What I find great about Ichigo's power is that he doesn't really get stronger per se. Rather his full strength is being held back and released piece by piece throughout the series. Ichigo's situation is like Zaraki's situation. They both have in truth tremendous powers but it is unknowningyl, subconsciously suppressed because it would kill them.
It's very smart how Ichigo's shinigami power, which is derived from his inner hollow mirrors the classes of hollows the more powerful he gets the smaller and faster he gets, the same as the vaste Lorde hollow are significantly smaller and faster than menos
When Ichigo accepts Tensa Zangetsus blade I think thats the moment that the part of Yhwach inside him decides to stop hindering him. Granted, he is still using a zanpakto thats not really his but Dangai Ichigo is the full expression of his Soul Reaper powers from his father. Like maxing out that one stat and using none of his Hollow, Fullbring or Quincy power. It's pure Soul Reaper expressed to transcendence. I understand that his Hollow and Soul Reaper powers are combined but thats why the combination of Zangetsu and White solidifies that idea based on the dialog. In order to be able to do the Mugetsu, Yhwach pushed the Hollow attached to his soul back allowing the ultimate expression of his pure Soul Reaper form. (with fake zanpakto)
I never thought about how the hollow mask never appeared after he learned full bring. But if you think about it that I think is where his hollow mask wet instead of on his body interesting idea. Probably's right but what do I know.
Kubo will probably re write the bankia encounter ive said kubo was given a set amount of pages to finish the manga in a rush and as such couldnt finish it properly. As with the squad zero fights he has a chance to correct the mistake he was forced into. We i am sure will be treated to a long action packed fight and i dont think it will get broken either.just a guess but i did guess right about the squad zero fight. As a passionate artist has been given a second chance and you bet hes gonna take full advantage. After this i also guess bleach will continue with the hell arc. I just hope with the success of this arc they will green light more movies and arcs.
the marks represent control and not really mostly ichigo controlling the power but the power itself remmember its half hallow and half soulreaper when one gets weaker the other gets stronger and we all know hollows are the most dominate thig in bleach
Love how it took: ichigo getting a false bankai, ichigo mastering his hollow powers, ichigo losing his shinigami powers, ichigo becoming a fullbringer, ichigo becoming a shinigami again AND learning that hes a quincy JUST TO LEARN HIS SHIKAI AND BANKAI
I'm surprised nobody mentions Ichigo's Vasto Lorde form's greatest ability. It essentially gives him a 1-up. Ichigo was flat out dead after Ulquiorra sent a Cero through his chest, completely destroying his heart. After Ulquiorra slices off its horn, the mask shatters completely and Ichigo is returned to a stone dead state. He's ghost white with completely blank eyes; a very typical way of drawing death in manga. However he's still in hollow form as he still has the long hair, white skin and black markings on his body until the hollow, possibly involuntarily, activates one final parting gift to literally resurrect Ichigo by not only healing the wound in his chest through instant regeneration, but completely regenerating his heart, a vital organ. This is a miracle that even Ulquiorra cannot achieve, despite the fact that his most advanced ability is indeed regeneration of body parts. Even Ulquiorra cannot regenerate vital organs. This begs the questions; If Ichigo ever dies, will his hollow take over and go full berserker mode again, and once the hollow is defeated can it simply resurrect Ichigo each time? Regarding the Horn of Salvation. I honestly see that as no different to Ichigo's early masks that covered just some of his face. I think he's still only tapping into a fraction of his hollow powers and when he finally unlocks their full potential he'll pull the complete Vasto Lorde mask over his face, just like White was wearing in his inner world. "I warned you. The only way you could really control me was to stay alive." Fitting, seeing as the only time we've seen Vasto Lorde is after Ichigo dies, but while he's still very much alive he's now only just starting to use a fraction of the form.
It's not much different than Ichigo having his heart dissolved when he went through the hollow training. Ulquiorra had felt Ichigo's reiatsu was higher than before that training.

Red is the color of life: his mask’s markings being red is him clinging/fighting for life. When it becomes black: it’s all colors/feelings being taken in at once. He’s no longer clinging/fighting for life… he’s searching for understanding.

Thought I'd share my own take on Ichigo's True Bankai: The Power to Overcome Fate. After activation, his reiatsu begins to slowly grow, as it circles in an infinite loop through Tensa Zangetsu's connected chain and blade, increasing as Ichigo continues to fight his opponent. As he continues to clash against a stronger opponent (cause I don't see him using his Bankai against a foe weaker than him), his reiatsu will increase to a point where the opponent's reiatsu can no longer affect him, similar to how Soi Fon's Shikai couldn't kill Aizen due to the reiatsu level difference in the Fake Karakura Town Arc. He gradually becomes a juggernaut or incarnation of "strength/power" (the thing he's always wanted and strived for to protect his loved ones) as his reiatsu continuously grows to "overcome" his opponent or the "fate" of possibly losing against his opponent. As a byproduct, this also increases the strength of his Getsuga Tenshous, pushing them to Mugetsu levels at their high point. Now a weakness for this is if his opponent is able to shatter the chain and outer shell of Tensa Zangetsu, the infinite loop will be cut off. But as a consequence, they'll have to deal with a sort of failsafe: a final strike from his unsheathed Bankai, which is being boosted by the collected reiatsu from the re-absorbed outer shell and chain that act as a final booster before Ichigo's Bankai ends. This final strike cannot be blocked or negated, cutting through any possible fate that would prevent it from cleaving Ichigo's opponent. After that, Ichigo's blade will have to stay in its unsheathed Bankai/Alternate Shikai state for some time to recharge before it returns to its dual-bladed Shikai state (unless he chooses to keep it in its unsheathed Bankai/Alternate Shikai state), to which he can then activate his Bankai once more. I think this keeps in line with Zangetsu being a power-type Zanpakuto, albeit a unique one.
The only issue I have is the whole alternate shikai having to recharge kubo confirmed that Ichigo can actively switch between the two shikais as he desires otherwise great theory I love the fate based bankai theories
I, however, have a different look to this power. Yhwach comments that his almighty (which can alter all possible futures) is like an extended version of ichigo's powers, and says that ichigo can push through his fated defeat in a "single" future. Now, it is indeed a power of his bankai, but it's also a power that ichigo actively doesn't have access to. Reason for this (at least to me) is because of his unrealised/unawakened schrift that exists within ichigo due to yhwach's blood flowing within him. Just like how royd-loyd brothers and hashwalth were able to unknowingly utilise their schrifts powers even before awakening them, ichigo has been unknowingly using its effects, but since he never awakened it (by drinking yhwach's blood) he can't actively use it like other sternritters can.
Ichigo’s hollow form is intelligent. He was clearly attacking from blind spots and even threw a giant block from high as a detraction before attacking from low. He just seems to have been unwilling or unable to talk. My head canon is that Ichio’s inner hollow’s dominate emotion is anger. It would also explain the red stripes on his mask until he losses control and becomes depressed and they turn black.
I like this theory. It corresponds to Ichigo's despair. His despair is his power, which can overtake a person. It probably represents the despair of all those dead shinigami and possibly his mother's fear of being consumed by a Hollow.
You should check out the manga. Hollow Ichigo actually throws the arm he ripped off and not a block, very hollow like, then the hollow attacks a Quincy. This is why I must disagree with the intelligence statement. Hollow/Vasto Lordes Ichigo is just an apex predator, hence the complete domination and attack IQ
@@axl124 I read the manga as it was released, and Kubo said the extended fight from the Hell movie is how he want the fight because of time constraints on the manga. Also, “attack IQ” is intelligence applied to fighting.

