    The key discovery from the Rat Park experiment was that healthy social interaction significantly affected addiction. Rats were given a choice between regular water and morphine laced water. When in an unhealthy environment without social interaction the rats opted for the morphine laced water. When placed in Rat Park with a fun environment to explore and with other rats to interact with and properly socialize with, the rats stopped drinking the morphine laced water and overwhelmingly opted just for regular water.
    The findings showed that Rats in a supportive community were less likely to choose the morphine-laced water. This strongly refuted the chemical anchor theory of addiction.

    • @naguoning
      @naguoning Месяц назад

      Not exactly. These are usually restricted substances because although they can have legitimate uses they also have dangerous uses. This happens with other things in other countries too (eg dynamite can be used in mining but also in crime). Normally you need proof of legitimate purpose, to track the use of etc. The problem is China just allows these chemicals to be easily sold to what it views as enemy states. If you are familiar with the Chinese idea of unrestricted warfare (超限戰) you will know and understand that this is how the CCP government is operating now. The DPRK is even worse in this respect but has less power/exports to be able to do this.

    We could go to a flat tax with a large standard deduction for all entities with an alternative of 1/2 as a basic income. All money not retained for business purposes should be taxed over the standard deduction. This would be mostly paid by shutting down government programs which would now be redundant duplicate efforts. Catastrophic medical bills over 4 times the the standard deduction would be paid by the government.

    The solution is simple: decriminalization if not outright legalization, along with sensible regulation and providing adequate services like treatment on demand. Both Portugal and Switzerland have amply demonstrated the success of this approach. The United States tried banning a drug already, it's called alcohol. How'd that work out?
