What happened in Lex's 1500m race is my biggest fear in track races. Not the getting spiked part, but just being boxed in when you want to kick. You see everybody else going around you, and you have so much energy, but you're stuck. There's nothing you can do about it... Being boxed in during a race has to be one of the worst things that can happen during a race.
This almost happened to me in my 800 was in the like 6th place I had to literally jump over to the next lane and catch back up thankfully it was earlier o n
My first 800 I was boxed in at the end of the first lap. I had so much energy that when I got out I had to be in the 2 and 3rd lane in order to pass people for the next 200m. My next race I didn’t get boxed in and I got a 5-10 second PR
Picking apart a race is essential. It better prepares us as competitors. This has been another great reveal.
I can’t wait to see you guys improving big time in races for the future 🏃♂️

thats a tough one, because there are so many ways to run, I really believe its important to run how you feel most natural, but use things like stretching and strengthening outside of running to make sure your muscles are working properly.

Can I ask what your average heart rate is for your easy runs? I know easy runs go off of feel but my past few had quite a high HR even tho I wasn’t going too hard
we try not to worry to much about hr, but usually I expect to average anywhere from 130s to 160s

These guys are in high school and is there a reason why they are skipping out on CIF and races like Arcadia? Or are they afraid to lose again on the national high school scene like in cross country.
They aren’t able to race Arcadia or CIF due to Cali state rules but they’re going to nationals and Brooks PR😹🫵🏻
@@carolinewall3678 they should finish out their high school year with CIF like all the others before them. High schoolers from California running in CIF California and Arcadia has been the tradition and staple for California high school runners for many many years. They have the rest of their careers to race for other clubs. Just my opinion.

@@Tr1Dylan Yep. It wasn't a big deal. It was like "ok, is Nico in shape to win Nationals." Good to see that kind of mature response, he was probably worried how it would be taken but it was nothing.
The big thing is how the twins are going to survive Ricardo next year. He is an excellent coach that demands excellence from his athletes.
