This was very helpful for me. I am doing a level 6 All-State solo for Nyssma and need to do a trill and I have seen great improvements after seeing your video. Thank you so much!
Good stuff here! I like that Gabe Langfur had to say about his trills. He shakes his Bass a little bit for help. I do this too on lower register or wider interval trills. Not enough to be seen easily and hardly felt as well.
Well, this guy only gives half the picture! For the rest Charles Collins is the guy. He says "put the sides of your tongue up on your side teeth. As you go Aah Eeh, Aah Eeh, lift and drop the tongue slightly with the vowel changes, keeping the sides of the tongue on the top side teeth. I got almost instant results with the Collins results!! This chaps comments about the chin movement....I love!!
I have always been told that we trombone players are the best kissers in the symphony. I’m inclined to think they might have a point. Not to toot my own horn or anything.
When trilling or doing flexibility exercises, does the back of the tongue raise while the tip tucks in behind the behind the bottom teeth when ascending?...Tongue placement?
Hey I don't know If you still need a trombone, but if you do, I have some advice. You should first evaluate your price range. Most good quality trombones with an f attachment are $3,000 to $5,000. Also, evaluate your needs. If you are an orchestral trombonist, looking to make a career or at least attend music university, you should narrow down to large bore trombones from a good quality company, such as Edwards, shires, getzen, courtois, etc. (just to name a few.) If you are a jazz player, i wouldn't recommend a trigger trombone. Also, stay patient and open minded when trying out instruments. only purchase a trombone after trying a lot of varieties and narrowing your selections down to the one you sound best on. It's helpful to bring a friend or another (preferably better) trombone player to act as an impartial when deciding what you sound best on. However, it is ultimately up to you. You should get the trombone that you feel and sound best on. Hope this helps!
Lip Trills is a false designation it must be TONGUE TRILLS! The tongue make a movement up and down and so on, then you get pressure difference that two different freqenties let your lips do! r. Gr. Willem van Kooi B.mus.
(sorry that this in English) but he says to just do a slur between small intervals ie: major second. yhis small intervals trills are in the higher range
"Lip slurs in perfect 5ths are difficult." Does a lip trill in a perfect fifth...
Second trill was from czardas
True he probably spent lots of time mastering that though!
Your trills are BEASTLY! Although this is 10 years old now, I still remember thinking this was impossible on trombone. Thank you for sharing this.

Its amazing how well he can hit those high notes on a bass trombone.
BrianRobertsfan i play bass trombone, not that difficult
israel gutierrez you actually fucking suck. You are such a buzzkill, honestly just stop.
If he has a modern bass trombone it should be just like a regular tenor but with a second trigger
Israel Gutierrez good for you
Bass trombone does not make it harder to play high notes, it makes it easier to play low notes
I must’ve watched this video a million times...
Also was there a need for him to go that high when he demonstrated?? 😂
*To assert Dominance*
Yes.
To make us remember we're inferior...

My brain: takes in info
My braces: hold up, not so fast bud. Don’t leave me hanging
My friend sent this to me. Awesome video!
He's denson Paul pollard he does what he wants
Thank you for this great video, thanks to this video I can now also play lip trills on the trombone.
Absolute perfection!

Not to toot my own horn or anything.
Hehe nice band pun
Yes but have you ever been held by a French horn player?
Very helpful. Where was this in 1978?!?
Right on the money!
Lol Fish Face @1:53
Great video!!! Thanks!
you generally want a 60/40 to 70/30 split of top lip to lower lip on the mouthpiece; that is, more on the top than bottom
It's fine. It'll be different for everyone.

Is that a Besson BE 943? I haven't seen one of those in years!
Its a Courtois I think
grazie prof!
Hi, I am playing a regular trombone now but would like to move to a reasonably priced f trigger trombone do you have any recommendations

Very Very Good
thank you!
Easy when you’re a genius trombonist
How well does the berp help?
two and a half minutes of big paul flexing on us.....
Does it without any note definition
What brand of horn is that bass?
Nice! Great help
Thanks
GENIAL!!! MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!! TNK´S!
it scares me that he can play that high on a bass trombone.
he’s probably using a tenor mouthpiece. not too hard on bass actually
Correct.
yes
I laughed SO hard at this! :D
I thought shakes were just a trumpet thing
He has his upper lip far over the lower - I was taught this is a deadly sin: Anybody here to explain that?
Philipp there almost are no rules when it comes to brass playing. If you can do something effectively with a certain embrasure then it's valid to use
lmao
What type of trombone are you using
Tenor I believe.
No mind, it's piccolo trombone.
??
TheBandGeek | Band, Orchestra, Jazz, MORE! Yeah, yeah. Believe me.
I think you mean either alto or tenor. Look up how small a picc trombone is...
How is this fake or gay?

I've never used my tongue when doing lip trills...
Maybe on trumpet, but tongue is unnecessary on trombone.
hello, could transcribe the concepts? do not speak English, I do not understand what you're saying. Thank you
