This is such a delicate balance and takes patience and the ability to inform the parent of expectations while also helping the parent understand and make meaningful changes. The family case manager does a good job of guiding mom towards actions without conveying that she is judgmental. The last thing you want is for a family just to shut down and feel judged.

I think this session was very helpful, it shows good communication skills from the social worker.

Im assuming your no longer a student, 7 years since this comment! and I seriously hope you didnt become a social worker, especially because of the 'name' your using ! Chosen by you ?! wtf

Funny I was a social worker before completing studies, even a teacher for a number of years! Now no longer working due to medical condition... Guess your next response would be along like liar and bet you dont have a family? Well was married had three children, became solo parent, raised children on my own. Many years later I'm a grandfather of four!! Funny how people judge because of a name
      Funny that...

@@Chownz . . . Not funny even once let alone the 3 times you say so... nor is your choice of assumed identity appropriate to be commenting on child protection video! Seems your human care, respect, and positive reguard got lost along the way .. Perhaps your motive was to incite and have waited these 7 years out waiting....and watching far too many weird anime cartoons.......and im sure you fit the Toad name too

@@miakiedis2 you seem to have a problem? Are you triggered by names that are purely fantasy in nature and not related to reality! You dint know me nor know how my work ethics are so different from my private life, it are you so hung up because I use a handle if a anime character? Did something happen to you as a child, hence you're so adamant that I'm some pedophile!! Boy! You have some issues if you associate people's handles to reality. Or maybe you have issues around children, whatever it is get some help because labeling people you've never met is dangerous. And keep it up and I'll have to report your behavior. FYI have you ever worked with children? Ir do you have children or your own! Either way you have some deep seated issues around children, as it clearly shows in your replies. Get help cause venting here doesn't work....

I agree that this is good communication skills from the social worker, but there are parents who are very lazy and I understand tired, but this is a health issue, as well as this child, will have problems in the long wrong if nothing is done. Mom needs to learn a lot about boundaries etc.

I need clarification please: At around 26:01, the social worker asked Grace who she considers is in her immediate circle, and Grace says "my grandma", but when the social worker says, is your mom involved, she says yes, but then asks again if the grandmother is involved, Grace then says no? So is the grandmother involved or no?

    • @joyclay7904

This is ok, but the mother is SO chilled out and accepting about being reported to social services and having her parenting picked apart that I wonder how much valium/heroin she took. Plus she keeps saying she's tired and yet looks anything but. Can you repeat the interview with more variety of mothers' response? What would this interview look like with a borderline personality disorder mother?

Welcome to the real world of parenting, social, kids are awkward as hell, parents are often tired. Just loved how you picked this woman's parenting ability apart and created problems out of nothing. Typical social worker. 🙄

Domestic disputes, 4 year old regression to infancy, mom has no boundaries with 4 year old - supporting an overwhelmed mother helping her to find solutions before things get worse. Sometimes people get referred to social services for things that are risky and it's best to provide some support and surround them with resources before it gets out of hand. If she is tired with one, then imagine what having a newborn and a child that doesn't want to let go of the bottle.