Wrong though. Mugetsu is a shinigami technique that puts the user at the level of the soul king. It's a shinigami technique because Getsuga Tenshou is originally Isshin Chiba's technique, who happens to be a shinigami and Ichigo's dad.
Ichigo's shinnigami powers and inner hollow are the same thing. Tensa zangetsu is his Quincy powers. That's why they merged to make the hollowfied tensa zangetsu form when Ichigo came to learn the final getsuga tensho. White appearing as a hollow is simply the shinnigami powers of his father suppressing the hollow attempting to overtake his mother and the they merged. Which is the same way you put it in your follow up video about mugetsu as opposed to the first dangi Ichigo video

Mu is a fairly key idea in buddhism, and zen buddhism. it's not just their to make "moonless sky", it's really something along the lines of "empty sky". the concept of Mu is a near primal pure state of awareness. and this really sells the kind of transcendence Ichigo has made to an eastern audience.
Remember that white is not your average hollow spirit, but fusion of many shinagmi spirits combined and hollowfied by aizen, so mabe the marks resent the shinagmi power being released
It's found out later in the story during TYBW arc that "White" ,Ichigo's inner hollow , was made in a similar way to an Asauchi. Molding and folding shinigami souls create Asauchi which shinigami pour their soul/power into them and imprint them to become Zanpakuto. Generally you'd need one made by Oetsu Nimaiya who invented them , but Ichigo was never given one. His Hollow was created by Aizen presumably by killing shinigami for experiments and made a hollow pretty much exactly like an Asauchi is made. Ichigo's inner hollow originally came from his mother who was undergoing hollowification after "White" attacked her and implanted his soul in her. "White" is Ichigo's true sword spirit , hence why he states he is Zangetsu .. because he is. Ichigo was just uninformed and ignorant to his past and kind of dense when figuring this out. I believe Vasto Lorde form came out because "White" saw Ichigo get almost killed and got pissed beyond belief and roared out of Ichigo to protect him and kill Ulq. Other sword spirits have clearly demonstrated the ability to care for and display other emotions towards their wielders. I'd argue that as "White" grew beyond basically an proto-Arrancar level he gained more and more emotions and awareness.
What makes Ichigo great is that with his epic hybrid powers and despite the sometimes sinister side to them, he uses them to save the lives of others while asking for nothing in return. Then he humbly returns home to the human world to live out a normal life until the next crisis let's him go all out and save others. Anyone else with such power would've gone absolutely mad and used it for evil pursuits, be it to dominate as a tyrant or change the worlds even if billions have to die.
My theory is Ichigo is the reincarnation of the Soul King, having each of Bleach’s forms of the soul in harmony with one another therefore being able to transcend the limitations of each. Ichibei states that the Soul King was a transcendent being, above all other beings in the original iteration of the universe, and unlike every other character both use that power selflessly to protect, incorruptible and morally pure.
@@conleybaker3864 Indeed. Remember the Spirit King was helping everyone and especially humans, who are scorned as 'weak' by everyone else. The selflessness for the weak/defenseless is a strong trait while the lack of elitism is a Shiba trait.
I love that Ichigo isn’t stupid, he isn’t boneheaded, he learns from mistakes and makes sure they don’t repeat. Ichigo academically is miles above Goku, Luffy, Naruto. And I love he isn’t stupid and isn’t portrayed to be stupid. It’s definitely a breath of fresh with anime when a vast of main characters are written to be stupid.

