SW:TOR - Jaesa-Light (Sith Warrior Companion)

  • ~SPOILERS~ This is Jaesa Willsaam's storyline during the Sith Warrior campaign. This is being played with the point of view of a Light Sith. Jaesa is one of few SW:TOR companions who are influenced based on the player's alignment. Jaesa is voiced by Rachael Leigh Cook.
    Warning: She is NOT a romance option if she joins you as a light-side companion. There are other videos floating around that show scenes of Jaesa-Dark and her romance. I, personally, do not like her dark-side version. She is repulsive and does not hold a candle to a heart-felt romance like Ashara's, Vette's, or Kira's.
    If you liked Jaesa's light-side story and wished that she was a fully romanceable option (Light and Dark), please go to the Star Wars: The Old Republic Official forum and let your voice be known! Remember that talking about her is a big spoiler to many and to use the "spoilers" forum for elaboration.
    Thanks!
    Anaconda

      There were alternatives to violence. Ultimately, the sith is trying to get Jaesa's parents to defect in order to sow the seeds of doubt into her. It's not a benevolent action. He's trying to break Jaesa before he meets her.
      Killing everyone else in your way is pretty needless when you could sneak into the palace and risk a direct confrontation.

    She's so much more interesting if encouraged to remain light side. As a corrupted apprentice, she's just a hedonistic and bloodthirsty beast, slave to her own impulses to such a level she doesn't even adhere to Sith philosophy. As a light sider, she struggles with something, has a task to carry out, and by seeing it through she strengthens her convictions, even though she and her Master seem to be two lonely flames in a sea of darkness. The payoff seems much better, narratively speaking.

    I view Light Side Sith Warrior (At least MY Light Side Sith Warrior) as a kind of ruthless vigilante of the Star Wars universe. He protects/refuses to kill innocent people, and wants to end the slavery, anti-alien policies, and evil within the Sith Empire, but he's willing to kill evil people or specific threats to the Sith Empire to do it. Both his greatest moral virtue and flaw is his stubbornness; stubborn enough to defy the path of evil despite pressure from the other Sith, but too stubborn to realize that redeeming the Sith Empire is a nigh impossible task. He's arrogant and cocky, but not at all selfish, and he does appreciate the friendship (Or romance, in Vette's case) of his crew. He has a lot of hatred, passion and fury in his heart, and he believes that these are essential virtues that make him stronger, but he uses that hatred, passion and fury to help others rather than just himself. Personally, I think Light Side Sith Warrior is by FAR the best and deepest character in the game.
    That's just my interpretation.

    • @PsychoticSorcerer666
      @PsychoticSorcerer666 10 лет назад +54

      On the Warcraft alignment spectrum, your character would be considered Chaotic Good.
      It makes me want to share a little about my Sith Sorcerer character (a reflection of myself). Someone describe my character:
      He acts more on his own moral standards and personal interests. Not affiliating with any force alignment in particular, this powerful renegade sith lord serves the Empire, but isn't loyal to anyone. He bears a deceptive mask of respect toward anyone, whether its people he considers pawns and his "superiors", but ultimately doesn't answer to them if he doesn't agree with a certain course of action. Sith who have died because of him, usually met their fate due to underestimating the Sorcerer because of his lack of outright arrogance as they did.
      An example of his lack of obedience was clearly exhibited on the planet Voss, where Darth Serevin requested his assistance in persuading the Voss to join the Empire. At some point the sorcerer revealed to the Voss mystics the true nature of the nightmare lands. Serevin was clearly angered by this, and claimed the sorcerer botched the Empire's plans with a single sentence. The Sorcerer argued that, it is better not to lie to the mystics. The Sorcerer told Serevin that the Voss would be displeased if he lied to them by telling them the Jedi were responsible for the Nightmare lands, and not the Voss-Gormak War. Although the Sorcerer ultimately was proven correct, Darth Serevin still pleaded that the Sorcerer needs to give priority to the Empire in the future, not just himself.
      Interestingly, what people consider to be the biggest blight on the Sorcerer's personality is his lack of adequate social skills. This is hindered further by his insulting nature, snarky attitude, and rude humor. He has had nearly no social life, and this was brought into question when the sorcerer came to prominence after killing his master for allegedly "trying to take over his body". The sorcerer's followers began to wonder if the Sorcerer had any relation with the fallen jedi Ashara Zavros. Despite what many Imperials want to believe, there is little hope of such relationship. For all of the Sorcerer's false promises to reform the Empire and turn to the light, Ashara saw that there was no hope in trying to make a remotely decent jedi out of him. This, furthered by the Sorcerer's behavior, has distanced the two to great lengths.
      Usually, the Sorcerer goes dark if aggravated, or if the darker decision is considered better in some way he does it. If the Sorcerer doesn't feel like being evil, he doesn't. This behavior has infuriated the more conservative, hardliners, while confusing many. Tricking and messing with people's expectations brings the Sorcerer much amusement, especially when it brings out the true person in someone else.

