I just got back from spending a month in Lake Charles working claims. THESE PEOPLE NEED HELP!!! I can't imagine what this will do to them. They are a tough and resilient people, but even the toughest can only take so much. The most news coverage of Laura has been in the past couple of days. While the media thinks we want to see fighting politicians 24/7...real people are suffering without electricity, spoiled food, roof damage from Laura and high deductibles that many cannot afford! Price gouging has been a serious issue as well.
IT'S NOT 'FIGHTING POLITICIANS' - IT'S THE MEDIA & THE LEFT-LEANING COMMIE CONGRESS THAT IS STARTING ALL THE FIGHTS B/C THEY CAN'T BEAT PRESIDENT TRUMP...GOD PUT HIM THERE & HE'S STAYING FOR AWHILE...AND IN ABOUT A WEEK, ALL YOU LEFTIES ARE GOING TO GET THE SURPRISE OF YOUR LIFE...SHOULD THE LORD TARRY, RED IS GOING TO BE AROUND FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME...;)
Layna8 - You make me fucking sick. You dumbasses are part of the damn problem, making everything about politics. It’s sad. You’re sad. I feel sorry for you.
C W Dang, should called someone from Mobile Al to come tarp your home, business ect. Labor is 200-500 for Labor an the cost of the tarp. These people ripping folks off. I live In a hurricane area as well. They will if they can get away with it.. usually insurance company will pay for it
@C W $68k?!?! That's insane!!! I would write the state Attorney General and the State Representative for that area. They can't help if they don't knotw. I turned in a gas station in Sulphur that was charging people almost $3 a gallon for gas...CASH!
I've lived in the south all my life. This has been a way of life since I was told about this from my grandparents, my mom and dad, and now I've seen it for 60 years. This is nothing new...It's too bad...but it's nothing new...We move on...
An idea that might go a long way to lessen flooding damages to vehicles. Use car ramps to elevate the front of your vehicle, and unless flooding goes above 3 feet, that should protect the inside and the motor of your vehicle, even better if you have 4 ramps.
@@milohobo9186 Well not all car in a flood area are facing hurricane winds, a lot more are just being flooded by the raising water which is also the main killer. If you think your vehicle is better protected by letting in flood your inside, your wiring etc, so be it. But I have noticed that a lot of flooding is just about 2 to 3 feet, so I think my idea is worth considering considering the cost involved in a emergency situation as 100 years flood that are now showing sometime twice a year. If you have the funds to spend , better for you.
We did direct hits from Frances and Jeanne in 2004 Florida. God be with y’all. Two storms in a row only a few of us can comprehend. I’ll be coming over from central Texas to help ASAP. We moved out of south Florida a while back.
A One Way greyhound bus ticket out of town is the Answer for alot of these people living along the Gulf Coast states. The frequency & intensity of these Hurricanes will continue to plague this Gulf Coast region. Get out of there people while you still can & relocate that's what I did. Never Again.
I appreciate the numbers for donation but where's the number for people who need help? I never see a number for people who need help it's always a donation number
We certainly have been victims of Hurricane Laura and Hurricane Delta waters ,trees we have roofs gone about twenty large oaks Se are ready for a break we can’t finish Cleaning from Laura then delta hit blowing debris everywhere older people who have severe damages can’t get help with removal of trees, tying on blue tarps it’s sad that the people who need help can’t get it . A couple live here had insurance for 35 years and they are in seventies they couldn’t get help having to drive 8 hour back and forth staying with relatives in New Orleans and you couldn’t get gas! These things are so sad I pray they will get the help they should with devastating damage to their home! God Bless you all in Calcasieu, Cameron ,Allen,Vernon, Jefferson Davis, and Beauregard Parish !
Hasn't it been proved that dome shaped housing can withstand hurricane level winds? Can't the flood waters be caught in large storm drains and piped further inland to areas that suffer from bush and grass fires? To think how much people lose at such times I just can't understand why the relevant experts don't come together on these issues, or have they?
Because building better houses means the real estate investors can't hawkishly invest in new property and the insurance companies can't profit like vultures, these people need a new home every now and then, they need to claim hurricane damages every now and then, they die or get severely injured every now and then. Imagine when during a pandemic when your shop was already closed and you weren't selling and your state wasn't providing you enough PPP, your shop gets destroyed, there's a good chance that you go bankrupt and if your home gets destroyed, what if you have nowhere to go? Welcome to the world of Climate Refugees. This doesn't have to be this way, we could build better buildings, up to the strongest code and regulations to withstand nature if we wanna keep living a few more years next to the coast but the real estate companies won't allow for that, the states won't allow for that, we can't have to spend a boatload of money to have our house secure or gamble it if we don't have the means, we should all be secure.
My heart goes out to them. Being on the gulf coast now it's rough. Florida we feel you all pain Pensacola still got some damage. Perdido Key is bad but you all have more destruction I am sorry you all had this double whammy

Yeah they dont get hit as often for one. And two its a freak event.. happened to florida in 04 where 5 hurricanes hit two hitting the same area. But do some research before commenting

I wouldn't trust putting my car any higher unless it's on something very solid during hurricane force winds.

big difference ... ya think ?