14:00-ish and on: at this point would Ichigo not be wielding basically a Quincy weapon or Reishi weapon of some sort? Since we know Zangetsu now lied and that wasn't his Shinigami powers but his Quincy powers holding back and leaking his Shinigami powers, and mainly that Ichigo doesn't have a real Zanpakuto yet. Wouldn't that mean that his "Zanpakuto" Zangetsu could only be a spirit weapon made of Reishi like the Quincy, with Shinigami powers puddled into it? Like, even his pre-false Shikai broken sealed sword wasn't an Asauchi, Shinigami powers making it work like a Zanpakuto but instead of being an "abnormal Zanpakuto" should that not mean it's flat out NOT a Zanpakuto at all but a Quincy weapon powered by a Zanpakuto spirit? Unstable because it has no real solid Zanpakuto form but a Quincy Spirit Weapon powered by a Hollow-fueled Zanpakuto spirit?
True bankai Ichigo had his sword canceled in the future, retconned in the past, got repaired by rolling back the reality of its incurred damage and ended up cleaving Bach with the shikai version as if to troll him. I m guessing the bankai has some mix of or relation to, a sysadmin, a bastard operator from hell and a teen reddit moderator. True Bullshit.
2:00:47 it would be so cool if Ichigo's base/sealed blade will be shown and it takes the form of his false Bankai form. This will go back full circle on Byakuya's comments about Ichigo's "Bankai".
It's so nice to find someone who actually appreciates Fullbringer Arc as much as me... honestly it was awesome, and both Ichigo's Shikai and Bankai from this arc are amazing (peak design in my most honest opinion). I wonder how powerful would Ichigo be if he got his Fullbring full power fused with his shinigami form...
I can't believe that people still refer to Ichigo's zangpakuto spirit as hallow Ichigo. Hallow Ichigo is Zangetsu. The old man is a representation of his Quincy power.
One thing I've been thinking about is Ichigos quincy powers way back in the beginning. Two things come to mind. Ichigo stealing all of Rukias spirit energy instead of just half, similar to how Quincies control reiatsu, right? And second when Ichigo charged up Uryu when they fought the menos, even Uryu thought it was weird because shinigami don't typically spread reiatsu around they just contain it within themselves and their zanpakto or user it for hado. Both of these could be explained by Ichigos massive potential for spirit energy. In the case of Rukia he might have just acted like a vaccuum ready to fill his empty vessel. In Uryus case he did mention that Ichigos reiatsu was spilling out constantly so that might be the end of the story but i thought it was an interesting thought that he was subconsciously bending reiatsu like a quincy.

I did not realize the initial hollow mask showed up w/ 2 large stripes in the manga, but first showed in the anime w/ 3 red stripes. That’s actually crazy. But I love the deep analyses of the show and it always gives me more reason to enjoy my re-reading of Bleach (about to enter peak PEAK fiction with SS Arc)
Imagine that this scene happens exactly the same as the manga when the show gets to that point. Then suddenly ichigos holo form appears next to him and is like . "I got this." Smash-cut to a huge fight between old hologied ichigo for like 4 epolidodes then it cuts back to what yuach saw thus he broke it before he could get his ass kicked.
It's just my head cannon but I always like to refer to the Vasto Lorde's cero as cero inferno. Mainly because it's so strong it sets a blaze the sands of Hueco Mundo. As well as even though the hell verse movie isn't cannon his cero sets hell on fire and a massive blazing inferno in the living world. Just my head cannon tho I think that would be neat.
'Vasto lorde' Ichigo is actually White in his bankai form or a resurrecion form , that's Tensa Zangestu. just like how Old Man Quincy change appearance in Tensa zangestu form.

When Ichigo went to his inner world to learn final getsuga, old man zangestu told us that that's the same thing that fought ulquiorra and it was White behind the mask.

My personal theory about the hollow mask is that the number of red markings on it correlate to how durable it could be; as he gets stronger, we notice that the mask itself can withstand more damage. Obviously nothing exponential, but definitely enough to where it could make the difference between victory and defeat
yes but youre half right its durablity and a timer remember icgigo cant fully control his power they make it look like hes control they power thhrough the mask but look at it like hollow ichigo is giving him small portions that his body and mind can handle thats why after a while they turned black because the hollow side of his powers was growing too fast remember his hollow powers is half soulreaper and hollow red is the soul reaper markings and the black are they hollow its supposed to be ballanced just look at the marks on his face of his full bankai at the end of the mangai

@@AJ-kt5zo That's my issue Haschwald could never form an arrow or a bow to begin with Yhwach described him as "other half" because of being able to nurture others (Bazz in his case) but not performing ability of his own Yet he is not exactly like Yhwach since he could create reshi swords ect. Also his relationship with Bazz, Yhwach and how he lashed his piling up emotions from those relations onto Uryuu at the end of the series How by Yhwach he felt validated for the first time in his life yet at the end clinged to the hilt of his sword with Bazz's emblem engraved on it, the same sword he used to kill him Also how Haschwald's schrift was "B" and Bazz's was "H" There is so much to unfold with his character
I mean it kind of makes sense the Ichigo stays in a single blade form because that’s what the form that he’s used to using. He’s been using it since day one so that makes sense that’s his form he’s most comfortable with.
The fullbring arc was full of forced meaning and an excuse to continue the story and give iIhigo his power back. I loved the TYBW but fullbring arc was trash, they had a perfect ending when Ichigo watched Rukia disappear before his eyes. The way the show started it could of ended.
"He went into the future to destroy his sword so that Ichigo could not use it in the present" is the stupidest fucking plot point known to man, because that's literally just not how time works. If I break a vase now, that vase doesn't get broken a year ago. It's astonishing to me how people are able to say that with a straight face and not immediately realize how much of a narrative hack Kubo is. But I suppose it's not surprising given the fact that this is a 2 hour video comprising of, "then Ichigo gets a new form, which increases his speed and power", and yet the things that he actually does, like instantly moving from spot to spot and shooting large lasers, literally never change.

