    Hey nice video! But I have one question: Wouldnt it be better to reach the IAF ULDOT with the published 185 knots instead of rushing the plane down to 3000 with 250 knots and level off about 1 mile before ULDOT? When u reach 185 knots you will have passed ULDOT already by a few miles. I know its not a big of a deal but wouldnt it be better to adjust the VS manually so your Level Off Point matches almost your further descent point? So if you set the VS to around -900 and your speed to 185 about 10 miles before ULDOT (14:04) you would cross ULDOT at around 185-195 knots and you would still level off below your VNAV path to continue descent.

    If the mcdu changes automatically to approach phase, it means you still need to activate the APR on the autopilot or it will be automatically actibated also?

    • @bgsancho
      @bgsancho 17 дней назад

      Approach MODE on the autopilot panel has to always be activated by you. If it's ILS approach always activate the approach MODE and Both autopilots.
      As soon as you see G/S * you have to preselect the go around altitude. Good luck

    Sir, Dubai has runway elevation of 60 feet.. How would calculate your TOD for places having high elevation like 3000 feet and above.. Request you to kindly upload the same.. Thanks !!

      I came up with a brilliant idea! Maybe you could try subtracting the Landing Elevation from the Flight Level.
      For Example: We need to descend soon. We have FL380. Arrival Airport is Abha (OEAB) Has Elevation 7000 feet. Solution: 38-7=31. 31*3+15=108. So as we can see our T/D will be at a distance of 108 NM.
      What do you think about my way how to calculate a T/D with high landing elevation airports? Correct me if I'm not right.

      In your flight plan, enter your ILS approach and enter your Baro from the Ils charts.

    Can you please show a video on how to change the destination airport in case of emergency as the new airport is not save in F-PLN nor SEC Flight.

    Really helpful, thank you! If the flight plan takes you all over the place can you use the track miles on the bottom of the flight plan page (DIST) to apply your calculation aswell?

    • @waypointsaviation
      @waypointsaviation  7 месяцев назад +1

      If you are going to fly those track miles, then yes - use the same calculation. otherwise use the most likely track miles.

    Hello!
    This question may not be directly related to the video but I just wanted to know what does it mean to "Activate the approach phase" in the MCDU? What does the aircraft do when the approach phase is activated apart from slowing down to green-dot speed?
    Also, can we get a video going in depth in to the speed-tape on the PFD of an Airbus?

    • @waypointsaviation
      @waypointsaviation  7 месяцев назад +1

      The main purpose of activating the approach phase and manage the speed (among other things - might need a separate video) is to slow the aircraft to the best L/D speed for the configuration at that time (Green Dot, S - speed, F - Speed).
      Furthermore, your request is noted, we will look into it

    Before entering to the glide slope, you must by full flaps and landing speed?

    • @Petercrossed
      @Petercrossed 6 дней назад +1

      No at GS set flaps 1, at 2,000 ft flaps 2 gear down, flaps 3 at appropriate speed, should see that on speed indicator, then flaps 4.