      @PsychoticSorcerer666 10 лет назад +10

      *****
      He does look out for people he deems worthy of saving. Once on Quesh, he saved several Republic miners instead of killing them. As for people like Thana Vesh, he would find intense gratification watching her suffer after the way she behaved. Another example was when he needed information from a Twi'lek dancer on Tatooine. After she sassed him telling she didn't know anything, he simply said "That wasn't the answer I was looking for." and shocked her until she confessed.
      Yeah, I say neutral because for all of his good qualities, he's got an equal amount of evil counteracting it. Some might call me a Gray Jedi, but more of a Gray Sith (if such a thing exists)

    Lightside Empire characters are simply the best and easily most immersive.
    My first playthrough was a lightside Sith Warrior.
    My second was a light-leaning neutral Imperial Agent (No, I didn't join the Republic at the end. I became a ghost and a Free Agent.)
    Both stories were great, and the lightside choice is often the more mature and logical.
    For instance, a darkside Sith Warrior just says "DIE JEDI RRRRAAAAAAGGGGGEEE" and that's pretty much it. All destruction, and a slave to your own murderous impulses.
    A "lightside" Sith would open discussion with Jedi foes, and debate with them the failure of Jedi philosophies.
    A dark Sith kills a Jedi.
    A "light" Sith causes Jedi to angrily forsake their own ideology before killing them.
    I don't think I could even play another class after the Agent though.

      I went with a sassy Dark Side Inquisitor, but he would lean more towards the Light Side when Ashara was involved (and yes, he romanced Ashara as well). Basically to leave it open ended as to whether his romance with Ashara would ultimately "redeem" him or might instead drag Ashara down into darkness with him. Still irritated that the Inquisitor can't fully corrupt Ashara though, while the Warrior can fully corrupt Jaesa though.

      Most of my imperials zig-zagged, for different reasons. Agent preferred subtlety and was focused on protecting the Empire and its citizens. Bounty hunter was an honorable professional, and Mako guilted him into sparing someone a few times. Warrior was ruthless but kept his word and preferred straight fights. Only my Inquisitor went full-on 100% dark side, which I felt worked pretty well for a slave suddenly given power and a high position.

    I actually wanted to play light side with warrior because I thought it would be more interesting than a big bad murderer who cuts his way though his enemies to achieve his goals. This storyline surprised me in that it awarded me for my actions and intentions behind them. When I got to the Chapter 1 climax, I was overjoyed that the game actually cared about my choices, and gave meaning to them. I felt like everything I had done up until then had paid off, instead of a few cheap cutscenes where I was the good guy, but really had no lasting impact. This storyline is still my favorite to this day, and that will never change.

I feel like both the character and Jaesa should be able to romance out of a genuine love because Jaesa also decided to leave the Jedi, thus abandoning their rules of marriage and love. Either that or tone down her dark side so at least it's not so freaky when she just goes all masochistic lovey on the character.

      I did in my Light Sith playthrough. This was during the beta of SW:TOR and I was testing some neutral choices rather than a 100% do-gooder peon to the enemy. It turns out it's either super light, super dark, or a bit dark. There really isn't a "good neutral" in most morality choices for Empire characters.
      This is also shown when Jaesa wants to see in your head.. As a Light/Neutral Sith, you're also aware your Empire companion Quinn is watching and taking note. Last thing you need is for him to report to Baras about your "betrayals". So I choose the middle choice "Don't see in my head" and my char responds with "Do it, and you're regret it!" ... Really neutral there.. lol.