Basically his hollow mask slowly began to break out of that barrier his quincy side put it. He no longer needed the mask as that mask was a temporary door. Instead of opening it he kicks it down.
I remember years ago a friend said the red stripes made them think of the Japanese Flag. The Red symbolizing the Sun and that japan is affectionately called "The Land of the Rising Sun" ... so to them (my friend) "Source of the Sun" so to speak. So it's stuck with me that Ichigo was in fact waking up (Sun Rise)... What we believed to be the "bad" element of his internal conflict [ie: the Hollow/ification process and what we finally see in TYBW where he accepts his trichotomy nature] Ichigo was in fact "waking up" even way back then, and we simply took it as "Oh no Bad Hollow Infection making Ichigo do evil things"
Ichigo is the only character in Bleach that has become or awakened abilities from all the races mentioned apart from the Bount . That makes him the only 6 dimensional character in the series.(This was stated to be non-canon material which only appears in the anime) 1-Shinigami (or Soul Reaper) 2-Hollow / Vizored 3-Full Bringer 4-Quincy 5-Zanpakutou/Soul Slayer and finally the reason i think he had or has an edge over all the opponents who crossed his path - 6-Human All the other enemies barring Quincies and Fullbringers were dead and resided either in Soul Society or Hueco Mundo which we know are spirit realms. Quincies, while being alive do not have the ability to cross into SS and HM without some sort of conversion to enable them to be able to exist and interact in either of the aforementioned - Ichigo did! Fullbringers were a menace in the real world with a ... Mutation, if you will - who were able to manipulate the spirit aspect of an object and was a remnant of, or influenced by Hollow abilities. When he became Getsuga he was essentially a Soul Slayer/Zanpakutou and was able exist and function in this form when he fired off Mugetsu. Thus I say even Aizen while being transcended was 5 dimensional as he had been in soul form when we made his acquaintance. Thus Ichigo is literally a whole dimension more than all the foes he faced off with and also the reason he was the ideal candidate for assuming the role of the Soul King when the currently reigning monarch was met with his demise. This is only my observation of the Bleach series so please feel free to challenge as i'd appreciate other perspectives where mine is lacking.😉
Dude I knew most of this through speculation and from reading the manga religiously but somehow you still pointed out quite a bit i overlooked so cheers. Honestly i know this is a comprehensive compilation but as a whole beginning to end I have to admit that this is absolutely one of my absolute favorite videos Ive ever found, you did an absolutely amazing job here and I just wanted to say thank you for all the hard work you put into this and all the other fantastic content you create. Since the effects of fullbrings fade after the user dies does that mean if Tsukishima dies again now that he is in the soul society and his soul moves on doesn’t that mean the future he made where ichigo’s zanpakuto wasn’t broken disappears and makes ichigo zanpakuto broken again 🤔?

I just thought of something about the tenshintai: the piece of his spirit that Ichigo needed to find and rely on to beat OMZ was himself, the piece made for fighting. He needed to pour himself into the asauchi just like he later does at the forge in the royal palace. Once he stopped depending on the sword entirely and relied only on the part of himself made for fighting, he could beat OMZ. That part of himself was the resolve to protect at all costs. Just a theory...
This might be a stretch but what I think is a good idea is that in the anime they show how ichigo's power works through one of Ywhach's future visions so it doesn't leave the mystery of Ichigo's bankai up in the air
The problem I'm stuck on is what Kubo said about a zanpakuto and its scabbard. The last Hell chapter we got shows Ichigo holding the original shikai zangetsu form. So, is Ichigo in bankai form here??? If this is just his shikai, then what the heck does his bankai look like? I mean, the last arc just had the bankai turn out to be his old shikai with a white scabbard coated over it. The last chapter would mean that his shikai and bankai are essentially the same and don't change form now.
I wish Ichigo's Quincy powers were showed off a bit more. We got the fusion of a Cero and a Getsuga, would have been cool to see the fusion of a quincy arrow or something with his getsuga or cero. Something like Ginrei Kojaku with small Ceros backing them up might have been cool? Just throwing thoughts out off the top of my head. It was cool seeing his forms come together but the final fight felt so rushed that we barely got a chance to see what he could do.
but what i loved about the hollow is that to keep living he fused with ichigos zanpacto and kept on protecting ichigo knowing that if one of them dies the other will too its all about protecting his master lol just watch every time ichigo is about to get killed what happens they guy pops out and lay waste to verything close to ichigo
The explanation of the Final Getsuga Tensho has me wondering. Getsuga is the ability to condense spiritual power into the tip of the blade and fire it off as an attack, so what if Final Getsuga Ichigo never used Mugetsu? I will accept maybe even if the transformation was a power boost, he still needed to use it all at once to stop Aizen, but would he be able to ACTUALLY fight in that form and retain his power? he wouldnt lose his shinigami power if he never fired it off, right, Or is it more like Letzt Stil as stated that the power boost is so overwhelming it burns out the users spiritual power even when not used to its fullest, despite the two techniques being fundamentally different?
For his Horn of Salvation form, you mentioned that he obtains this form by disrupting his raishi to force out his hollow powers. If his balance works anything like a scale, then what would happen if the scale tipped in the other direction
Well, we can only assume the balance would favor the Old Man, which would allow Ichigo to use Quincy abilities like Reishi Manipulation and Blut both defense and offense.
So my theory is the number of stripes on the mask represent the percentage of its power that he is able to call upon and the thickness of the stripes is his control over that power, the change after his fight with Ulquiorra shows that white has retaken control hence why he couldn't hollowfy against Aizen since white knew that if Ichigo engaged with Aizen in that moment he would die
Ichigo's bankai has always felt more like a Shikai. Zaraki and Ichigo both have a "half-release". The dual wielding + sheathing ability is his real bankai. Or maybe his bankai was only a half release bankai, as why it only has the black sword?
The crazy part is the true bankai isn't even it's full potential we only saw Ichigo use it for the very first time and everybody knows how training a bankai goes so seeing Ichigo is it in the hell arc is very exciting
Hear me out. What if the dual blades are just ichigo's Zanpakto form and not a shikai. As we know Zanpakto tend to be annoyed when not used properly. So what if when ichigo says bankai Zangestsu only gives him a shikai?
Hey, I just thought of something! In one of the very first panels of Bleach, Rukia is silhouetted by the moon. The moon is icy cold--like Rukia's bankai. We know it was Aizen who sent her there. He knew her shikai, and her relationship with the Shiba family. What if, somehow unconsciously, Aizen sent her there so she could ultimately assist in the birth of a being who could surpass him? He allowed Masaki to live, and give birth to Ichigo, after all. And I got a feeling Aizen was proud of Ichigo. I think he was going to tell Ichigo that Aizen, himself, was Ichigo's pimp daddy--before Isshin stopped him.
The fact that people don’t know the whole story and some things haven’t been revealed about the details at the time things happen - those are what makes people make the wrong assumption that ichigo’s fight wins are “ass-pulls”
Pretty sure that's how everyone felt but seeing how his hollow and soul reaper powers are the same I'd say his resurrection is pretty much a form of his bankai it's confusing I also love horn of salvation I wonder if he trained with it would he get a second horn? Such a great design
@Rush patriot I feel like maybe the one horn is only because he's balancing the powers together. For example, if he wanted more hollow power and less of his others, he could bring out more of it.
On the contrary, rather than it being a resurrecion, it's more like a berserk/uncontrolled bankai release (similar to zaraki's bankai). In Both cases, the zanpakto spirit has broken the master-servant/king-horse relationship between the shinigami and zanpakto spirit and both take on a demonic presence. Since at this point, zangetsu is his only zanpakto spirit (OMZ wasn't a part of his zanpakto spirit at this point in the story).
I believe the markings on Ichigo's Hollow Mask are not his control of his Hollow side, but his Hollow evolving. His Hollow form during his training with the Vizards looks very similar to an Adjucas. The thickening of the marks during the Las Noches fights up to his fight with Ulquiorra show that his Adjucas Hollow is growing in power, with it culminating to his Vasto Lorde transformation, which means the peak Hollow form, which means again the full maturing of Ichigo's Hollow side, since it does not change after it.
A few points: I think vasto lorde Ichigo is as you said just instinct but can tell friend from foe and as a hollow he immediately attacks uryu perhaps even because the hollow/shinigami powers were being held back by ichigos inner Quincy he instinctively attacks Uryu as well As for Dangai/Mugetsu I think this is perhaps when his inner Ywach stops holding back his shinigami powers temporarily as he accepts Ichigos decisions and he finds balance between his shinigami and Quincy powers without knowing what his quincy side truly is however still rejecting his inner hollow and of course no fullbring so just his shinigami + Quincy without any constraints which is why it goes to his Shiba clan technique and a quincy mixture/shadow look mixed with a shihaksho
42:29 my headcannon was that the number, size and color of the stripes dictated how much of the hollow power he could use/bring out. Also that after fighting aizen he never used his hollow mask because when he learned the final getsuga tensho his hollow and soul reaper powers completely fused so he is always able to use the strength of his inner hollow.
I think after Aizen he never had to use it anymore not cause they fused, but because the fullbring markings on his neck, chest, hands etc basically replaced the hollow mask and acted as it.

