I have a Silhouette cutting machine. I print on cardstock on both sides with plant info, plant photo and my business information. I cut out the info card then place it in 2 x 6 bookmark laminating folder, laminate it. I get 2 plant info hang tags from each. I use to use the large sheets, but find it easier to use the bookmark folders. Loving watching you all! Learning lots!

That’s excellent and might be perfect when doing 50-100 tags. Having a picture and care information is really helpful for customers. Will have to buy some of the smaller laminating pouches and try some. Thanks 🌲🌲🌲

Good job. Watching while putting together a order of pot stick tags.... For a nursery your size, Garden Ware software and a low end Laser Printer is not a bad way to go.

Agree, we have looked at that option and like it. Likely to make a purchase within the year. Thank you for watching 🌲🌲🌲

@@Growing-Our-Retirement One caveat, it is not super intuitive to use. You have a module where you "build" the plant, then go to another module and create a label from the plants, and then go elsewhere build a que of labels to print out. But you can save all that, and it still works better than trying to use Word/Excel to line things up with proper margins and all.

Yes, Understand. Would work pretty well for us as we are under 30 plant varieties. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge on this. Thanks, Larry

For my own personal garden I bought 1,000 of the same small ones in that multi-color pack although just a box of white and used the same Garden Markers. I found that by the end of the season many of the tags had faded and the writing was gone. I made an effort to turn the writing away from the sun and had them last longer, remains to be seen if they’d last a 2nd season tho. I wonder too if it’s the texture of the tag that has anything to do with it. I used to use cut up Venetian metal blinds, I may try that with the garden market to compare. Garden marker has still been the best option so far for diy so I make sure to always have a few around to refresh tags if needed.

Hi and thanks, our experiences are about the same. We use the plastic stick tags mostly to identify plant color such as white dogwood from pink dogwood.
Good idea to turn the marker away from the sun!
The tape we mentioned works well to cover over the tag and marker but you need to make a real sandwich out of it. It will add a season of life.
      Thanks for watching 🌲🌲🌲

Yes, thanks! Sometime soon, we are going to review some printers and alternate methods. They may require a little more investment but be better and make nicer tags.
Some trade offs to consider between making custom, time to produce, and making tags by the hundreds. Thanks for watching and adding to the discussion! Larry & Martha
