And this song is so beautiful because it's written about his lovely Mark, who instead of being annoyed and ashamed of how geeky or hyper or weird or whatever Scott is, he loves and cheers on all those Scottisms that he has felt ashamed for. We all deserve love (friends, partner, family) that lift up our uniqueness and cherish that instead of dulling it. Such a spectacular song about love for others and love for yourself. I honestly can't imagine what her reality is like. I only experience it secondhand, but I feel for her and everyone else who feels out-of-place because they perceive things differently. She had such a hard time making friends, then she finally asked if she could spend time with an online friend she'd made a couple of years ago. They'd chatted and played games together, online, but he only lives about two hours away. So, after speaking with his mom, we finally agreed that they could spend a day together...supervised. They were great together! He is also on the spectrum, and they just understood one another. Unfortunately, after almost a year of them spending several weekends together, an incident ended their friendship. I worry that she has lost trust in people, but she's been more emotionally connected to myself and my husband since then. I also have a 'child' (they're actually 21 now) that was diagnosed with schizophrenia at age 15, along with bi-polar disorder and few other mental conditions. Life with people that suffer these disorders is difficult, but also rewarding when you witness their little victories. After several suicide attempts by the 21-year old (and one by the 13-year old...when she was 8), I'm so thankful they're still here. I just remind myself, every day, that interactions with them have to be careful and words need to be thought out before having a conversation. They both perceive things so differently, and understand phrases and such in drastically different ways. I guess what I'm getting at is that there are a lot of us here who understand your situation, and I wanted you to know that you're never completely alone. I love your open honesty, and so enjoy watching your reactions. I'm here for it all.
I always tear up when I see Scott's face when Mark comes from behind him and hugs him. Scott did some TikToks of Mark's reaction watching the video that is just sweet, too. I am alone by choice as well, and having outlived all my older relatives sometimes feel the loss more than other times. This song makes me so happy for those who have found a soulmate.

I can't hear this song with out welling up. Or only listen to it once at a time. Even those who don't choose to be alone can feel lonely, and choosing to be alone does not eliminate the possibility of loneliness. In my experience, loneliness is a state of being that exists beyond the company one keeps. I resonate so deeply with Scott's description of being broken and blaming oneself to the point only seeing brokenness in the mirror. Then in finding the person that sees in him beauty and uniqueness he can't, becomes transformative. I suffer from severe chronic pain, and nausea 24/7. Music heals me. I love the message in this song. My husband has stayed thru 35 years of addiction and medical issues. My husband is my miracle from God. He cares for me every day. He cooks and shops for me. Personally, I like being alone. I have severe social anxiety around people that don't understand my medical issues. I don't want to be seen as a cripple. Music heals me mentally, emotionally and physically. Scott has so much soul in his voice. He makes me feel things I don't always want to look at. But my faith in God sustains me every day. I love your reaction Mr. J. Scott deserves all the recognition and radio play with this one. I'm also in the same boat, socially. My parents are gone. I have no contact with my extended family, I've got a sister and a dog 🤷🏻♀️ And only one of the two has much time for me. Mostly I'm happy with that, but there are always days.

You are that which has risen from the fire. You are enough. Some people even when surrounded by a crowd or having company could as well be extremely lonely. Think about it. You are enough!
