I grew up surfing at Oceanside CA as a kid then moved away from the beach for college - 10 years w no surf. Moved to NewportBeach 12 years ago for work. Wife and two boys and still no interest in surfing until just 5 months ago after coming across This is Livin vlogs. Started getting fired up again - began daily surf workouts, new diet including açaí bowls & occasional Sidecar donut 😉 now surfing two sessions a day from Lowers, NP jetties, to HB. Taking my eldest son w me for at least three sesh a week who transitioned from skateboarding to surfing and loves it!

It doesn't matter how much I can climb or how great the route -- it just feels good to be having fun in my element again.

I’m heading to my local surf shop tomorrow to pick up a stand up paddle board. I haven’t surfed since high school. I can’t wait. It will probably take me the rest of summer here in Australia to get my balance but I am hoping to get a couple of small waves 🌊. I have a bodyboard which I love but since watching you on the stand up paddle board I wanted to get back into stand up surfing. And everyone here in the comments and how much everyone loves the water.
Not gonna lie, I think the doctor who told you to paddle board meant to do it like most people (like tourists probably). Not to go out and shred relatively big waves on it 😂
Also, you should make a sunrise shack in south FL, it would absolutely kill. You must hate money if you don't.

@4:42 what you want to focus on doing for neck relief in your case, similar to shane dorian's condition is (what your p.t. and chiro aren't telling you) is behind the back alternating s-grips. also instead of just standing overhead push-press, you need to do steady sets of horizontal push-press with lighter weight. also lmk if you still need any help editing or coaching intern. may be heading to honolulu or the big island this season to hang with family!
