They also laid off a lot of posties over the past 5 to 10 years and Ahmed Fahour capped their salaries and whatnot to save taxpayers money(he did).
Then he got paid out a massive benefit then the Liberal government crucified Holgate over some watches she gave for performance bonuses(Even though they wanted Aus Post to be run like a private company and to generate profit and not be a drain on tax payers).

Australia Post were outsourcing their package deliveries to 3rd party people. At the shop I worked at, we literally had one of their people drive up to the front of the shop and throw packages through the open doors and onto the floor. Some of it was fragile items. We had to make semi-regular complaints to Aust Post, because of it.
The "Sorry we missed you" part is also true. Once I was waiting for a package to arrive to the same shop. All I got was one of those cards that said no one was there at 11am on a Thursday. There were seven staff members in our open and operating store at the time.
I went to Australia Post to pick up the undelivered package, but they were closed, because it was a Friday before a christmas long weekend. It wasn't even a public holiday, but they closed up anyway. I had to go back there a few days later, to be told it was longer than seven days, so my stuff had been sent back to the sender. Four or five of those seven days were when the Post Office was closed. I had to put in a complaint to the ombudsman because of it all.

I get it, it’s a piss take. But I feel I need to clarify a few things…I work for Auspost and after a hip replacement the only option for me, during my recovery, was the Electric Delivery Vehicle. I was pretty sceptic at first, but after having covered almost 3,000klm on one I have to admit they are excellent machines. No it’s not just about noise, it is about reducing maintenance costs, also they fob lock all doors so they protect mail whereas the Postie bike Mail is vulnerable to theft, also due to their size your whole run can be carried on them. Plus they autopark on inclines which is a great feature. Plus they are far safer than Postie bikes too, so it is a far better machine than the postie bike in many areas….not perfect but a step in the right direction. They also do 55kph and are only used in 60kph or less zones. To be fair you should do a video on peoples letterboxes and how bad many of them are…..I feel Auspost should bring out a decal for them….’Auspost Approved Shitbox”.

The idea of using electric scooters for mail delivery and last mile transport is actually pretty cool.....its not that thoes things suck,if u swap out the motor for one of those 1000w escooter motors,u would easily be clocking 80kmh.....uphill....both ways

As a postie myself all i can say is GET YOUR SHIT SAFE DROPPED. I want to deliver your parcel as fast as i can, if theres an authority to leave and a good hiding place i can be in and out in 5 seconds. By the time you get to the door ill be gone. Posties hate sorry we missed you cards. They are a pain in the ass to write out and it means i now have to carry that parcel around with me all day, then after my last delivery instead of getting to go home i now have to drive back to the PO to have it scanned back in and when we return the undelivered parcels we also have to wait in line. The ongoing joke that these sorry we missed you cards are benefiting the drivers is a joke itself

My Dad was a delivery contractor for AusPost for years, and they ran on a three strike system - as in, three complaints and you're fired. Ever. For any complaint, no matter what the reason, no matter whether it was true or not. One person complained that the AusPost magnets on his car door weren't quite straight once (country delivery area, approximately half of his 120+ km delivery route was on heavily corrugated gravel roads), and that counted. That was the only complaint he ever got, but yeah, he got out his spirit level and some fucking glue so they couldn't possibly move.

the reason they have these now is because a 35 year old female postie lost control in high winds here in Melbourne she got hit by a 4x4, coma for a short period, no brain activity and she was declared dead soon after. this is the insurance companies answer. $$$$

I worked 60-70 hours a week and never got ahead on work 🙃 its simply impossible but everyone want their amazon prime trash delivered overnight along with grandmas meds along with Billys unemployment check.

I was a postie for about 7 years back in the '80s. I rode a 110cc postie bike while others peddled the old pushy. Back then we used to provide a great service to our customers. Then late in the '80s Aust Post went 'corporate' ... things went to s*** then.

Retirement doesn't pay as well as Australia Post, so I took a job as a motorbike postie. There's a lot to be light-hearted about, like trying to find addresses that don't exist, or follow a logical geographic or numerical order to your point of delivery. It's fun trying to reconcile the Oz Post safety first propaganda with the actual "hurry-the-fuck-up" message from supervisors. It's another classic example of bureaucratic arse-covering that will leave the guys in the office sitting pretty while the poor sod out trying to deliver mail on a dodgy bike is in the picture to be shafted , should anything go wrong. A sense of humour helps and this skit was great.

A while back my modem died and Optus promises a 5 day delivery. Anyone that's been without internet for a week knows my frustration. It was a Friday so I had to go the weekend plus the 5 week days until the following Friday before receiving it, I live on a farm by myself no tv reception f'n boring. So the day of arrival comes up and I'm as giddy as a kid on Christmas by this stage, I drive 4km to my mail box and open it to find not a modem but a card, now the card wasn't your typical red card(go to your local PO for pick up) no this was a blue card which meant I had to go to the main postal hub 40km from home but as i said I was just so glad to finally have my modem that I just said f it, I'm going on this 80km round trip, Ill be playing Asphalt 8 by 2pm.
I eventually got the the postal hub and walked in, threw my card on the counter and asked "my modem please?" and the lady went around the place looking for it but said she couldn't find it, by this stage I was becoming unpleasant. She turns over the card and sees the postal worker who delivered the card had taken home my modem for the weekend and wanted me to drive to the hub(the one I was at) on Monday. I lost the plot, started yelling, demanding to know who gave permission to the posties to take your shit home with them, she wouldn't answer me, I told her it wasn't her fault, I just wanted to talk to the manager who was in an office not 10 feet behind her but they would not come out and face the music. I drove home empty handed, wasted fuel and half my day for no reason other than the postie thought it would ok to just deliver a card instead of the damn modem. That's Aus Post for ya!
