuine love of food you give the best reviews 😎
i've flown Polaris class, twice, round trip to japan. if you pair it with the lounge there's no way you wont absolutely love it!! (except during covid) and i can confirm the sundae cart is awesome. I've always wanted to try Mint too....I may just do it to do it lol
I flew that flight last December, Tokyo to LAX to visit family and the food was terrible. Business class but economy food, I inquired about it and the FA told me it was because of Covid. Thank goodness, I filled up at the lounge before my flight.

@@Mandamonster89 oh its wonderful! so they give you a little glass chalice with a scoop of vanilla. they have all the toppings, hot fudge, caramel, strawberry goo lol nut sprinkles cherries, oh my! lol but it also has other little dessert bites offered on the cart. like little fruit tarts, mini chocolate cakes, lemon squares...things like that all maybe 1-2 bites in size.
they also have a basket full of mini baileys and Jamesons to make irish coffees lol

Enjoyed this review, Going on my first Polaris flight in 2 weeks (IAH-SFO-TPE) so was searching up some reviews. I then browsed your other videos, looks like I might now be hooked, although it will take me a while to get through them. Need to start with the several you have for Taiwan.

The food anywhere in Santa Barbara is amazing! I grew up in SB, and live in Arkansas now…. I am always dreaming of SB food. My husband gets annoyed with me cause I’m always comparing Arkansas food with Santa Barbara food. It’s literally paradise.

I stopped by Mex Peru Gypsy today and it was really good! I like the pesto pasta dish more than the lomo saltado, but both were good. I told them about your channel as well and they said they had no idea that someone posted about them! I told them to check you out.

Next time you are in L.A., you need to try El Cholo. My mom went there as a kid. . It's been serving people since 1923. She and my dad started taking us kids there as well. She is now in her 80's Really good Mexican food!

I actually just flew in Polaris yesterday, same exact meals and everything, from Chicago to SFO. We didn't get headphones, but I also ordered the chicken and it was pretty tender. maybe the chefs in Chicago are a little better that LA lol

I have family that is Peruvian and can make those dishes that everyone can only eat at restaurants. But yes there cuisine is out of this world

You were flying United Domestic First Class not Polaris. The level of service and food is equal to a standard domestic first class flight. Polaris is offered for select California to east coast routes domestically and international flights only.
another thing to mention about united polaris is that storage compartment, it;s a treasure trove for the staff after each landing cuz people forget they put stuff there like crazy

Hi Mike! The United flight you flow was an a plane equipped with the Polaris product, but the service including the food ,lounge access, and other amenities were not Polaris business, which is branded for international flights and transcontinental flights.
It took me a moment to understand what you meant. Basically, the flight offers Polaris service, but Mike didn’t get the Polaris option, if I understand right
@@miscl_anon pretty much United has planes equipped with the Polaris business class seats, but they only brand it as Polaris business class on certain routes. This was not one of those routes. It was just branded as regular domestic first class but happened to be on a plane equipped with the Polaris seats. There’s more to the Polaris service than the seats, including amenity kits, exclusive Polaris lounge access, and special food, none of which Mike got on this flight.

Hard to compare a transcon flight on JetBlue with a regular domestic flight on United. Should've compared transcon with transcon, you get far more amenities on those flights than on LAX-ORD.

So that's a Polaris seat (which are great) sold as domestic first. I've taken a few international Polaris flights over the last month, if United could figure out how to serve some good food it would be an automatic choice. Sadly, they can't, out of 8 meals, 1 was great some type of beef stew type thing (that's how the FA described it), 1 was okay, chicken curry with noodles and 2 were down right terrible, chicken breast with potatoes and chicken breast with veggies. Looking over on flyer talk it looks like generally there seems to be the same feelings.
i can confirm you get the same food from LA to NY on united polaris. except you get two pillows, blanket and toiletry bag. jet blue wins this

So is there a difference between chili oil and hot oil? I’ve tried both from local Asian markets and to be honest they’re kinda more sweet than spicy like maybe 2500 scoville? Needs to be over 25,000 to be past mildly spicy
I think I liked Jetblue's Mint compared to UA business class. I flew business with UA from EWR to LAX and I didn't like it in terms of the food and service. They did give us two pillows and a blanket.
