- In this Range Report I review one of the pistols that has been in my personal carry rotation for about 12 years as I am filming this video. This video will be on my person Colt XSE Lightweight Commander (Model O4860XSE). This is a 100 Year Anniversary 1911 that was part of the XSE series which had a few upgrades over the standard line. Many of these were things that were popular on 1911 pistols around the early 2010s. Being a Lightweight Commander this pistol uses an aluminium frame. This video documents my personal thoughts, opinions and experiences with this pistol. Yours may vary.

I have an original stainless Colt Combat Commander that’s now over 40 years old. It was my first gun, and has always been my favorite (now I have over 50 guns, and at least a dozen .45s). I never liked to carry it because of the weight, but anytime I’d go to the range--for like 30 years-it would always go along too. For a carry gun, I used a snub .357 for many years until the M&P Shield came along (and then the Shield Plus).
That sounds like you have a great pistol there!
The XSE Government was my first firearm. I bought myself a blued one in 2014 as a present after returning from a deployment. Excellent gun, still in pristine condition too. The only thing I changed was the grips. I put some Gold Cup grips on it. I'm a sucker for the gold Colt medallions.
That was a great first pistol to have!
Sir, thank you for not using your slide release to load your weapon.
That's a pet peeve of mine and something i never do. ( Not a big deal, just nice to see) I lost my 1911 during the panic of covid. (Needed the cash for my kiddos). Sad, sad day. Still hurts to think about.😢
You are very welcome and I am so sorry to hear about your 1911. I hope you get one again soon!
Shirt! I thought a Ranger port was going to be some new ejection port that prevents stovepipes!
LOL, very funny.
I’ve got a Colt Government Model in stainless steel purchased in 1990. I don’t carry it. It’s a range toy. But, with 200 grain semi wad cutters over 4 grains of Bullseye it shoots like a dream
They are pretty sweet. Sounds like you have a great pistol!
First produced in 1949 as "Light weight Commander. In 1970 an all steel was offered as the "Combat Commander" .................
Yep
Hello from Idaho!
Hello there! It has been awhile!
I was in prison for 2 and a half years, I had 15 years however I was exonerated.
I have been thinking about buying one for a long time, just haven't pulled the trigger. I do have two Colt revolvers. One is the US Army 1917 model that was manufactured in 1944. For an eighty year old revolver it is accurate and fun to shoot.
I have always wanted to try one of the M1917s out.
I've got the Wiley Clapp Talo model of that pistol
So do I! I think it is a collector's pistol and I never shoot it.
Good morning, Jason, did I ever tell you that I liked you. And guess why that is⁉😂🤣😁
I thought you might be the first to comment on this video. LOL
Nice pistol👍
Thank you!
If you do not like 1911's, we can not be friends ............................ 🙂
I know many people who share that feeling.
I need this in 10mm
I am liking 10mm more and more these days.
Nice gun. How come there is no checkering on the grips. By the way, they DO make a .46. Why did they never make a Scandium frame 1911? No girl wants to shoot .45acp. Just get them 9mm. That's plenty. Cops miss 70% of the time in shootings. You are not going to do much better more than likely.
When Browneworks made them, he did not put any on. I could order a set that way, but these work fine. It is all about personal preference.