What I find great about Ichigo's power is that he doesn't really get stronger per se. Rather his full strength is being held back and released piece by piece throughout the series. Ichigo's situation is like Zaraki's situation. They both have in truth tremendous powers but it is unknowningyl, subconsciously suppressed because it would kill them.

When Ichigo accepts Tensa Zangetsus blade I think thats the moment that the part of Yhwach inside him decides to stop hindering him. Granted, he is still using a zanpakto thats not really his but Dangai Ichigo is the full expression of his Soul Reaper powers from his father. Like maxing out that one stat and using none of his Hollow, Fullbring or Quincy power. It's pure Soul Reaper expressed to transcendence. I understand that his Hollow and Soul Reaper powers are combined but thats why the combination of Zangetsu and White solidifies that idea based on the dialog. In order to be able to do the Mugetsu, Yhwach pushed the Hollow attached to his soul back allowing the ultimate expression of his pure Soul Reaper form. (with fake zanpakto)
I never thought about how the hollow mask never appeared after he learned full bring. But if you think about it that I think is where his hollow mask wet instead of on his body interesting idea. Probably's right but what do I know.
Kubo will probably re write the bankia encounter ive said kubo was given a set amount of pages to finish the manga in a rush and as such couldnt finish it properly. As with the squad zero fights he has a chance to correct the mistake he was forced into. We i am sure will be treated to a long action packed fight and i dont think it will get broken either.just a guess but i did guess right about the squad zero fight. As a passionate artist has been given a second chance and you bet hes gonna take full advantage. After this i also guess bleach will continue with the hell arc. I just hope with the success of this arc they will green light more movies and arcs.

I'm surprised nobody mentions Ichigo's Vasto Lorde form's greatest ability. It essentially gives him a 1-up.
Ichigo was flat out dead after Ulquiorra sent a Cero through his chest, completely destroying his heart. After Ulquiorra slices off its horn, the mask shatters completely and Ichigo is returned to a stone dead state. He's ghost white with completely blank eyes; a very typical way of drawing death in manga. However he's still in hollow form as he still has the long hair, white skin and black markings on his body until the hollow, possibly involuntarily, activates one final parting gift to literally resurrect Ichigo by not only healing the wound in his chest through instant regeneration, but completely regenerating his heart, a vital organ. This is a miracle that even Ulquiorra cannot achieve, despite the fact that his most advanced ability is indeed regeneration of body parts. Even Ulquiorra cannot regenerate vital organs.
This begs the questions; If Ichigo ever dies, will his hollow take over and go full berserker mode again, and once the hollow is defeated can it simply resurrect Ichigo each time?
Regarding the Horn of Salvation. I honestly see that as no different to Ichigo's early masks that covered just some of his face. I think he's still only tapping into a fraction of his hollow powers and when he finally unlocks their full potential he'll pull the complete Vasto Lorde mask over his face, just like White was wearing in his inner world. "I warned you. The only way you could really control me was to stay alive." Fitting, seeing as the only time we've seen Vasto Lorde is after Ichigo dies, but while he's still very much alive he's now only just starting to use a fraction of the form.
It's not much different than Ichigo having his heart dissolved when he went through the hollow training. Ulquiorra had felt Ichigo's reiatsu was higher than before that training.

Part 9 - I don't think it's a stretch. If I recall it was never explained why all of her power was absorbed other than "Of course it was! He's the MC!" Which was good enough for my tiny brain because it came with a banger of a sound track. I think it might be fair to say Kubo didn't exactly know the details then, but he knew the origins of Icigho from inception.

