I love your demos! They help out a lot. Between yours and Norm's assurances I'm starting to accept that it's okay if I forget a rule in the middle of it.
Oh wow yes! We can't ever let the massive amount of rules be a deterent to playing. It can be intimidating to run GURPS for fear of "getting something wrong" for sure but the system is so basic at its core it makes rulings on the fly easy. Just go with your gut and keep rolling and have fun! .... and in my experiences it's not that fun playing with people who are overly concerned with getting every ruling correct anyhow.
Thank you for doing these videos, the past couple days I've actually been looking for more gunplay. I will be running a post-apocalyptic stalker style game so this is much obliged.
A couple of notes on how certain rules work: (not trying to be negative, just thought these might help others) For the shotgun damage, you dont multiply the damage by 9, the rate of fire of 3x9 means that when firing, each shot fired counts as 9 for calculating rate of fire (see page 409 for details), so in the case of this combat it means firing all 3 rounds counts as a RoF of 27 (+5 to hit), so our shotgunner needed a 13 to hit, he rolled a 7 so he beat it by 6, the shotgun has a recoil of 1, so that is 6 hits, the pistoleer fails his dodge, so the pistoleer takes 6 x 1d6+1 damage hits (note each counts as a seperate hit in cases where the pistoleer has armor, so if he had a leather jacket giving a DR of 1, then each damage would subtract 1). For range and speed modifiers to hit they are calculated together, so a bad guy 23 yards away who moved 6 perpendicular to you would be effectively 29 yards worth of speed and range -7 to hit. When prone it takes 2 actions to get back to standing position, the first gets you back to kneeling the second gets you to standing. So while dodge and drop does give a +3 to dodge which is pretty good, it does leave you vulnerable. Finally, when covering an area, you only get an aim bonus when covering a 1 hex (1 yard) area, so our sniper would not have had his aim bonus. He also would have needed an extra turn to aim at the gunner as he ran away or fire with no aim bonus. Again as always, people shouldn't get caught up on all the rules during play, fun and speed is much more important, this is just for clarity of the tutorial.
I agree that those are all excellent points for clarification, it's easy to miss a rule here and there in GURPS. I certainly agree that keeping things moving is more important than perfect rules execution but GURPS fans are always do pedantic they ruin the fun for new comers and intimidate them out of playing. Thank you for being so chill about my mangling of the rules on the fly. I had fun lol.
So easy to visualize the action in my minds eye as I listen to you describe the game mechanics of GURPS gun play.
Cheers!
Thank you so much, they are fun to do and I love sharing these little action scenarios to hopefully inspire others to jump.

Wow that's great good luck with your game!
The constant refresh of the map is very annoying. I wouldn't be able to live with it!
yeah it's terrible. Was experimenting with a different setup that day and it did NOT work out. Back to old method
@@easygurps you could download the video and run it in VLC, or better yet Foundry VTT.

Thanks for watching!
Dang it. The Tube of Yous is not sending me notifications of your videos. 😢
Guess I have some catching up to do.
Keep up the strong work.
Thank you! Same has been happening to me.
