    He hit the shoulder clearly. Watch it again.

      He was aiming for the shoulder but put his head down and also made contact with the crown of his helmet with the runners helmet . I think this was a no-call because the ball carrier also lowered his head at the last moment. I could be wrong, but seems like the refs are sometimes more lenient when the tackler seems to trying to do the right thing and the ball carrier helps to initiate the contact.

      That's what I saw also. If they had tossed a flag right after Wes is gone CAL gets a 1st. CAL should've Won but they played not to lose and just had to stop 1 of the 2 4th downs, they didn't.

    why didn't they call personal foul on #21 when he pull Cam's face mask on the last play
    why didn't they call personal foul on I believe #20 or #3 for putting the finger in Horton face mask after the play
    why didn't they call personal foul on #3 when he was twisting Horton's ankle after a pile on right in front the ref.
    why didn't they call out of bounds when clearly cal player stepped out on the TD drive
    you see how I sound a little bitter and silly. We all know ref suck. Cal blow a 25 point lead with 18 min to go. Blame the coaches not the refs.

      I can see the argument for face mask but to be fair they reviewed targeting and didn’t call it but still a great comeback by Miami

    • @hellsbells4700
      @hellsbells4700 4 дня назад +2

      Exactly. Beyond that, they didn't even call targeting on the field and neither Davis or Osweiler said anything about it, until after the booth-initiated review and THEN you heard Osewiler whining about the call. 31 put his left shoulder into 15's right side as the quarterback was running forward; 31's head was in front of 15's torso when the hit took place. That and like you said, 29-3 run for Miami to close the game out. Cal's offense was shut down and the Bears' defense was lost once the Canes woke up.

    The neutral zone expands during RPO. So, that no-call was correct. I find it interesting that people critiquing the officiating in this game, announcers included, have nothing to say about Ott stepping out of bounds during his 63 yard touchdown run, or the phantom holding call that negated a Miami TD, or the fact that the Cal players were deliberately trying to bait Miami players by routinely playing beyond the whistle for the whole game and only once (when it was too blatant to ignore) did it get called.

    • @RealSportsStuff
      @RealSportsStuff  7 дней назад +1

      thanks for the comment but is the rule not 3 yards for the rpo also yeah I was just covering 4th quarter/ending

    • @sbrown137988
      @sbrown137988 7 дней назад +2

      @@RealSportsStuff 3 yards if the ball isnt passed yet. I think hes right at the 3 yards as Cam releases the ball, but its close. Anything beyond 3 yards once the ball is out of his hands doesn't matter. Cal fans don't want to acknowledge the facemask that happens on that play either (happens right before Cam releases the ball and its quick, but still a facemask you can see his helmet twist). College broadly tends to be pretty generous on those calls on RPOs compared to NFL. At most, he is about 1/4 to 1/2 yard over the 1 yard line at the point of release. I do not agree with you that it is "clear" and I can see why the refs missed both calls.

    • @k_zildjian4460
      @k_zildjian4460 7 дней назад

      @@RealSportsStuff I think the zone expands 2 yards for rpo if the lineman is engaged. My broader point was that when you view favorable calls for Miami at the end of the game in a vacuum it is tempting to speculate that "the fix is in." But in context that argument does not hold water.

    Trust me, no one would like to see the ACC clean up its officiating more than Miami. Miami has gotten screwed over for years by poor ACC officiating. Last year alone it accounted for 2 Miami losses. So, yes. Let's all please have ACC officiating reviewed and significantly improved.

  • @LuisRFernandezGroup
    @LuisRFernandezGroup 6 дней назад +4

    If you know anything about ACC refs , historically the calls have gone against Miami. There is no love lost between Miami & ACC refs. Regarding the targeting I DISAGREE the refs did not call it and secondly, the shoulder pads of the Miami defender made as much contact as his helmet and it was towards the shoulder of the quarterback. Conclusion Miami was on the receiving end on as many crucial penalties any other team would have folded.Cal all it had to do was stop us, score again or run out the clock , any of the three option would have secured a victory. Cal failed on all counts.

    • @hellsbells4700
      @hellsbells4700 4 дня назад

      Perfectly put. The blue bloods in the ACC have hated Miami since 2004 and only welcomed them into the fold knowing the Canes would help boost the conference's TV deal and would bring more revenue. The ACC refs have always stuck it to Miami; last year alone over the course of a month that non-fumble by Don Chaney which gave Georgia Tech the ball back in that loss, as well as not calling a safety on Clemson (in a game that Miami had to win in overtime) as well as a non-safety at Florida State that would've given Miami a 12-10 late second quarter lead and the ball one more time before the half with a shot to score (in a game the Canes lost 27-20). Anyone who thinks those ACC rednecks would ever help Miami; they know nothing about college football or decades of bias towards the Canes.

    All CAL had to do was not let up. They did. Or stop 1 of the two 4th Down MIA plays that had penalty yards tacked on, they didn't. Hold them on 3rd and 20 to a FG they didn't, I had a devilish smile waiting for the "targeting" call, I knew it wasn't going to CAL. It was 50/50 and the announcers aren't REFS, CAL shouldn't have lost but they did

This was my 1st fiitball game with tickets behind the Endzone Miami had to score in during the 4th, 50 rows up. Nobody caught the "forward pass" or the OL ahead until Sun.

      Ward wasn't over the line of scrimmage on the dump off to Martinez; whole body would've had to be past the 25-yard line; he was on the line and arm was on the 26 for the release.
