As a child of emotionally abusive parents, Eleven NOT forgiving Brenner wasn't cold Millie, it was powerful. An abuser who never accepts accountability does not deserve your absolution.
i agree completely! what he did was definitely abuse, even if there were warm or paternal feelings mixed in there as well (and i know first hand how complicated those feelings can be). she made a powerful, positive decision which i personality wish i could make because it’s not easy. eleven would’ve had to be incredibly strong to do that and i see it as 100% a good thing
As a psychologist specializing in child abuse, forgiveness is now always the ideal resolution for the child or grown adult. You, as a child, do not “owe” your parents anything. They chose to have you. Sometimes boundaries and a healthy life apart from the parent is the best for the child. Sometimes the most empowering thing as a child who your parents never chose you or put first, is to chose you and put you first. Love yourself in the way you wish your parents would have: with unconditional love, hope for your future and unyielding grace even towards the parts of ourselves that we deem unloveable.
It's not even about forgiveness. His last words were lies and he told her to repeat something to him that would've also been a lie. "Tell me you understand." But she didn't because she doesn't. He doesn't control her anymore.

Validating someone else's delusions with a fake acceptance of a fake apology (if you are even one of the lucky ones whose parents even acknowledge their gaslighting and manipulation and attempt to say sorry) is counter-productive and toxic to society. Sorry, but validating an abuser's delusions and "forgiving" them is just giving them what they want and giving them further control. I can still move on with my life, find fulfillment, find my found family, and find happiness without forgiving them.

Her point of view on eleven and saying that she is cold for not forgiving papa, was interesting. I didn’t see it that way at all. I saw it as her not allowing him to manipulate and abuse her anymore. The victim doesn’t need to forgive the abuser. I saw it as her taking her power back for herself
I saw the same. The fact that she doesn’t give him what he wants, to say she understands is a big moment and shows how her relationships with Hopper/Joyce etc showed her that her relationship with papa was more a Stockholm syndrome, and this was her way of fully realising she’d escaped that
yes her even saying goodbye and walking over to him is perfect bc sometimes u have love for your abusers but that last choice of not forgiving him was for her
It's probably harder for her to see it that way because she developed such an amicable relationship with the actor who played Papa, and most of the time you're engaging on set will be with those people as their real life selves. The actual stranger things films are a small part of her overall experience whereas they're all of ours as viewers.

she had a very interesting perception of that relationship, for example saying that he hadn’t been cruel… that surprised me. Or that Eleven’s lack of forgiveness was coldness and lack of compassion. She seems to really understand Papa‘s motives. Which is fascinating because she portrayed the complete opposite incredibly well.

Modine and millie’s relationship is absolutely precious. You can tell he’s so proud and amazed by her. It’s clear he remembers when she was just a wee little girl acting opposite him and now she is such a strong talent and beautiful young woman. It’s so sweet to see him tear up a bit over the whole thing.

Sadie and Joseph were definitely the stars this season. Caleb’s performance was great as always too.
Gaten was also amazing in this season. Those emotional scenes with Eddie and his uncle were powerful. Their friendship was my favorite part of this season

Sadie sink deserves an award for her outstanding performance. The Dear Billy episode was insane, i felt mixed emotions in that scene where she's escaping in that mind lair, i was so scared, emotional, and pressured. Also, max's scene with lucas. I haven't cry that much in a show in my entire life. i cried my eyes out definitely. She deserves an award her perdormance this season was INCREDIBLE

Sadie did really well but there have been much better performances. I don’t want to be rude but you’re probably like 15 or something and you just watch what’s popular. (No shade though it’s fine and most people do). There are many other incredible performances this year that deserve it much more then Sadie. Again I think she was really good, but you should watch more stuff if you think she deserves an award over anyone else this year. A lot of shows much smaller then stranger things have had better performances with maybe the expectation being Jamie Campbell Bower (who was easily the standout acting wise for me) who is right up there with Antony Starr for bets performance of the year.