Thought I'd share my own take on Ichigo's True Bankai: The Power to Overcome Fate.
After activation, his reiatsu begins to slowly grow, as it circles in an infinite loop through Tensa Zangetsu's connected chain and blade, increasing as Ichigo continues to fight his opponent.
As he continues to clash against a stronger opponent (cause I don't see him using his Bankai against a foe weaker than him), his reiatsu will increase to a point where the opponent's reiatsu can no longer affect him, similar to how Soi Fon's Shikai couldn't kill Aizen due to the reiatsu level difference in the Fake Karakura Town Arc.
He gradually becomes a juggernaut or incarnation of "strength/power" (the thing he's always wanted and strived for to protect his loved ones) as his reiatsu continuously grows to "overcome" his opponent or the "fate" of possibly losing against his opponent. As a byproduct, this also increases the strength of his Getsuga Tenshous, pushing them to Mugetsu levels at their high point.
Now a weakness for this is if his opponent is able to shatter the chain and outer shell of Tensa Zangetsu, the infinite loop will be cut off. But as a consequence, they'll have to deal with a sort of failsafe: a final strike from his unsheathed Bankai, which is being boosted by the collected reiatsu from the re-absorbed outer shell and chain that act as a final booster before Ichigo's Bankai ends.
This final strike cannot be blocked or negated, cutting through any possible fate that would prevent it from cleaving Ichigo's opponent. After that, Ichigo's blade will have to stay in its unsheathed Bankai/Alternate Shikai state for some time to recharge before it returns to its dual-bladed Shikai state (unless he chooses to keep it in its unsheathed Bankai/Alternate Shikai state), to which he can then activate his Bankai once more.
I think this keeps in line with Zangetsu being a power-type Zanpakuto, albeit a unique one.

The only issue I have is the whole alternate shikai having to recharge kubo confirmed that Ichigo can actively switch between the two shikais as he desires otherwise great theory I love the fate based bankai theories

I, however, have a different look to this power. Yhwach comments that his almighty (which can alter all possible futures) is like an extended version of ichigo's powers, and says that ichigo can push through his fated defeat in a "single" future. Now, it is indeed a power of his bankai, but it's also a power that ichigo actively doesn't have access to. Reason for this (at least to me) is because of his unrealised/unawakened schrift that exists within ichigo due to yhwach's blood flowing within him. Just like how royd-loyd brothers and hashwalth were able to unknowingly utilise their schrifts powers even before awakening them, ichigo has been unknowingly using its effects, but since he never awakened it (by drinking yhwach's blood) he can't actively use it like other sternritters can.

Ichigo’s hollow form is intelligent. He was clearly attacking from blind spots and even threw a giant block from high as a detraction before attacking from low. He just seems to have been unwilling or unable to talk. My head canon is that Ichio’s inner hollow’s dominate emotion is anger. It would also explain the red stripes on his mask until he losses control and becomes depressed and they turn black.
I like this theory. It corresponds to Ichigo's despair. His despair is his power, which can overtake a person. It probably represents the despair of all those dead shinigami and possibly his mother's fear of being consumed by a Hollow.
You should check out the manga. Hollow Ichigo actually throws the arm he ripped off and not a block, very hollow like, then the hollow attacks a Quincy. This is why I must disagree with the intelligence statement. Hollow/Vasto Lordes Ichigo is just an apex predator, hence the complete domination and attack IQ

Ichigo’s hallow form is a fugue state. In the fugue state he’s consumed by anger at Ulquiorra. In that state, I’m surprised Ichigo didn’t do more than stab Uryu.

Wrong though. Mugetsu is a shinigami technique that puts the user at the level of the soul king. It's a shinigami technique because Getsuga Tenshou is originally Isshin Chiba's technique, who happens to be a shinigami and Ichigo's dad.
Still the whole Gestuga technique works a lot like a qunicy arrow, he absorbs reshi and fires it of, just like quincy use their arrows

Ichigo's shinnigami powers and inner hollow are the same thing. Tensa zangetsu is his Quincy powers. That's why they merged to make the hollowfied tensa zangetsu form when Ichigo came to learn the final getsuga tensho. White appearing as a hollow is simply the shinnigami powers of his father suppressing the hollow attempting to overtake his mother and the they merged. Which is the same way you put it in your follow up video about mugetsu as opposed to the first dangi Ichigo video

Mu is a fairly key idea in buddhism, and zen buddhism. it's not just their to make "moonless sky", it's really something along the lines of "empty sky". the concept of Mu is a near primal pure state of awareness. and this really sells the kind of transcendence Ichigo has made to an eastern audience.

Remember that white is not your average hollow spirit, but fusion of many shinagmi spirits combined and hollowfied by aizen, so mabe the marks resent the shinagmi power being released
It's found out later in the story during TYBW arc that "White" ,Ichigo's inner hollow , was made in a similar way to an Asauchi. Molding and folding shinigami souls create Asauchi which shinigami pour their soul/power into them and imprint them to become Zanpakuto. Generally you'd need one made by Oetsu Nimaiya who invented them , but Ichigo was never given one. His Hollow was created by Aizen presumably by killing shinigami for experiments and made a hollow pretty much exactly like an Asauchi is made. Ichigo's inner hollow originally came from his mother who was undergoing hollowification after "White" attacked her and implanted his soul in her.
"White" is Ichigo's true sword spirit , hence why he states he is Zangetsu .. because he is. Ichigo was just uninformed and ignorant to his past and kind of dense when figuring this out.
I believe Vasto Lorde form came out because "White" saw Ichigo get almost killed and got pissed beyond belief and roared out of Ichigo to protect him and kill Ulq. Other sword spirits have clearly demonstrated the ability to care for and display other emotions towards their wielders. I'd argue that as "White" grew beyond basically an proto-Arrancar level he gained more and more emotions and awareness.
What makes Ichigo great is that with his epic hybrid powers and despite the sometimes sinister side to them, he uses them to save the lives of others while asking for nothing in return. Then he humbly returns home to the human world to live out a normal life until the next crisis let's him go all out and save others. Anyone else with such power would've gone absolutely mad and used it for evil pursuits, be it to dominate as a tyrant or change the worlds even if billions have to die.

My theory is Ichigo is the reincarnation of the Soul King, having each of Bleach’s forms of the soul in harmony with one another therefore being able to transcend the limitations of each. Ichibei states that the Soul King was a transcendent being, above all other beings in the original iteration of the universe, and unlike every other character both use that power selflessly to protect, incorruptible and morally pure.

