I really relate to what Sam Geppi says on combustion with the Sun- although not sure of the orb her may be referencing. In my experience, the closer, the better-- The sun purifies the planet, burning away anything that is unnecessary. So with Mercury, these people can actually have really clear communication, to the point, maybe they don't like small talk, but their Mercury is a valuable asset to them because of it's purity.
For the combustion of the planets, there are several opinions, some say that Venus and Saturn are free from combustion, or Venus and Mercury according to others. In my opinion, the fact of considering the combustion of Venus or Mercury as exceptional makes sense. Being internal planets, I consider appropriate to see the elongation given by their heliocentric position to consider whether or not they are distant from the Sun, a clue to be able to see it is if these planets are retrograde in the natal chart. When Mercury and Venus are retrograde, they are close to the Sun's opposition from the heliocentric point of view and near to the earth, so they do not make a true conjunction with it and are not burned by the Sun.
How does the tropical zodiac affect vimshottari mahadasha? I just entered mercury mahadasha and I'm curious to see if my sidereal or tropical Mercury ruled houses get activated. VicDiCarasAstrology I understand that, and I'm not basing it solely off the ascendant, but since the ascendant can describe ones life path as you go through the houses and their rulers, the Sag ascendant lines up on many different levels. I'm curious which works better for you? Btw, I also have my moon in the 6th house. Once again, I feel like it resonates a bit more in Taurus than Gemini, so hey that's at least 2 factors for ya ;)
Though it may seem wrong or counterintuitive, the correct basis for evaluating theory is not how much we like it but how logic it is and how well it performs on a large sample with a defined system that doesn't vary.
VicDiCarasAstrology It feels a bit disrespectful when you claim I'm just saying I simply 'like' something better. This is not what I said. Q: Can you explain - how you interpret/interlock two systems into one reading? For example: Venus in Aries in 6 house (tropical)/Venus in Revati in 6 house (sidereal) - I mean - aren't this two different stories in the same birth chart?
I won't. It's just that I'm curious what's your approach for connecting two systems in one meaning. Isn't what you doing when you look at someone birth chart and seeing there planets in signs... and in nakshatras? I get that these are two separate factors, but at the end - when one is looking at 6th house with Venus in Aries, and in Revati, one need to get out from this some coherent message. So, can you extend your answer?