So if I decide to not kill a group of scientists so they will join the empire in making weapons for the empire I shouldn't get a light-sided boost yet I do. The way I did my warrior was as a merciless killing machine, but one with an ability to show respect for his opponents, up until Tattooine, where in perfectly retracing the steps of "the Jedi Padawan" started to have a shift in the force. That, and Vette rubbing off on him. Be he still battled his mirror, and killed the master on Tattooine, believing that he was too far gone to be pulled back to the light. But even when he killed the master, he let him commune with the force and find peace, sending him off with his highest respects.
    From then on, he changed more. On the surface, he played the role of the murderous sith so as to keep his crew safe. But when given the chance to let his guard down, he showed that he was slowly being redeemed by the light. His first REAL act of defiance against the darkside would be at General Organa's stronghold. There, I listened to her plea and went to defend her front that was about to fall, inspiring her soldiers as well.
    It wouldn't be until he was frozen in carbonite for 5 years that he'd truly get his chance to shine. Now displaying true balance in the force, light and dark together, he united the galaxy against a common foe.

    @Halabz That is a tough question. I've played both to the end of their class stories as light side. The Sith Warrior offers more story-altering choices as Light-Side. However, the Inquisitor takes the cake when it comes to the ending. The Light-Side Inquisitor ending is the most ironic and fascinating conclusion for an advocating alignment. I can't wait to continue my Light Inquisitor's story, once Bioware adds more Acts.

    watching light side sith playthrus just makes you realize the empire would have never lost if the sith were reasonable and not cartoonishly evil in the current stories. Like most people would agree with a rational sith, and they don't even know it because all siths are bat shit insane.

    being the pure light-sided sith that i am with 0 dark-side points, and all highest value light-side choices taken whenever possible, spared and was kind to everyone in my search for Jaesa, i didn't suggest for her to use her power on master Karr, but allowed her to do so on me when master Karr ordered her to look into my heart. "i see... mercy... kindness... and even... compassion? you walk the path of light!". i've had master Karr sent to the jedi order for rehab. "his connection to the force is flawed." it's like playing jedi among sith, right under the nose of the dark-side. to me, the light-sided sith im playing is - as i say - "soooo deliciously ironic"

    The way the Light Warrior makes it sound is that the heart of the Empire must be confronted and beaten. He mentions to Jaesa that various Light Sith would help when the time comes to "make their move."
    As a Light Inquisitor, it's much more subtle and cunning. Peace with the Empire requires political reformation so that many things cannot go unpunished (like a Sith killing a cruiser full of people because he didn't get a free pass). The inquisitor hopes that the Empire crumbles from within.

    Honestly, light side Sith seems boring.
    The thing that i love most about the sith warrior history is the constant oportunity to twist the Jedi morals againt and for me the dark side end of chapter 1 is just perfect.
    I admit that going 100% dark side option is just stupid but the same to going 100% light and forgiving all those future enemies that could cause you or other empire trouble.
    I prefer to go 85% dark side until rank IV (red eyes!) chosing light side only where the option seems smart or the dark side was stupid.....sometimes i go for the neutral option (when i have) because neither one convince me
    .

    • @mychaeldark1007
      @mychaeldark1007 5 лет назад +2

      @@eivorofthenorth Agreed. I just started playing yesterday. I'm playing with my own mind up backstory and history for the character. He's vicious to his enemies, but seeks diplomacy to those who are willing to talk. Turned the assassin over to Imperial intelligence, gave the sith a death in combat, and let the ex-forger go free, because my character believed that it was the right thing to do. Helped the Jedi escape and told him of the information he was given was a trap. However, should someone raise their blade at him, he will not show mercy nor let them live after. Well mainly any sith that do.

    It's actually funny how much damage is done simply because Jedi can't believe that there's a sith that is not on a killing spree.
    The Sith-Warrior light side story is my most favorite out of all force user stories. The sith warrior actually becomes good out and is not bound by the restrictions of the jedi and also not bound to the Empires agenda by loyalty, it is actually expected of Sith to go against their masters at some point.
    This said, I would claim that the light side Sith warrior is actually even the good guy compared with the light side Jedi.
