Please note that music videos hadn't even been invented at this time. This was a promotional film. Nobody was using backwards tambourine, very few bands even had facial hair. Not very many were using string backgrounds in this manner. Distorted vocals were very rare, too. Try some of their earlier music if you want to rock, but even then their harmonies and pop love songs were unlike anything else on the radio. As for the name, Strawberry Field was an orphanage where John played as a boy. Don't think you are quite ready for the dreamscape of A Day in the Life.
To put it into context The Beatles went from releasing "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" in 1963 to releasing "Strawberry Fields" in 1967, with all the touring and promotional work in the interim it is mesmerising that such development could be achieved in such a short span of time.
there wasn't just Elvis back then, there was also Buddy Holly and the Crickets, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Gene Vincent, Bill Haley and the Comets, all who the Beatles admired when they were teenagers and were influenced BY them. They covered some songs by Little Richard, Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly and others on their early albums and also during their sets when they were the local Liverpool band (before they were famous)

Dad passed away and 1977 @ 57 years old and mom passed away 2010 in her early 80’s and me and my siblings are still alive but we are in our middle late 60s. Live for the day because time passes by so fast. God bless Strawberry Fields forever.

There was Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis before Elvis. But Elvis was like freak of nature with his looks, (unmatched)charisma, "un-White" moves, and genuine vocal instincts and skills for rock, country, & gospel. Then came Buddy Holly, Motown, Sam Cooke, Bob Dylan.. and then the equivalent of a four-headed alien invasion from Liverpool
Elvis was the embodiment of culture appropriation at the start of his career, most of it driven by his label and management, still a great entertainer though.

The lady wins because she likes this greatest of songs, and the gentleman does not, and yet preemptively accuses the beautiful lady of disliking it. It is quite entertaining. I would say that the brother needs to have more selection power, and the lady more equality of opinion.

Come Together, Tomorrow Never Knows, Dear Prudence, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Don't Let Me Down - John 3. While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Here Comes the Sun, Something - George 4. Totally blew everyone away and was the moment the Beatles stopped being music you dance to to music you listen to.’
Second this. Don’t do drugs guys but let’s be honest. With acid or mushrooms you actually understand how good the beatles are. They put you into a dream. Sgt Peppers all the way through 😱
The song is about the terror of being alive. John Lennon attempting to describe what his life feels like. Every lyric is full of conflict, doubt and tension. It is actually a pretty heavy song. Ignore the video.
I mean ignore the Beatles video. Not who’s right who’s wrong. I like what you do. Back to Lennon, a big theme in his later work is his effort to come to terms with existence - in Tomorrow Never Knows, Strawberry Fields, Julia, God, Mother, and finally Watching the Wheels, where he finally seemed at peace with life.
Before this song The Beatles were not Twist and Shout, but Tomorrow Never Knows, Rain, Paperback Writer, Eleonor Rigby, She Said She Said, Got to get you into my life, Nowhere Man, Girl, Michelle and many more... So often this is a very missing part of them that nobody tell...
for a joke, you should do the monkees "a little bit me". there is a line in the song that goes "girl, i don't want to fight, but I'm a little bit wrong, and you're a little bit right". I like to change the words a bit to "girl, i don't want to fight, but you're a little bit wrong, and I'm a little bit right". I think this would be perfect for your channel, haha.

The mellotron at the beginning of this song is one of the first ever sampling machines as early as its original design was first patented in 1949 by American inventor Harry Chamberlin. He was apparently very strong-minded, i.e. he only wanted to do things whenever he wanted to. His window cleaner-turned-sales agent Bill Fransen got a deal for Chamberlin's design to made in larger quantities, but the latter wouldn't have it, so in the end Fransen pinched a couple and brought them to Bradmatic Ltd in Aston, England in 1962. There, three Bradley brothers and magician David Nixon formed the company Mellotronics (melody & electronics), with backing by bandleader Eric Robinson. Although the Graham Bond Organisation were among the very first to use the Mellotron on their song Baby Can It Be True, the Beatles were the first "prominent" band to use a MKII model with Paul playing the sampled flute intro. Subsequently, the instrument was used by bands/artists such as King Crimson, David Bowie, Yes, Genesis, OMD, Oasis, etc. Modern examples include Michael Jackson's Give In To Me and the Black Eyed Peas' Don't Phunk With My Heart. And it's still being used even today as the M4000D. 🙂
Strawberry Fields was a park in Liverpool where (I think) they would go to escape from everything. One of the hardest tracks to listen to as an intro, but most of their music is so familiar it's hard to find something unfamiliar (for me anyway) 'Here comes the sun' isn't bad - not Beatles 'Pop' and not indulgent psychodelia either. You'll probably find that you know Beatles songs, but didn't know they were Beatles songs. I like the honesty" UK
The Sgt. PEPPER'S Album took over 700 hours to record. Strawberry Fields took 50 of those hours. The production techniques were groundbreaking, as was the accompanying music video. 🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦
AC/DC would be interesting to introduce her to (unless she’s already familiar with their stuff) As for The Beatles, anything off of Sgt Pepper would be good. Maybe ‘A Day in the Life’?
The two of you should react to The Beatles (actually George Harrison) "Within You and Without You" from their 1967 album 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Band'. My all time favorite song on that album. But the album it's selve is a classic and many bands, musicians of that time were just amazed. That album by The Beatles really changed rock music in a whole different way in 1967. I was 11 that year.
The Electric Light Orchestra is who you need to listen to "Sweet Talkin' Woman" or "Don't bring me Down" or a list of others by this band was completely overlooked from the 1970s.

" Where did you get all that money? You didn't steal it, did you?" "Oh, no, no", said the old lady. "You see, my back yard is right next to a Golf course. A lot of Golfers come and pee through a knot hole in my fence, right into my flower garden. It used to really tick me off. Kills the flowers, you know. Then I thought, 'why not make the best of it?' So, now, I stand behind the fence by the knot hole, real quiet, with my hedge clippers. Every time some guy sticks his thing through my fence, I surprise him, grab hold of it and say, 'O.K., buddy! Give me $20 or off it comes!' "Well, that seems only fair," said the cop, laughing ."OK. Good luck! Oh, by the way, what's in the other bag?" "Not everybody pays."
