You never know where an idea might spark from. Watching a syfy show a few days ago and a half robot, half creature caught my eye. It gave me the start of an abstract garden sculpture. Tonight watching the sunset and the shape, swoop and weaving of the bare branches on an apple tree helped flush the design out.
Art is everywhere, you just have to look for it.
In college I had to take an art class. I chose a welding sculpture class. On of my favorite memories is a class trip to a scrap yard. The instructor picked up some odd piece of metal, held it up high and shouted out "isn't this cool". We all laughed but now I hope that I can find that vision.50 years later and retired I bought a welder. I need to work on my welding skills and then start making some odd random cool things out of who knows what. Thanks for the video!
Absolutely! The scrap yard is a great place to get inspired with all kinds of different materials
Metal sculpting has always been a secret passion of mine. It merges my technical side with my artistic side. I love this type of content.
Glad you enjoyed it! It is a great way to use your skills
I love hanging with Ivan. I’m all in for Scrapfest next year. I love his idea of a modern take on Sisyphus.
Scrapfest was awesome last year and we are cooking up some ideas for this year.
Thanks. Merry Christmas to you, your family, everyone there at Weld and to all the subscribers. 🎅
Thank you and a Merry Christmas to you as well 🎄
Ivan, you probably don’t know this, but when we worked on the splash sculpture together, I put an Easter egg in the mint leaves.
Gotta love a good Easter eggs!