Joe Quinn has to be the breakout star of this season, only because we've already seen sadie do some great work. Eddie is so unlike Joe, so it's awesome to see an actor transform like that

Yes!! That was my favorite part of the video. Just seeing how much he genuinely cares about the show, his character, and Millie. He did a great job as Papa and episode 8 was one of my favorites of the season. I love how they gave Papa such an epic death scene.
I want to know what Caleb and Sadie say about their scenes in episode 9. They both made my heart wrench so badly! I need more of them.

I feel that El’s last conversation with Papa was so powerful. Personally, as an abuse victim, I was really pleased to see a scene when a dying person isn’t granted anything just because they are dying. I do think that in her time (or possibly already) El will forgive Papa but just because you forgive someone doesn’t mean you have to understand why they did what they did. I don’t believe that El and Papa’s relationship was healthy in the slightest and I do think that it’s her relationship with Hopper that is more important to her development as a person. I feel that Papa just saw her as a vessel for these powers, that she was just another number - but because of One she was the only number he had left. Hopper saw her as a daughter and as a person, he taught her how to be a real person in the real world and how to live life without him one day - which is the real task of a parent.

i feel like this should be a wake-up call on Hollywood as a whole, that things should be finished entirely in the writing department before anything else starts rolling because I feel like this season was the most well-written and flawless performance I have seen in this show. It was because they had more time to prep than they usually do. please next season does what you did this season and have more time on writing and storyboarding before jumping into shooting because the final season is typically the season that people remember and if you do what Game of thrones did or dexter or loss it's going to be disappointing.

Poor Joseph wanted to be in season 5 so bad I feel sorry for him. In another interview he said he thought if he worked hard enough then they wouldn’t kill him off but it didn’t work. I feel like the Eddie death was so predictable it made me so angry. It would’ve been more unexpected to go for a main cast member. Eddie was more interesting than some of the other characters anyway
Also he could’ve brought something flammable to the upside down like hairspray and a lighter just to buy him a few minutes before they light vecna on fire overall poorly executed/written death IMO loved most of this season though

I hope Joseph knows that he did an amazing job, it’s incredible how a new character could get all this immediate love and care, and it was all thanks to his flawless acting, and what makes it even better is knowing that he also did improvisation in some parts that are some of the best moments. He understood Eddie completely. So sad that he left too soon, he had so much potential so it’s a shame that his story ended that way, I also think that it could’ve been handled better but oh well.. I hope Eddie is back in season 5 at least in some type of flashbacks like Dacre, and I’m also really excited to see the new projects Joseph will be in!!!
coudn't agree more! after everything I've read and heard, I feel like all that made Eddie so incredibly lovable and relatable for so many people came from JQ actually understanding the character better than the people who wrote him. I really hope they write him back in; he was such a breath of fresh air for the whole show.

I agree so much on this. His death was such a waste and also so bad compared to how good the character was throughout the season, the huge place he took in the viewers’s hearts. I was really disappointed to see him die in such a useless and stupid way, we have the scene with Dustin and him die then there’s a time jump and everyone seems to have forgotten about him and act like he never existed, except at the moment when Dustin talks to his uncle, but before that he seemed almost joyful. I really don’t understand how botched his end was and I’m so sad we won’t be able to see more of the huge potential of Joseph as Eddie…

I would love if Netflix would start posting actual behind scenes footage and commentary content like DVDs and Blu-ray use to have on to Netflix. I can guarantee that the Making of Stranger Things, BTS footage, commentary, and bloopers would also generate millions of hours of veiws on Netflix with popular shows like Stranger Things.
Watch party's with the cast and fans would also be dope. Kind of like this video but with full episodes and reactions from the cast.
They did one time, they had commentary tracks for House of Cards, but they didn't do it after that. They don't even have those anymore as Sony owns them.
I wish they had continued with beyond stranger things. I really enjoyed the insights the cast gave for each episode.
When millie said "oh well he deserved it" I busted out laughing all the actors are so funny!
The minute Finn mentioned "the end of the show" about 29:00 I instantly thought "damn, this is gonna feel to me like Harry Potter felt back in the day" and than he mentions Harry Potter, I was like "OHHH! Yah, buddy! We're on the same page!", and it's kinda strange because Harry Potter was a part of my childhood and my teenager years. Now I'm full grown up, halfway through college, and this is my show. Guess we, the fans, all kinda feel connected to this magnificent show in such an special emotional way - a way which is rare, and you don't feel it anywhere, just in those special universes of fantasy that are really that great.

