I have a bug zapper that's on 24/7 in the garage and have stopped the wax moths (to date anyway). I used to tape all the hives but that was too much work. I think the light from the bug zapper is more attractive than the boxes themselves.
That is a simple idea an very logical an I honestly wouldn't of ever thought of it an here in southern Michigan I run 7 Five acre bug zappers during the summer months 2 hours after sun down to 1 hour before sun up due to them nasty blood sucking vampire mosquitoes..I don't run them while the girls could be flying around. ;-) Thanks!!!
Bug light is a great idea....and I thought my shop was cluttered lol.. I freeze bag and store mine in a sunlight covered shed. I will have to pick up a bug light.
@OBAMFSpike hum?? Some cheese ?? Lol might work ;-) after all it is over 2000 volts average...lol not sure about the ants..we would need the wires to be close an would be fireing itself all the time But it could work for nice mousey ;-).....edited fur spell boo boo
I bought one of those bug lights with a fan hoping to remedy a mosquito problem and have caught nothing but moths.
Woolie, thanks again for what you share. The bug zapper is a great idea!
Woolie, where did you get that bug zapper?...Some are made so cheaply... That one looks well made
i bought it off amazon it cost like 59 bucks. very well built ive been running it for 4 or 5 years just about 6 months a year.
@@WoolieBsApiary TY...
Awesome idea
What does putting the yard sale signs between supers?
Smart man and it works!
Great idea! How in the world do you keep red wasps and mudd dobbers from moving into your swarm traps when you set them out?
i cant thats coming in a future video swarm trap failures. i take them down look in them when i check them and remove them.
Lankford, sure looks like you could use some extra BetterComb. 🤣
if you have the money go for it. im poor so the bees have to donate it to me lol

@@WoolieBsApiary I have to build a new shed myself as I am out of room. Going to make mine with a elevated floor for my boxes and a salt box roof.
Great idea for the moth... how do you prevent ants and rats?