Since we know Zangetsu now lied and that wasn't his Shinigami powers but his Quincy powers holding back and leaking his Shinigami powers, and mainly that Ichigo doesn't have a real Zanpakuto yet. Wouldn't that mean that his "Zanpakuto" Zangetsu could only be a spirit weapon made of Reishi like the Quincy, with Shinigami powers puddled into it? Like, even his pre-false Shikai broken sealed sword wasn't an Asauchi, Shinigami powers making it work like a Zanpakuto but instead of being an "abnormal Zanpakuto" should that not mean it's flat out NOT a Zanpakuto at all but a Quincy weapon powered by a Zanpakuto spirit? Unstable because it has no real solid Zanpakuto form but a Quincy Spirit Weapon powered by a Hollow-fueled Zanpakuto spirit?
Day 1 of me asking for the Hisagi Shuhei character analysis.
True bankai Ichigo had his sword canceled in the future, retconned in the past, got repaired by rolling back the reality of its incurred damage and ended up cleaving Bach with the shikai version as if to troll him. I m guessing the bankai has some mix of or relation to, a sysadmin, a bastard operator from hell and a teen reddit moderator. True Bullshit.

It's so nice to find someone who actually appreciates Fullbringer Arc as much as me... honestly it was awesome, and both Ichigo's Shikai and Bankai from this arc are amazing (peak design in my most honest opinion). I wonder how powerful would Ichigo be if he got his Fullbring full power fused with his shinigami form...

I can't believe that people still refer to Ichigo's zangpakuto spirit as hallow Ichigo. Hallow Ichigo is Zangetsu. The old man is a representation of his Quincy power.
One thing I've been thinking about is Ichigos quincy powers way back in the beginning. Two things come to mind.
Ichigo stealing all of Rukias spirit energy instead of just half, similar to how Quincies control reiatsu, right?
And second when Ichigo charged up Uryu when they fought the menos, even Uryu thought it was weird because shinigami don't typically spread reiatsu around they just contain it within themselves and their zanpakto or user it for hado.
Both of these could be explained by Ichigos massive potential for spirit energy. In the case of Rukia he might have just acted like a vaccuum ready to fill his empty vessel. In Uryus case he did mention that Ichigos reiatsu was spilling out constantly so that might be the end of the story but i thought it was an interesting thought that he was subconsciously bending reiatsu like a quincy.

I did not realize the initial hollow mask showed up w/ 2 large stripes in the manga, but first showed in the anime w/ 3 red stripes. That’s actually crazy. But I love the deep analyses of the show and it always gives me more reason to enjoy my re-reading of Bleach (about to enter peak PEAK fiction with SS Arc)

It's just my head cannon but I always like to refer to the Vasto Lorde's cero as cero inferno. Mainly because it's so strong it sets a blaze the sands of Hueco Mundo. As well as even though the hell verse movie isn't cannon his cero sets hell on fire and a massive blazing inferno in the living world.

My personal theory about the hollow mask is that the number of red markings on it correlate to how durable it could be; as he gets stronger, we notice that the mask itself can withstand more damage. Obviously nothing exponential, but definitely enough to where it could make the difference between victory and defeat

I mean it kind of makes sense the Ichigo stays in a single blade form because that’s what the form that he’s used to using. He’s been using it since day one so that makes sense that’s his form he’s most comfortable with.
My favorite arc is definitely the lost agent arc. Ichigo's fullbring shikigami form is my favorite with TYBW Ichigo is my second favorite.
The fullbring arc was full of forced meaning and an excuse to continue the story and give iIhigo his power back. I loved the TYBW but fullbring arc was trash, they had a perfect ending when Ichigo watched Rukia disappear before his eyes. The way the show started it could of ended.

Basically his hollow mask slowly began to break out of that barrier his quincy side put it. He no longer needed the mask as that mask was a temporary door. Instead of opening it he kicks it down.

I remember years ago a friend said the red stripes made them think of the Japanese Flag. The Red symbolizing the Sun and that japan is affectionately called "The Land of the Rising Sun" ... so to them (my friend) "Source of the Sun" so to speak.
So it's stuck with me that Ichigo was in fact waking up (Sun Rise)... What we believed to be the "bad" element of his internal conflict [ie: the Hollow/ification process and what we finally see in TYBW where he accepts his trichotomy nature]
Ichigo was in fact "waking up" even way back then, and we simply took it as "Oh no Bad Hollow Infection making Ichigo do evil things"
Ichigo is the only character in Bleach that has become or awakened abilities from all the races mentioned apart from the Bount . That makes him the only 6 dimensional character in the series.(This was stated to be non-canon material which only appears in the anime)
1-Shinigami (or Soul Reaper)
2-Hollow / Vizored
3-Full Bringer
4-Quincy
5-Zanpakutou/Soul Slayer and finally the reason i think he had or has an edge over all the opponents who crossed his path -
6-Human
All the other enemies barring Quincies and Fullbringers were dead and resided either in Soul Society or Hueco Mundo which we know are spirit realms.
Quincies, while being alive do not have the ability to cross into SS and HM without some sort of conversion to enable them to be able to exist and interact in either of the aforementioned - Ichigo did! Fullbringers were a menace in the real world with a ... Mutation, if you will - who were able to manipulate the spirit aspect of an object and was a remnant of, or influenced by Hollow abilities. When he became Getsuga he was essentially a Soul Slayer/Zanpakutou and was able exist and function in this form when he fired off Mugetsu. Thus I say even Aizen while being transcended was 5 dimensional as he had been in soul form when we made his acquaintance. Thus Ichigo is literally a whole dimension more than all the foes he faced off with and also the reason he was the ideal candidate for assuming the role of the Soul King when the currently reigning monarch was met with his demise. This is only my observation of the Bleach series so please feel free to challenge as i'd appreciate other perspectives where mine is lacking.😉

I’d like to count how many times you said Hollowmask but I don’t have time. It’s gotta be over 100 though
I just thought of something about the tenshintai: the piece of his spirit that Ichigo needed to find and rely on to beat OMZ was himself, the piece made for fighting. He needed to pour himself into the asauchi just like he later does at the forge in the royal palace. Once he stopped depending on the sword entirely and relied only on the part of himself made for fighting, he could beat OMZ. That part of himself was the resolve to protect at all costs.
Just a theory...
This might be a stretch but what I think is a good idea is that in the anime they show how ichigo's power works through one of Ywhach's future visions so it doesn't leave the mystery of Ichigo's bankai up in the air
so in a not shell his power it pretty much say fuck you fate nothing has to set in stone or preordained

The problem I'm stuck on is what Kubo said about a zanpakuto and its scabbard. The last Hell chapter we got shows Ichigo holding the original shikai zangetsu form. So, is Ichigo in bankai form here???
If this is just his shikai, then what the heck does his bankai look like? I mean, the last arc just had the bankai turn out to be his old shikai with a white scabbard coated over it. The last chapter would mean that his shikai and bankai are essentially the same and don't change form now.