@@qtip463 I assume you're talking about the guitar he mentioned in some interviews that he bought to practice during the lockdown after he was asked by the Duffers if he knew how to play guitar. If that's the case, that guitar (the one he bought) is probably a different one than the one we saw on the show.

Gaten's response to the Eddie question is so unbelievably intelligent. Really shows that he has gotten to know his character and all the nuances he has with the other characters super well. Really respectable and admirable.
Matthew Modine made me cry with his death like nothing else did in this show, and I didn't even feel sympathy for him. But man, what a transformative performance
This season had such good acting, especially Sadie Sink. The casting for this show is on point!

Dr. Brenner WAS cruel. Who in their right mind would put shock collars on literal children? He literally kidnapped kids and treated them like machines that would do his bidding. He had no qualms about electroshocking El's mom. And, if the 'Suspicious Minds' novel is considered canon, he pulled strings to make sure El's real father got sent to Vietnam. He is a cruel man who only cared about fulfilling his objective. He never truly cared about El or the other kids. And I'm glad El recognized that when he was still trying to manipulate her even at the end of his life.
Exactly hes literally El's abuser what the hell. I loved that Eleven and Max didn't forgave their abusers and just let them go. (Brenner and Billy) without them being justified at all. That's perfectly done. Millie come on.

I was extremely emotional when Max had admitted her feelings towards Billy and even if she did miss him her real guilt was the fact that she wanted him dead at some point, that scene felt so real and genuine because of the relationship they had with eachother. It would be a miracle if Max came back to normal but seeing the way her limbs twisted and how she went blind it would seem so unrealistic no matter how heartbroken we'd all be if she died, it's definitely going to be a plot hole that they need to think about
Idk ive seen people come out of worst car accidents for example lead normal lives. I dont think thats what they’re gonna give us but i dont think it’s unrealistic. And tbh i do want her to live
@@jesselox3470 Given the circumstances, if she did live realistically she would be disabled in some way, she died for 2 minutes and came back which is enough for the brain to kill off the oxygen completely, however they mentioned in the video that her being in a coma has a very important role so the chances of her dying is less likely, if she does die I hope they execute it in the way they did it when she was with Lucas so we can actually feel it

(Idk if you watched money heist but what they did to nairobi was foul) so if she is gonna pass i would’ve rather they did it in the s4 finale like they had planned. @@jesselox3470 true, but in the 80's? Medicine is constantly evolving, but I don't think a small town with limited healthcare in the middle of a crisis as big as the Upside Down can save her.
I would like that more people talk about that scene, how Max felt about billi's death, her depression, but they only complain about her resurrection and want to Eddy back, I love him. But God! Max sacrificed for her friends.
I actually loved Papa's death scene. We can see how Eleven is both hurting so much because she's losing Papa (someone that, yeah, she has grown to love because he raised her and cared for her for so long) but also she's remembering all of the abuse that he put her through, especially minutes ago when they fight and he drugs her and puts the collar on her. I think El was so hurt by his final actions that she was unable to forgive him. My god, like she was willing to kill him to finally free herself from him.
Also, I don't think El understood what he meant by always doing everything to protect her since obviously he was also looking for Henry and using her for her power, plus killing mama and all. I think the Duffers got it right by ending it that way. It's pretty unforgivable what Papa did. However, I do think that Eleven will come to terms with their relationship in s5.
I personally felt like Eleven related to Max's struggle when she talks about not doing anything to save Billy because she didn't know if he deserved to be saved. I think El did the same thing as Max. Stood there as he died because she couldn't let go of the feeling that he was a bad person and she was better off without him.
Plus, I think Mathew is wrong about the incident with the cat as we can see that he punishes Eleven for refusing to hurt it. He was not a good person, but I do believe that he did love Eleven in a weird and twisted way, and she loved him back.
“Kill” mama? She was merely put into a coma. And she killed a literal police officer, she could have had the death penalty if it weren’t Brenner deciding to let her live with her sister instead.

