The Alphard has earned a strong reputation among customers for its dependability. Because it shares many of its components with other, more popular models, finding and purchasing replacement parts for it is simple and affordable. The timing chain that is used by the engine does not need routine maintenance or replacement. It's common knowledge that the 2.4-liter engine will sometimes use more oil than it should.

Japan has a rule that no car should be be no more than 3 years old or no more than 40,000kms (24,900mil) to be on the road. Solely because they want to keep the emissions low.
