I’m very worried with the fact that they are working with Nickelodeon because I can never forgive what they did with Winx Club-
true, they drove winx club into the ground. but hopefully this is a team that knows their audience and can deal with things like deeper character development, continuity and lore. i mean, nickelodeon may have given us a bad winx, but they also gave us atla and korra, so...

@@ZuzannaFavesDie I agree with the atla part, but no so much with Korra given it handfisted Korra as an all powerful avatar that had everything given to her, while also making every original character into terrible parents with no actual reasoning for that. It was just edgy and grim for no reason, completely contradicting the hopefulness in a grim world the original series had.

On their official Instagram page, they confirmed that a doll release will coincide with this movie coming out in 2022! I'm quite hopeful that they'll re-release a "scarier" line of dolls, but I'm going to approach this series with caution because of how badly the Winx series on Netflix burned me. The team working on this series seems to be pretty solid; I just hope that they don't take the route of the rebrand and make everything less frightening looking for the sake of potential sales. If they re-released the original dolls in some capacity I'd absolutely go bananas looking for them locally. I grew up on those dolls and seeing the reboot made me super upset lol!

I feel the same! I'm terrified (in a not fangtastical way) of what Netflix will do with the live action after what they did to Winx.

@@user-mb5dd2vz9q A part of me thinks that they're going to try to make the live-action and the new animated series reflect the reboot because that's what Mattel's brand is, but I'm sincerely hoping that they're allowing for more of the spookier side of MH to come back.

Whoever ends up playing Draculaura in the live...the voice worries me. It could be incredibly grating or okay, or they might forgo it all together. But it's like.... DRACULAURA YOU CANT NOT DO THE VOICE

Let's be honest here, raceswapping in general is why so many live action films fail, on top of bad writing and handfisted pandering.
My fear is that they won't go truly goth with this like the toys are, like it could well be like Zombies from Disney. But if they do go goth, I'd be interested in it
Not even goth, I wish they'd just stick to their alt/ unique style! I desperately hope they bring back the inclusive and interesting ideas for each character

Just to let everyone know, there will be a brand new animated series of Monster High that will be part of Nickelodeon.
I read it from the Press announcement, that Mattel and Nickelodeon with join forces to do this new Monster High live-action musical movie period and also a brand-new CGI series of Monster High.
So basically there will be a new live-action movie, that will be a musical. And also there will be a brand-new CGI Monster High animated show on Nickelodeon

Monster High should stay as 2D or 3D (cgi). We all know what happened to WINX.
Winx wasn’t bad because it was live action, it was bad because the characters were stupid and the setting was nothing like the show.

Judging by the quality of the 2020 Special Edition Monster High dolls and Barbie currently I'm not too hyped. They haven't been doing so well in in the quality and design department.

What I loved about the show was that their moto was literally that they weren't perfect, had all their own flaws which they were proud of and that everything can be normal for someone depending on the perspective. I mean like it was my childhood and I was such a big fan, I think most of us were lol.

I’M SO EXCITED OH MY GOSH!! I have missed Monster High so much! 25 years old and still in love with it. 😭
I’ve been obsessed with monster high since I was 6. I literally love monster high so much! I used to design my own clothes in elementary school because of this show. I also look/act like Cleopatra; I would love to play Cleo! I always wanted to act but I gave up with on it. But if I could get an audition, I’d put all of my energy into it.
Monster High inspired me to design doll clothes. I got bummed when they discontinued. Im so stoked that they're coming back. I hope they'll look good. Gotta rack up some money to spend on them lol I still have a few dolls of them~

I feel like this is the only live action I’m willing to give a chance to, I grew up with them and I feel like they might be able to pull through and produce something good, I have faith as long as they understand why we liked Monster High so much in the first place
I’m open to the idea of a live action movie. I really liked the live action bratz movie as a kid and I still think it was true to the fashion dolls it was based off of. Good adaptions are possible! This could be a great time for MH to come back, too. Mattel has a big opportunity to capitalize on current fashion trends here considering that the original trends the MH dolls are based on have been slowly making a comeback for the last couple of years or so. I honestly can excuse quite a lot about a reboot so long as they get the costuming right. and also don’t whitewash any of their characters of color 🙃 (i srsly hate the winx club reboot)

I have mixed feelings on this:
On one hand I'm excited that MH is comming back
On the other I'm terrified on what Netflix will do on the live action based on what they did my beloved Winx and what the past reboot did to the brand

This could be really great if the films use some details and tone from the books into a more “mature” or like grittier live action series. They aren’t perfect but the books do really well at balancing a teen oriented but still accessible and funny for the majority of the audience to lean into them, like pre-teen me who loved them. There are also a lot of the animated specials that can be leaned into. All the live action needs is to not take itself so seriously as FATE while stripping the series of its uniqueness- something I’m hoping they’ll lean in further than they could in short animated stuff. :)

I could take or leave the live action movie, but I'm looking forward to the new Monster High cartoon. Shea Fontana, the showrunner for this new series, has a good relationship with Mattel, working on DC Superhero Girls (2015) and Polly Pocket (2018).

I'm terrified of a possible Monster High live action series. I just know they'll take the Riverdale route like all of these other reboots and suck all the fun out of it. They'll remember the "monster" so it can be ultra edgy with "why am i a monster ugh my life sucks" energy and the "high" so they can have bad romance plots and petty fights, but they'll exclude everything in between.
I just hope the dolls go back to quality and avoid doing the typical "suddenly way more childish than the original because SaLeS" without considering the possibility that maybe children above the age of 7 might like the show. Hell, children below 12 definitely WON'T know the show even exists!
Kids under the age of 7 don't even like the reboot. If you put the old ones and the new ones side by side, they'll go to the old ones. It's more fun to play with because of all the movement you can get with the dolls, and they look cooler. At least, for the kids I babysit.
I’m actually scared due to some live actions now of good shows,movies or toy lines and how they just ruin it from just making a live action plus I see why Nickelodeon making it with them they’re the only ones that use to show monster high movies
