"I wrote and recorded "The Dragon Song" back in 1998. It was the first song I created for my "Fantasy Metal Project." To record it, I used the Roland VS-1680 16-track hard disc recorder, which was a significant improvement from the 4-track and 8-track C-cassette tape machines I had been using before. I think it might have been the first song I recorded using the 16-track. I had been dreaming about the VS-1680 for months, reading all about it in music magazines and imagining the possibilities of what I could record with it. It was a dream come true when I finally got it. It immediately upgraded my production quality and was much faster and easier to use than the old tape machines. I could now explore more with guitar harmonies and add more synths and vocal tracks, and it also had some nice built-in effects. Not only did it upgrade the production quality, but it also allowed me to dream bigger and eventually helped me write the debut Wintersun album. "The Dragon Song" is still a demo, but it's one of my favorite compositions, so I created a little demo video for it. I hope you enjoy listening to the song!" - Jari

Melodic death metal precisely!
A comeback? They have just worked on some songs for many many years and just didn't get it done. It's 7 years since the 'Forest Seasons' and it wasn't that great.
Since then Wintersun made fans pay lots of money with different sell-out ways. Wintersun's music and Jari's songwriting and composing are great. But this is no comeback. This is just a way to create the most possible money out of very less output.
I am really looking forward for new music like this, but the magic around Wintersun has slowed down a lot the last years.

@@kimmorintamaki4422as much as I love cob and Alexi, Jari is a much better and accurate player. Alexi got insanely sloppy after the first 3 albums due to his addictions. Alexi is still my favorite but Jari is much faster and cleaner

Most of them I am sure are still around. I supported both crowdfundings, even If I was too growing dissatisfied lately with the lack of apparent progress from Jari. When the package is good and you see the work involved, it's hard not to appreciate (and buy it).

It‘s obvious that most of the people are still around given that the demography of Wintersun fans won‘t be in their 70s or 80s and are definitely younger. But still the comment is especially paying respect to those who have already passed sadly. Which are definitely a few people given that thousands of people have participated in both campaigns.

I always tell people that the reason why I'm a Wintersun fan, is because of Jari's ability to tell stories with music.
Like there are bands which you like to listen to because they are heavy, or because of complexity. But Jari's music is the type of music where you just close your eyes and let your imagination go.
The level of visual landscapes this guy can create with music is just impressive.

I discovered Wintersun while I was playing the Skyrim for the first time back in 2014. This song is a huge throwback to good ol' school days for me. I guess it's time to head back to Tamriel now 😁😁. Thank you Jari! Keep it going!

I can't stand the ai. It's antithetical to what wintersun represents - rushed automated visuals on top of careful human artistry. Really taints my enjoyment of the fantastic song, would've loved for it to be over a commissioned art piece - say, one for each "songs of jari" album. Would cost what, 1000 tops? jari could do his cool visual effects that he used to do over art pieces, falling rain/leaves and such. Damn.
@@clinch4402 I have to agree. AI can be utilized well, but here it felt (*somewhat) pointless/overdone and was too obviously AI. A few even just static but well made images are often more valuable than basically any amount of animated mediocre stuff (that can look straight creepy, not in the good way).
Of course I don't want to dismiss the work Jari put into it. Generating usable "footage" with correct prompts and lots of tries is a lot of work.
And I understand the decision to make it part of the marketing campaign. Somehow had to grab the attention of people not necessarily familiar with the band.
At least as he said (iirc) an actual artist (Gyula Havancsák) worked on some other, more "official" materials (wallpapers, etc. I guess).

I get why he does it but it's not necessary and I agree, the music of Wintersun is WAY too good to settle for anything less than the best human made art. AI is bottom of the barrell lazy short cut content and Wintersun is the complete opposite.
@@JKGaming1414 I wonder what happened to Kristian Wåhlin who did the first alum art, for me he was a match made in heaven for Wintersun. Kristian is like the Jari of album covers! Yeah I suppose maybe it's useful for marketing (I'm not in a non fan's shoes so I'm biased), especially for people who can't afford illustrators. Not my thing, but I can respect the hustle.