Here's a question I hoped someone would ask: seeing as how The beginning of Aries coincides with the first pada of the constellation U. Bhādrapadā, would this realign the entire navāṃśa system? People usually say that the 4 padas of U. B. correspond to Leo, Virgo, libra, and Scorpio respectively. That simply wouldn't be the case here however.
Actually now I'm thinking that - true to their names - these aṃśas have nothing to do whatsoever with the constellations but are rather only divisions of the signs.
So would you say that planets debilitate in signs or nakshatras? In my case, in tropical astrology, my Saturn is in Taurus in Bharani. Which would turn into Aries in Bharani in sidereal astrology. Would my Saturn be debilitated in Bharani even thought it's in Taurus? Or is it only debilitated in Aries sign?
VicDiCarasAstrology thanks! It kind of sucks though. I wanted my Saturn to be debilitated. Imo it seems like out of all the planets, Saturn can really work and overcome debilitation to achieve greater heights.
Well said! The other thing is many people need to make sure their birth time is accurate. I've met a few people who say " Sidreal is correct, I am a virgo for sure!!" but I see that if their time was 8-10 minutes different they'd still be virgo rising in tropical too...so I ask about the accuracy of their time and they say something like: " my mom just told me. .(..from her memory) " so it's possible it's off somewhat! By the way, Vic, what is your opinion on Sage Saunaka's concept that any birth that is before a certain number of days (I forgot the exact quote. basically anyone born over 3.5 weeks or so early, basically) should use the time when the mother's placenta / water broke as their birth time. ? it's mentioned in this book, page here: www.scribd.com/document/61733647/Birth-Time-Rectification Sage saunaka taught parashara, no?
Isn't it possible that the scripture you read at the begging was written at a time when Capricorn was positioned on the winter solstice and Cancer was positioned on the summer solstice? Could the signs have changed from when that was written, thus making sidereal true?
No. What the text says (and its not just that text, but every classical definition of the zodiac) is that the solstices and equinoxes DEFINE the positions of Cancer, Capricorn, Aries, and Libra. It is the stars/nakshatra which move in reference to that.
Vic, I checked with a NASA starry night software and the sidereal seems better.... just my very humble observation....i am no expert in astrology...but however i have always been fascinated with astronomy and thereby astrology too...
Awsome video! Too bad I missed it live though. I have a question with regards the transits. Jupiter is in libra per tropical right now. If we switch to tropical vedic, when we put the transits in the Tropical vedic chart, do we put jupiter in libra or in virgo as per vedic?
Astro Flickan if you calculate a point using tropical coordinates, a transit to that point must be calculated with tropical coordinates too. And visaversa as well: if you calculated a point sodereally, then judge a transit using sidereal coordinates.
British people didn't invent the word Hindu.... it was Persian/Zoroastrians who called us Hidu or Hindu as to denote people who are settlers around and beyond the Sindhu river eastward.... That's how the coinage Hindustan came about.... Persians considered Hindustan as their ally land.... Hind + Dustan , dustan means ally/friend in Persian.... also old classical Persian is very similar to Sanskrit
i can give u reference so u can use it in future :) (Banerji, 1934: 75). Banerji, R. D. (1934) Prehistoric, Ancient and Hindu India. Calcutta: Blackie & Son (India) Ltd.
I initially believed Tropical to be true. However, after learning about Nakshatras and their influence I changed to Sidereal. If Nakshatras are inherently sidereal why would the Rashis be tropical?
Because nakshtras belong to the moon, and rāśi belong to the sun. The Moon is seen against the stars (sidereal) and the Sun is seen by its own light (rāśi)
But if nakshatras like Magha and P. Phalguni carry these Leo related symbols like comfort, drama, power, and creativity, wouldn't they carry the true essence of Leo? I suppose I'd just have to get a reading from you to find your method of combining rasi and nakshatra. Also on another note: why did you leave the Hare Krishna community? Was it for a negative reason? Would you recommend this lifestyle to somebody interested?
ImaginationLand thinking that nakshatra "carry the energy" of certain signs is just left over baggage from learning from people who explain the nakshatra in the wrong ways.
A great Q&A! Unfortunately I couldn't catch it live. I've read about this before in Western astrological books and from Ernst Wilhelm, but it's always nice to hear how shastra defines the zodiac. I keep being amazed or better say amused by arguments in favor of sidereal zodiac, like the one you've quoted from Sanjay Rath. Mostly I've heard from people who somehow accept the existence of two zodiacs that the western Tropical zodiac is more external, materialistic and Vedic sidereal is more internal, spiritual, so it is superior. The funny thing is that they then attempt to read marriage, money, inheritance, health, etc. with this supposedly internal, spiritual zodiac. Utter nonsense. And I applaud you for admitting the Greeco/Egyptian/Persian influence on the development of zodiacal astrology in India. Frankly, I was surprised that you did.

Actually now I'm thinking that - true to their names - these aṃśas have nothing to do whatsoever with the constellations but are rather only divisions of the signs.
good thinking!
Dignity pertains to signs, not nakshatras.
VicDiCarasAstrology thanks! It kind of sucks though. I wanted my Saturn to be debilitated. Imo it seems like out of all the planets, Saturn can really work and overcome debilitation to achieve greater heights.
Angel Catalan are you kidding? Debilitated Saturn is a BEAR!
VicDiCarasAstrology what's wrong with bears? lol
it's mentioned in this book, page here: www.scribd.com/document/61733647/Birth-Time-Rectification
Sage saunaka taught parashara, no?
Surya Siddhantha has formulae to arrive at the position of the planets. Not corrected for a 1000 years now.
I haveee a hugee respect for you wise person and dowwwn the earth may u gettt more succsses in astrology
Thanks for the answer and all the information! :D
Thank you!
Vic, I checked with a NASA starry night software and the sidereal seems better.... just my very humble observation....i am no expert in astrology...but however i have always been fascinated with astronomy and thereby astrology too...
which Aynamsa do you use?
Almost all of them are within a few degrees. I started with Lahiri and haven't felt any need to go anywhere else.
thank you
Awsome video!
Makes sense! Thank you dear Vic, and excuse my ignorance but I had to ask since it bothered me for a while!
Ernst Wilhem says he is now practicing card science.
That is f*n hysterical
It's so much fun!
thank you for this explanation on a topic that still bugs me a lot!
BPHS defines Mesha as zero degrees of Ashwini
Still I dont understand how both can be true.
Good information, thank you.
I was always told it was the British, but I quickly researched your idea and see it has a lot of support. I accept it.
i can give u reference so u can use it in future :)

hey vic
Is your system good for predictions? Or you use astrology more as a psychological help?
see my video on breathing disorders and my video on significant transit examples. Both videos are very recent.

Frankly, I was surprised that you did.
haha frkn Hare Krishnas I know.