I wish Ichigo's Quincy powers were showed off a bit more. We got the fusion of a Cero and a Getsuga, would have been cool to see the fusion of a quincy arrow or something with his getsuga or cero. Something like Ginrei Kojaku with small Ceros backing them up might have been cool? Just throwing thoughts out off the top of my head. It was cool seeing his forms come together but the final fight felt so rushed that we barely got a chance to see what he could do.
but what i loved about the hollow is that to keep living he fused with ichigos zanpacto and kept on protecting ichigo knowing that if one of them dies the other will too its all about protecting his master lol just watch every time ichigo is about to get killed what happens they guy pops out and lay waste to verything close to ichigo
The explanation of the Final Getsuga Tensho has me wondering. Getsuga is the ability to condense spiritual power into the tip of the blade and fire it off as an attack, so what if Final Getsuga Ichigo never used Mugetsu? I will accept maybe even if the transformation was a power boost, he still needed to use it all at once to stop Aizen, but would he be able to ACTUALLY fight in that form and retain his power? he wouldnt lose his shinigami power if he never fired it off, right, Or is it more like Letzt Stil as stated that the power boost is so overwhelming it burns out the users spiritual power even when not used to its fullest, despite the two techniques being fundamentally different?
For his Horn of Salvation form, you mentioned that he obtains this form by disrupting his raishi to force out his hollow powers. If his balance works anything like a scale, then what would happen if the scale tipped in the other direction
Well, we can only assume the balance would favor the Old Man, which would allow Ichigo to use Quincy abilities like Reishi Manipulation and Blut both defense and offense.
So my theory is the number of stripes on the mask represent the percentage of its power that he is able to call upon and the thickness of the stripes is his control over that power, the change after his fight with Ulquiorra shows that white has retaken control hence why he couldn't hollowfy against Aizen since white knew that if Ichigo engaged with Aizen in that moment he would die
Ichigo's bankai has always felt more like a Shikai. Zaraki and Ichigo both have a "half-release". The dual wielding + sheathing ability is his real bankai. Or maybe his bankai was only a half release bankai, as why it only has the black sword?
The crazy part is the true bankai isn't even it's full potential we only saw Ichigo use it for the very first time and everybody knows how training a bankai goes so seeing Ichigo is it in the hell arc is very exciting

Hey, I just thought of something! In one of the very first panels of Bleach, Rukia is silhouetted by the moon. The moon is icy cold--like Rukia's bankai. We know it was Aizen who sent her there. He knew her shikai, and her relationship with the Shiba family. What if, somehow unconsciously, Aizen sent her there so she could ultimately assist in the birth of a being who could surpass him? He allowed Masaki to live, and give birth to Ichigo, after all.
And I got a feeling Aizen was proud of Ichigo. I think he was going to tell Ichigo that Aizen, himself, was Ichigo's pimp daddy--before Isshin stopped him.
Aizen stated that he planned every encounter that Ichigo had up to their confrontation.

For example, if he wanted more hollow power and less of his others, he could bring out more of it.
On the contrary, rather than it being a resurrecion, it's more like a berserk/uncontrolled bankai release (similar to zaraki's bankai). In Both cases, the zanpakto spirit has broken the master-servant/king-horse relationship between the shinigami and zanpakto spirit and both take on a demonic presence. Since at this point, zangetsu is his only zanpakto spirit (OMZ wasn't a part of his zanpakto spirit at this point in the story).

I believe the markings on Ichigo's Hollow Mask are not his control of his Hollow side, but his Hollow evolving. His Hollow form during his training with the Vizards looks very similar to an Adjucas. The thickening of the marks during the Las Noches fights up to his fight with Ulquiorra show that his Adjucas Hollow is growing in power, with it culminating to his Vasto Lorde transformation, which means the peak Hollow form, which means again the full maturing of Ichigo's Hollow side, since it does not change after it.

A few points:
I think vasto lorde Ichigo is as you said just instinct but can tell friend from foe and as a hollow he immediately attacks uryu perhaps even because the hollow/shinigami powers were being held back by ichigos inner Quincy he instinctively attacks Uryu as well
As for Dangai/Mugetsu I think this is perhaps when his inner Ywach stops holding back his shinigami powers temporarily as he accepts Ichigos decisions and he finds balance between his shinigami and Quincy powers without knowing what his quincy side truly is however still rejecting his inner hollow and of course no fullbring so just his shinigami + Quincy without any constraints which is why it goes to his Shiba clan technique and a quincy mixture/shadow look mixed with a shihaksho
42:29 my headcannon was that the number, size and color of the stripes dictated how much of the hollow power he could use/bring out. Also that after fighting aizen he never used his hollow mask because when he learned the final getsuga tensho his hollow and soul reaper powers completely fused so he is always able to use the strength of his inner hollow.
I think after Aizen he never had to use it anymore not cause they fused, but because the fullbring markings on his neck, chest, hands etc basically replaced the hollow mask and acted as it.
So is he in a constant bankai form when we see him again?

Given how thoroughly you've analyzed Bleach, there's a fanfic I was wondering if you could take a look at, called 'Hammered Down'; it's, (purportedly) a deconstruction of Soul Society as a whole, taking a look at what it would take for a system like that to actually function, and I was curious as to whether or not it actually does a good job of it, or misses the point in regards to some things (the author doesn't exactly have the highest opinion on the series, fyi)