You know how Billy was keep coming back to max this season, so Eddie will come back to Dustin next season which is vecna wearing Eddie’s form and haunting Dustin cause he fees guilty about Eddie’s death!!

In D&D canon, Kas is a vampire and Vecna’s top lieutenant. He wielded the Sword of Kas, a sentient black longsword that convinced Kas to betray Vecna in an attempt to usurp his power. Their explosive battle led to Vecna losing his eye and hand. In the Hellfire Club’s D&D campaign from Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 1, “The Cult of Vecna,” these details match up. The D&D group is at a meeting of cultists when this happens:
“There is one you do not recognize, his skin shriveled, desiccated - and something else,” Eddie narrates as Dungeon Master. “He is not only missing his left arm... but his left eye!” Everyone at the table freaks out, having thought Vecna was dead. “He was killed by Kas!” Mike shrieks in disbelief.
If this theory is correct, then that’s some excellent foreshadowing.
THE EVIDENCE - For the record, we don’t actually get a close look at Eddie’s wounds. He just goes slack in Dustin’s arms, we cut to Lucas and Max as the sad music plays, and then we jump ahead two days.
This already creates some plot holes: Dustin, Steve, Nancy, and Robin were all still in the Upside Down when the action wrapped up. How did Dustin make it back to the real world with his busted ankle? What exactly happened to Eddie’s body

if they really did a foreshadowing.. it really is a great foreshadowing and think about it mate, they didn't show us what happened to Eddie's body just like what they did to hopper and now look, hopper indeed did survive that big ass explosion! and bruh Y'all can't tell us to stop this nonsense (as others describe)now because maaaaan this brothers love to hurt us.. and my mother even said one time that you can't trust director's/producer's and writers strategy because to make their movie a great hit they'll create an impact and mess with their viewers emotion to get a reaction because man we all know the duffer brothers are a good creators man and be aware that they literally can mess with our minds and emotions anytime they want and if they get the reaction they want, they literally can just bring him back in a snap mate.. this bijjes lie too mate..
I don’t think it’s coldness from Eleven. I think it’s more of a resolve to not see more in their relationship than what is actually there. “Oh but he doesn’t mean it.” “He really does love me…in his way.” She’s not giving him the option to sugarcoat his abuse. That it wasn’t more complex than that, despite what either chose to think or fool themselves into thinking. The minute she has her powers back at 100%, suddenly she shouldn’t go. She needs to stay with him. He had her under his control again and his abusive nature wouldn’t allow for her to be a full person with the right to stay or go.

@@lucan_nn I really wish they do, tho! they have everything they could ever need to make that happen since Kas (the vampire character we are talking about) becomes a vampire after being bitten by bats (Eddie has a tattoo with bats, also), has an armor, a sword and a shield (Eddie has an homemade sword and shield in the scene where he "dies") and he has the duty to protects vecna, but kills him instead (which could be the end of season 5!!).
Now, I know I am in denial and all but this fits wayyy too well
That would make his sacrifice and death completely useless and diminish his writing overall

Ikr!! In the show he really cared and loved her but he wasn’t like showing all that emotions like how hopper does!! When it comes to 11, Hopper is more like( let’s hide your powers stay safe and blend in like act normal like us to stay safe. If people find out you have powers you might be in danger yk. So he welcomed her created family and loved her and expresses his emotions like hugging, kissing, and telling her he loves her you know!!) But papa is more like (you have powers you’re different from others and you need to stop being soft like you need to learn how to control how to use so you can protect yourself and the people you love!! You need to be ready for whatever comes to harm you!! Let’s get to work and not waste time!!). So yea papa always loved her and wanted her to be safe and strong but he’s little bit to harsh with it and not expressing his feelings seemed he was the “bad guy” 😅
Watching Finn's reactions to his own performance, you can see, he's watching it from a fan's perspective... They all were emotional. Regardless of everything that transpired from problems behind the scenes, the pandemic that halted filming, they all care about the characters they play, and how much they put into it. Shows how truly talented they are.
Gotta applaud Sadie’s commitment to her role! I can’t believe she really broke all her limbs just for that one scene!!!

