    I think it’s hilarious that this old 80s kit gets water slides but new mg don’t. Blows my mind.

      They do(not counting Ver Kas) but you gotta buy them separately like DLCs

    • @mefpazur
      @mefpazur Год назад +2

      That's because the modern kits are snap-fit and the selling point is that you can get away with just having nippers and no prior model-building experience (including putting on water slide decals) to put these together. That said I'd love to have proper decals included as well, especially that Bandai doesn't even make separate water decals for some kits. I was really surprised when I had to order 3rd party ones for RG Z'Gok & Zaku II...

    I love the slightly wonky proportions of the old kits. There’s a certain charm about it. And the overall process reminds me of using old balsa wood airplane plans - you feel like you’re building a piece of history! Rather than making something ultra realistic or anime-accurate, you can just enjoy the kit for the kit itself. And that’s pretty cool 👍

    The Ground Gelgoog has a Gatling gun in one arm and a grenade launcher in one (it also has a backpack) the Jaeger has beam spot guns and the marines have machine guns, the OG Gelgoogs, those things on the arms I think are generators of some kind. Anyway I think making them guns would be cool, plus with the backpack you have a pseudo ground goog!

      Cool i'll watch with interest as I enjoy your customisations (gives me ideas for my 1/144 kits) , the old ways were tryinly cumbersome but could yield great results at least these days you won't have to deal with stringy glue ,razor blades,thick enamel lead paint and rough sandpaper or worse rattlecan primers and no respirators/masks like back in the old days if we could get them or be bothered 🙆some of us even survived those toxic elements

    Since this isn't a commander unit, you should make one arm have a beam emitter and one a vent. Sort of lean into the idea that it's a unit that sees more combat than the average grunt but they don't have the resources for a full-on commander's overhaul.

    For a moment I thought you had the rifle w/o stock confused with the rifle of the MS-06$-3S which does look very similar and is likely a prototype just without a stock. Checking again, Uma Lightning's custom Gelgoog did have a modified beam rifle w/o a stock. It also had a thicker barrel assembly and an underbarrel grenade launcher. I think those mods were post-OYW.

    The beam emitter idea is nice. The Gelgoog didn't have any integrated weapons and was defenseless if disarmed. So you could add the beam emitter or make it a mini missile launcher to imply that its an upgraded model. Sort of like the head vulcans on the Gundam.

    Even many new Gunpla have the same issue with gun stock restricting articulation. Funniest part is - mobile suit doesn't need stock. With some rare exceptions you don't see it actually using the stock all that much.
    In this particular case it looks like it's a telescopic stock. You could either add a hinge to convert it to foldable one. Or get rid of it entirely. I did the same with my HGUC Zaku F2. I cut away the stock of MMP-78 machine gun leaving only short stump (making it look something like this qph.fs.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-2f02106ee53a07cfbe9ca82f05c0a861.webp ).
