I sometimes imagine myself, while listening to Awkward, driving on the Pacific Coast Highway.
Its a leisurely/scenic drive to start, until halfway through the song... Mincho shows up out of nowhere and takes the wheel from me!
She then proceeds to speed and take the turns too fast. Then during the final guitar solo, she drives us off the cliff, a la Thelma & Louise!
I was terrified, but I had a big smile on my face.
This is in my top 5 easy- unique genius composition by Kanami. The live version is to die for- the final outro solo by Kanami just melts me.
Kanami always takes me places I’ve never been. I love her song writing and her guitar moves me all the time.
"Awkward" is a pop/rock masterpiece. The lyrics, the dynamics of the song with multiple solos by Kanami and to the build up to the emotional crescendo and release. And there is that MISA giving us the rare occasion of her playing with fingers throughout the song instead of a pick.

This is another great song among so many other great songs. I'm 55 and have many rock bands that I like and still, there are some songs that I don't care for. Band Maid is the first band where there is not one song that I don't like. They are incredible. Their songs all sound like Band Maid, while at the same time, they don't sound the same. Brilliant writing with so much talent.

I can never get burned out listening to this song. Correct me if i am wrong but I've heard Misa gave Kanami this bassline and they made magic with it.

Here are a few great and heavily under rated/played Band-Maid songs. All in my "A" catagorey. Youth, Hibana, Page, Dilemma, Azure, Hide and Seek, I Can't live Without You, One and Only, Clang, Turn Me On (my fav Kanami solo), Anemone, Cross, You, Awkward, Unfair Game, Matchless Gum, Look At Me, Order, Yuragu, Freezer, Arcadia Girl, Beauty and the Beast, Shake That.

OMG.. awkward has such an awkward progression through the song. each time we come back from a chorus something sticks with it and the song just builds and builds right to the end
Definitely love the build up in this song. Sets me up for the Mincho solos where she proceeds to melt my face off and i love her for it!
This song hits so many feels. It's one of the many reasons why Just Bring It is my favorite album. It has quickly become one of my favorite songs. Kanami's solos are so full of emotion. In fact the entire track is a journey. I love the live version from the Studio Coast show, they sound so amazing. I especially love that you can hear every instrument in this version. I love Puzzle from this show as well. Also, Miku sounds amazing in this song both voice and guitar. ぽ
Just Bring It is probably my top BAND-MAID album.
Awkward is such a great song. I only wish they'd get mixes like Studio Coast more often. You can hear everyone so well, even better than on JBI.
Mincho's two solos on this track are so tasty. Perfect timing, perfect sound effect, perfect length, etc, etc... this is one of the perfect examples to prove that the guitarist doesn't have to play fast to create a masterpiece. Reminded me, not exactly the same style, but Mark Knopfler and David Gilmour. She talks to us through her PRS. I was also surprised by Miku's playing. During the 2nd verse to the pre chorus, she played the same riff together with Mincho!? and during the 1st solo, she took over the riff! (Am I right?).
They do that a lot. Kobato and/or Misa will join Kanami playing the same riff, then Mincho goes off to do her solo. I know Misa did in this song; not sure if Kobato did, I have to listen to it again, lol!
@@FilAmConnections Thanks for letting me know! I will check Miku's guitar playing carefully though. I noticed that Miku is playing more than just simple Power Code stuff on the latest Puzzle live. I think she didn't play the riff just before the solo on the previous live version. Anyway, it's nice to see her progress!

A masterpiece İMO the song,to me,builds in 3 stages and each one is seamless to the next,that is really clever songwriting and only BM can compose a song that has everything you could wish for,,great reaction.

6:23 one of my favorite part too! MISA and Miku carrying on that riff with Miku adding a little bit of grunge to the texture of the song. For me, Miku is so important to the foundation of this song. It's like Mincho and MISA's part are guiding you and Miku's part is the one pushing you forward. Miku's guitar accenting every other note helps set up that anticipation. And when her vocal comes in to harmonize with Saiki is just ❤.
You’re right, Miku is BAND-MAID’s secret weapon. She’s come a long way and makes the whole band sound better. Wouldn’t sound the same without the pigeon!
I also noticed Miku guitar very clearly in this song.
Reviews and analysis are great. Band-Maid is notoriously hard to "get" on the first listen.
