I had this song, Lauren Daigle's "Trust in You" and Casting Crowns "Praise you in this Storm" and "Just be Held" on repeat the whole time I was working at tearing down our house and then rebuilding it;and I know it was God letting me know He had us and would get us through.

This song helped me to finally process and understand my mother's death. This and I Have This Hope by Tenth Avenue North. I was 16 when she passed. It took me 18 years to see the true power of God in all of it. Every time I hear it, I think of how God gave her rest from her suffering. And how He healed my broken heart, regardless of how much I pushed against Him.

After removing a patient’s heart to repair it, the surgeon returned it to the chest and began gently massaging it back to life. But the heart wouldn’t restart. More intense measures followed, but the heart still wouldn’t beat. Finally, the surgeon knelt next to the unconscious patient and spoke to her: “Miss Johnson,” he said, “this is your surgeon. The operation went perfectly. Your heart has been repaired. Now tell your heart to beat again.” Her heart began to beat.
Back story to this song. The pastor of a church had been allowed to watch a heart surgeon, who was a member of his congregation, perform open heart surgery on a patient. When the surgery was finished, the patient's heart should have begun to beat on its own, but it didn't. The surgeon massaged the heart for several minutes, but still nothing. Finally the surgeon knelt down, removed his mask and said to his patient, "The operation went perfectly, your heart has been repaired. Now tell your heart to beat again." When he said that, the patient's heart began to beat again.
As much as I love this version, the original by Phillips, Craig, and Dean is so powerful. I was going through a devastating time when my husband played this version for me. I came across the original looking for this one. The message was exactly what I needed, so I printed out the lyrics of both versions, and taped them all around my house. When you hear the story about the doctor who said these words to his patient. He had done everything he could, it was up to her then. Sometimes we have to give ourselves permission to accept forgiveness and keep going, no matter how hard it is to forgive ourselves.
