Only if you don't have imagination. A good writer can cook a master piece with few ingredients.
Man, this makes me sad, I really miss the Freedom Fighters and the feel the SatAM style of Sonic's world.
I wished Sega would reconsider using these characters more. No to knock IDW, but those characters almost feels like replacements and not good ones. Don't get me wrong I love Tangle, Whisper and Surge, but, the OG SatAM crew had a lot of charm that the current comic characters just don't have in my opinion. I know I'm gonna get a lot of hate saying that but I've grown to except the pain due to loosing the FF and how game only fans love to rub it in our faces that they're gone.

Also, the reason Sega Won't bring them back is because Sega Of Japan is ran by game purists with god complexes

While I do wish pre-boot went on for a little longer, I wouldn't want to see the comic split up so much. If you make Archie so much like the games, then what's the point? It would lose what made it so special in the first place. Archie worked because it was something truly unique and was about something. Not just "Adventures of Sonic".
Agreed. I do think it went a bit too over the top every once in a while, but more often than not the stories had a charm to it. I wouldn't say the reboot lost that feeling entirely though, the Unleashed arc as a whole I enjoyed a lot by how much they actually explored the world and characters, having Knuckles adventuring with Chip while Sonic and the Freedom Fighters were more focused on gathering the emeralds and dealing with Dark Gaia monsters was a nice way to explore various stories at once while taking advantage of the larger cast of characters. It felt like an expansion of the common Sonic universe with Archie elements implemented on it.
@@AtomicoMacaco I didn't like the main series during the reboot, but I did enjoy a lot of the Universe stories. Even if it still did stuff with the characters, it just lacked the heart of pre-boot. I'm not really sure how to describe it.
@bowserbreaker2515 I can help you describe it: Sega of Japan. Pre-reboot worked so much better because writers dared to break the boundaries and do something more with Sonic unlike Sega who says they're experimental but all their experiments were criticized and they just decided to keep Sonic the same.
Cocky era of bold experiments in the 90's died when Archie comics were canceled. The so called "Sonic Renessance" of 2023 feels shallow in comparison and obviously Sega won't do anything more reckless than that
@@ashesGeek I enjoyed Frontiers. But I can't stand the movies or Prime and hate IDW. Even if Sonic's reputation is better. The series isn't nearly as good as it could be. Archie was amazing and lived up to the potential of the franchise by going all in. It didn't always work, but it usually did, and when it worked, it was beautiful.
@@ashesGeek I mean, 2023 was better in that sense than the depictions of the franchise we've had from the last 10 years prior to that. But yeah, compared to how much more experimental and out of the box things tended to be back in the 2000s, there's clearly a difference.
