I think when you’ve grown up with a person and are as close to them as Colin and Penelope are it is sometimes hard to realize the romantic feelings. My best friend and I have known each other 30 years. We were friends before either of us had children and my son and her daughter grew up together. They are both in their mid 20s now but we used to say that we wanted them to get married so that we could share grandchildren and after they both entered adulthood, we had a conversation one time where we mentioned it and my son and her daughter were mortified by the idea because they considered each other to be family. They felt like cousins, so it never occurred to them to be romantically attracted to each other now they both moved on and have other relationships but I could see where Penelope being. Eloise is best friend and her and Colin growing up with each other as friends Colin might not be bright enough to realize that, the love is there and that they could have a romantic relationship and having the deep friendship that they do would just make it that much better and men are not the swiftest anyway so lot of times they don’t see when a woman likes them outside of a friendship under normal circumstances so would probably be the last person to realize it. 😂
Yes, because Show Polin have known each other likely since they were children as well, it's even more likely Colin wouldn't be able to pick up on the fact that she's in love with him, etc. She's always been that way around him.

I read in the book the line when he says that he will not marry her and im like...okay what if he said that because he is shy. Because she is a friend. You know like when you have a vrush on someone and someone else is makes fun of you and youre like no I'm not into her or him. I don't want to think like he is like the other men who fatshame her. You know?
I'm getting really annoyed by the lengths they are taking this couple or potential couple I mean they need to speed it up before they start losing their core audience I mean I'm sure that it won't be until like season six that they finally get together they need to speed these two up because the way he treats her annoys me like crazy and it really hurts the audience and it's like the writers don't care how we feel and seriously Colin needs to wake up and see what's right in front of him