Whenever a guy asks for a date, just immediately smt really bad happens to one of them. Like in season 3 hop asked joyce for a date, and he gets taken by Russians and they don’t meet until season 4. Whereas this season Lucas asks max out on a date and max gets clinically killed by vecna.
So beware: A date night in stranger things can turn out for the worse 🚨

How is no one talking about Mathew Modine and how sweet he is with Millie, I almost cried it was so cute
i feel like mille has a connection with the man who plays brenner and bc of that and because he shows sympathy towards brenner and is justifying the things he did to eleven, she does too. i wouldn’t usually disagree with an actor expressing their characters deeper feelings bc they obviously have this connection with their character if they’re playing them.
but saying eleven craves the connection she had with brenner vs hopper was weird. eleven was afraid of and ran from brenner, and she referred to hopper as her dad. when she saw brenner again after all these years she ran, when hopper came back she broke down crying. she said hopper protected her, took care of her, gave her love and support, which are things you get from your dad, then said they had a “friendship” ?
and it’s weird that she would call elevens reaction to his death cold. brenner wasn’t even apologizing to her, he was trying to justify his actions and have her say he was right, he had his reasons for why he did what he did, and eleven didn’t give him a pass. i don’t think her as a twelve year old left to learn how to be an independent woman?
i feel like millie was answering to be sensitive towards him bc he got upset when they brought up hopper, which is weird that he doesn’t seem to separate them from their characters …

The Duffer's final statement at end about everyone being where they were in season 1 makes me think they time travel back to day Will taken, but Will never returns. Whether it is the cause or the effect of destroying the upside down is still in question. Remember the upside down is stuck in time on that day and Vecna states time is just an arbitrary rule made up in the world.

I thought everyone brought the A game with acting in this season especially, but for me one of the best performances in season 4 was Lucas, and it was the scene in the attic where Lucas was watching over Max while she lured Vecna into his meditative state. The fight between Lucas and Jason was stressful and satisfying at the same time. It was performed and filmed so perfectly, even the sound was on point. From the moment that Lucas can see Max hovering in the air as Jason is choking him against the wall up until the moment he's holding her in his arms as she's dying, my husband and I were just soaked in tears. I had been waiting all season to see more of Lucas, and the wait was really worth it. I really look forward to seeing more of him in season 5, but I'd also love to see him take on more rolls in other interesting projects in the near future. All the kids are great though. It really seems like the stars aligned for Stranger Thing's when they set the cast.

Eddie became my favorite so fast. Being a nerdy metalhead myself, just latched onto him quickly. And Ride The Lightning by Metallica was my first album I ever owned, so him playing Metallica just put a big smile on my face.
I loved absolutely Eddie! I was a cheerleader so I loved his scene with Chrissy. I was always jealous of the kids who were playing dnd in school 🤭 but I was afraid to ask if they could explain it to me.

Theory: I think Will is connected to Vecna and it's similar to Harry Potters and Voldemorts situation. In Harry Potter, Harry is a horcruxe for Voldemort, which is basically i thing that keeps Voldemort from dying. This results to Harry being to able to see and feel every emotion that Voldemort feels, just like Will and Vecna. Will will have to sacrifice himself in order to offiicially kill Vecna, just as Harry did.

I have watched so many interviews with directors, producers, and actors and it’s like everyone involved in this show is so relatable and just give realistic answers. I am a bit disappointed in Millie and modine’s read of the 11 brenner relationship. I interpreted it as a man putting his own professional ambition over the well-being of the kids under his charge. He doesn’t want the best for them he wants to create a powerful tool, at the expense of the safety of anyone else. A total selfish lack of care that shouldn’t be forgiven, I thought the show got it right.
